This recipe is made in the bread machine, makes a 1.5 lb. loaf. This was the first recipe I made in my bread machine from the cookbook that came with it, July 2000.
1 c. water
1/4 c. molasses
2 TBS. margarine or butter, softened
3 c. bread flour
1/2 c. quick cooking or regular oats
2 TBS. dry milk
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1 3/4 tsp. yeast
Optional additions:
1 TBS. flax seeds
1 tsp. sage
1/2 tsp. marjoram
1/2 tsp. carraway seeds
Make according to your bread machine directions. Select sweet setting.
This smells wonderful while baking.

YUMMY! I need a bread machine...
Darla ~ I love my bread machine. The first time we had bread made this way was when we went up north to visit DH's aunt and uncle. She made their bread every week. When we came home we looked around and bought one. If I ever have to get another one, I want one that makes them like a bread loaf instead of the high loaf mine makes. Make sure you get one where the little paddle that mixes the bread, comes out. I just cut my loaf in half then put it in the little bread slicing marker doohickey and slice with my bread knife. Maybe you could put a bread machine on your Christmas list. :-)
I wish I knew how to can. Where do you keep your canned goods stored since you live here in FL?

I will print this off. We use our bread machine more when we are stuck inside in the winter.
This sounds delicious. It's been cooler and rainy here, perfect time for getting the bread machine out.
I don't have a bread machine, but I think I can manage this recipe without one. I love oatmeal so this should be really good. Love the addition of flax seeds! Thanks again for the Bay!

Ah, crud I just want to get adopted. Come on, homemade oatmeal bread and lentil soup? It's just not fair. It sounds heavenly! sigh
I've printed this recipe out. I plan to try it out. I love my bread machine and the sweet types are the yummiest I think.
Sounds delicious, but I don't have a bread machine. I probably shouldn't even be baking (or looking at) bread! LOL
