I did it!

Hello Folks ~ Hope you are all doing well. It is another beautiful, sunshiny day here in s.e. FL.

This morning I got up around 5:15, I needed to tweak my mask before heading out to the grocery store. I took a stiff twistie that I'd gotten off some veggie at the grocery store awhile back, cut it in half then, folded over the top of mask and stitched the center area down, slid the twistie in, sewed the ends a bit to keep it from coming out.

I left here around 7:15 and was home about an hour later. Seniors could shop between 7-8 and that was really nice. Mostly store personnel in the store and it was so nice to say a muffled hello, and God bless you to them and a couple of fellow customers. It did feel good getting back home, and I was glad to have had that little adventure.

There was NO flour, and NO tp, napkins, or paper towels. I was able to get what I had in mind and it should last me a couple of weeks and more depending on what it is. I am so thankful for it all and that I was able to get out and do it myself.

Before I had gone out this morning, this verse came up in my devotions. What a blessing to read at this time.

"The LORD is your keeper, the LORD is your shade at your right hand. The LORD shall preserve your going out & your coming in from this time forth, & even forevermore."

During this isolation time, I have ordered uplifting and encouraging books. The first 4 came yesterday, the next batch will come Friday and the final batch will be here near the end of the month maybe first of June. All three from different places. These should do me for awhile, I've got to watch my spending, only necessities for the near future.

Here are the ones that came yesterday. I've already read a bit of two of them, and both are very good.

Below are some birds and blooms. Neither have a care in the world, they just be who/what they are, spreading joy and beauty.

This was taken out of the window over my sink. Always makes me smile to see them.

That's it for now. Tomorrow I hope to work on recipes, making and freezing, so that I won't have to think about what to fix for supper all of the time. I also want to make banana bread, had to wait to get some butter, which I did today. I also want to make strawberry bread. I've made it before and it is delicious!

May you all stay well and find the goodness and beauty to enjoy in each day we are blessed with. This is a time of reflection, of drawing closer to God our Creator and Savior and drawing closer to family and friends.

Love, hugs and prayers,
FlowerLady

I am happy for you, that you got out, if only for a short time. I find it helps me when I can get out every once in a while.

I'm glad you got what you needed at the store, Lorraine. I can never find flour for baking when I go, but the cake mixes and cookie mixes are sure good. You know, Target is really good about stocking up toilet paper, and they reserve the first hour for Seniors, so you might want to check that out. I love that verse and really needed that right now. Your fountain is beautiful with the statue, and do I see a couple Cardinals in there? It is a dream of mine to see the red Cardinal someday, as I don't get to see them living here in California.

Stay well and safe, Lorraine, and happy May days. : )

Happy to hear you made it out to the grocery store! It's nice to see some different scenery. Lovely flowers!

Those words speak to me too, as I also braved the supermarket, first time since 16th March!!! Mask on, sanitised hands, trolley rail had been sprayed, and found a lot of things not available on the online ordering. Had to put them into the trolley myself, then into bags at the car. No waiting at 8,45 a.m. Came home, picked up the parcel to post, arrived at postshop to find a very long queue. Finally posted them off, then to the Pharmacy for prescriptions, a queue there too, Your flowers, so beautiful, the lady in the fountain/bird bath, a delight to take a stroll and see the beauty in your garden. Hugs from a warm day now, started off with about 5 Celsius. XXX

Glad to hear you were able to get out and get what you needed. The stores around here still aren't very well stocked.

Strawberry cake? Sounds so good! Makes me long for summer and we've barely got spring underway. I'm a loner, I enjoy staying home, but it's fun to get out and interact with people. Hopefully this will clear very soon and we'll be visiting friends and family, again. Have a lovely day, Lorraine!

I like it that stores are thinking about seniors, but when we go we do not find things that we need. They say the truck will come in later and than they will put it out. By the time we go back the next morning they are all gone. OH Well. Glad you were able to get some of the things you needed.

the cardinals bathing are a delight. I went out between 7 and 8 this morn too. Glad you could just get out into "public" to see other people even
just shoppers passing by you. It does help alleviate the isolation.
I have made many pots of soup the past 6 weeks and it freezes so well.
Good luck cooking and baking.

Sweet Cardinals!!! I love watching the birds. :-)

Glad to hear you got out, though sorry to hear your store was out of flour, TP, etc. So far, most of our grocery stores here have been pretty well stocked with those things, but now they're all limiting meat because the big meat processing companies are going to close down.

Have a good day! :-)

Yay!! So glad you wear a mask. I make Steve wear one now. I don't leave the car now. I have been baking a lot of banana bread. Comfort food. This weekend I need to make some cream puffs for my oldests birthday. You take care. Love, KK

All of your pictures are beautiful but I do love the cardinals bathing so much. Especially the first one of the cardinal spreading his wings. He does want to get clean, doesn't he? Your new books look wonderful, be sure to let us know how you like them. I hope you can find the grocery supplies you need sometime soon. And so glad you wear a mask. Yesterday was my first time out around people since the lockdown, had to go to our eye doctor for eye pressure check, and we were told to be sure and wear a mask. One family in the waiting room did not have masks on. And when RH went in our grocery store on the way home, I sat in the car and people watched. Most wore masks going in but quite a few did not, mostly young adults. RH does try to do like you and go to senior hour when he can.

Take care, sweet friend,
Dewena

What a lovely verse to send you on your way to the grocery store this morning. The flowers are lovely. In Michigan we saw some snow in the air today! It is dropping down to 28 tonight and more snow on Monday!! Usually it's safe to plant by Mother's Day, but not this year!

That was a good idea for tweaking your mask! Glad you were able to get your groceries restocked . . . and in such a short time! (I'm slow, and I can't remember ever shopping in such a narrow window of time. Ha!)

Lovely flowers! Blessings on your weekend!

So sweet to visit your lovely blog, Lorraine! I wanted to thank you for your sweet visits to my blog. Your comments are an encouragement to me. I apologize it took me a while to get here, but it was so nice to visit with you tonight. I am thankful God blessed you to get out today. Oh, these are trying, troubling times, but so thankful we have a Savior Who is continually with us. I love the verse God gave you this morning. Many blessings to you!

Congratulations Lorraine - I can fully understand your sense of accomplishment. There is nothing quite as transforming as knowing you have what you need, both internally and externally, to take care of yourself. These are trying and sometimes frightening times and the ability to work your way through it, relying on your faith and inner strength is so important. Good for you!
Take care,

Jillayne

God bless you, Lorraine. I hope you stay safe and glad you are using a mask. Our stores are depleted, too, but we can get most of the basics. It is crazy how it went with people hoarding stuff.
Your pictures of your garden and birdbath are lovely. Lucky you! Take good care. xo Diana

Our grocery stores are getting close to 'normal' again. For that, I'm happy. Tell me...what are the blooms outside your window? Gorgeous, they are. And I LOVE that cardinal.

Beautiful post, beautiful pictures, beautiful uplifting words. Since living in two third world countries I have learned to adapt most recipes to what ever is at hand. I love conveniences since I lived for quite a while without them. cooking from scratch is fun is one does not have to depend on it and has all the necessary ingredient. So glad I stop by your site, it was a calming experience.

Oh how sweet the cardinals are enjoying. Your flowers always are so pretty. Glad you could get out to the store and were safe about it. Have a great new week. Just catching up on blogs. Hope you had a great weekend.

Yay! I know how you feel, that great sense of accomplishment :-) My housemate and I notice that it takes extra energy, mental and emotional, to go shopping these days, with all the precautions and orders and concerns. But we are doing it more often. One day we'll be back to normal. My new normal will probably involve washing my hands a little more...

What a perfect view from your kitchen window, Lorraine!! I had success ordering TP and paper towels from Walmart.com this past weekend....you may want to give that a try. Free delivery with a $35 order. Oh, I ordered flour, sugar, and cornmeal too, things my local market has been out of.

Your flower photos are lovely.

I had to laugh when I read about what you couldn't find in the store. I was making a tuna sandwich and reached into the fridge for mayonnaise. I only like Best Foods and the new container was a store brand. But, these are tough times and I realized that Steve had to buy what he could.

That scripture is so comforting, Lorraine. He is always with us. He will never leave us, and nothing -- no virus -- can keep us from Him. He means more and more to me every day. I find your blog posts so comforting, and the photos so calming. Your place is perfectly wonderful, and I'm inspired by it. I'm glad you ventured out, and that it was a positive experience. Enjoy your day. Hugs, Nancy

I like the photos of your redbirds bathing, they are beauties and look like a couple. I haven't been in a store in about 70 days. I do wear a mask when I walk my dog. Be well and enjoy your new book treasures.
