Sunday morning

Good morning Folks,

It’s an early morning again for me. I slept good from around 8 until 2, then just lay in bed praying and thinking before getting up at 3. I will nap later on in the day. Today will be a day of ‘quietly puttering’ around home. I will be going to the grocery store early, which isn’t far away, and then will hibernate here in our haven. It has been a stress filled week.

Yesterday I had my crying moments at work, but thankfully not when any people were in the shop. My friend Nanci, who with her husband, own the shop next door came to visit me a few times, we talked and I cried with her. We laughed too.

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine ~ Proverbs 17:22

I had gone over to visit her soon after I got to work. I told her I needed a hug and she gave me one. She also gave me a loaf of her delicious fruit cake, and an envelope with my name on it.  I saved it to take back to the shop to read. We chit-chatted for awhile before I headed back to my space. I’ve had some of the fruitcake with coffee this morning, a really nice way to start this day.

Here is what was in the envelope with a sweet note written inside. I immediately took the pin from card and pinned it over my heart. I love it and plan to wear it when I go out. I am a heart collector, DH became one too. It was always neat to see them here and there and to be able to bring some of them home. Isn’t that card sweet with all the herbs and meanings? I think LemonVerbenaLady will like it, or anyone who grows and loves herbs.

Nanci and her husband also gave me $ to pay for a massage. She knew I wanted to have one and that DH wanted me to have one too and she and her husband wanted to do this for us.

I found a massage therapist online and she strictly does housecalls and will be out Tuesday morning. I am so looking forward to this. I’ve not had one in about three years. It is not something I can afford, so occasionally I would use Christmas bonus $ to treat myself to one. My mom and I used to massage each other’s shoulders and backs when I lived at home. DH has given me many massages too. We didn’t have our first professional massages until we went to physical therapy after our car wreck Jan. 2000. I just couldn’t believe it, it was absolutely wonderful. I felt like a wet noodle afterwards. So, I’m really looking forward to being lovingly and healingly kneaded by Amanda come Tuesday.

Here is a photo of Nanci’s  fruitcake. I just love how she decorated the top this year. It really touched my heart.

I visited Sandra’s blog this morning and was deeply touched by her thoughts and photos. She closed with a scripture verse, that had me get into my E-Sword (Bible) program to read it in context and I found more verses there, all meant for me today. She wrote her post for all the brokenhearted from the horrible events in CN this past week. The scripture is for all who need to have hearts healed. Thank you Sandra for your lovely post.

I will close my post with an extended version of the scripture.

The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
The God of my rock;
in him will I trust:
he is my shield,
and the horn of my salvation, my high tower,
and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.
I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised:
so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
When the waves of death compassed me,
the floods of ungodly men made me afraid;
The sorrows of hell compassed me about;
the snares of death prevented me;
In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God:
and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.
For thou art my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness.
As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.

Taken from II Samuel 22

May your day be filled with peace, love and joy.

Love ~ FlowerLady Lorraine

P.S. Thank you to all who have commented, sent emails, cards and gifts, and for the continued love, prayers, thoughts and support.

Lorraine, I learned of your loss only yesterday. My heart and prayers go out to you during this difficult time. Thank you for sharing your experiences and scriptures...they are sweet and uplifting! I love the last verse of II Samuel 22 - He is a buckler...I imagine a parent buckling a child into a car seat for protection and dressing a child in loving care...this is what our heavenly Father does for us! I pray for peace and joy that only He can give to you, especially during this time. Hugs!!!

If I lived closer, you'd HAVE to share that fruitcake with me :)

I'm really encouraged by all the evidences of God's care and comfort for you that you share here--also the honesty about the tears, too.

It can't be easy. I hope you now how many people are praying for you.

In time it will be different. I'm not promising better, just different than it is now while grief is so keenly painful.

I am so thankful for all the supportive friends who are walking with you through this journey.

What a lovely fruitcake! I thought I was one of the few people on earth who admitted to loving them. May you be blessed as your words are blessing others. I teach elementary school, so this week is very difficult for all of us. Lots of fear, lots of sadness. I am so happy and thankful, though, to see my little students as they arrive safely every morning, ready for a new day.
