So much older then, I'm younger than that now

Last night after supper, DH and I thought of the words to the title of this song, Googled and found it on youtube.

This is a great rendition by some wonderful old rock 'n roll dudes, Dylan, Clapton, Petty, Harrison, Young, McGuinn.

My Back Pages

Crimson flames tied through my ears
Rollin' high and mighty traps
Pounced with fire on flaming roads
Using ideas as my maps
"We'll meet on edges, soon," said I Proud 'neath heated brow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now.

Half-cracked prejudice leaped forth
"Rip down all hate," I screamed
Lies that life is black and white
Spoke from my skull, I dreamed
Romantic facts of musketeers
Foundationed deep, somehow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now.

Girls' faces formed the forward path
From phony jealousy
To memorizing politics
Of ancient history
Flung down by corpse evangelists
Unthought of, thought, somehow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now.

A self-ordained professor's tongue
Too serious to fool
Spouted out that liberty
Is just equality in school
"Equality," I spoke the word
As if a wedding vow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now.

In a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand
At the mongrel dogs who teach
Fearing not that I'd become my enemy
In the instant that I preach
My existence led by confusion boats
Mutiny from stern to bow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now.

Yes, my guard stood hard when abstract threats
Too noble to neglect
Deceived me into thinking
I had something to protect
Good and bad, I define these terms
Quite clear, no doubt, somehow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now.

Hi FlowerLady :) I miss the real rock and roll like this. I can't say I've ever heard this song in particular but Dylan? Clapton? Yes! I love their music. Actually the song by Clapton, "You Look Wonderful Tonight" is one my husband use to request for us to dance to all the time.

Thanks for the information on the herbs. I'm definitely going to git it a try.

Have a blessed evening,

Good morning Sharon ~ You Look Wonderful Tonight is a favorite of ours too. There are so many great songs out there. They are part of our life, who we are.

Herbs are God's gift to the world, for healing of body, mind and spirit.

Do read up on them. Go to your local library and see what books they have about herbs. Great reading.

They were poets back then. Today's music sounds like they have a glass of beer in one hand and a rhyming dictionary in the other. Got that quote from the movie On Moonlight Bay. Funny but true!

You won The Perennial Care Manual by Nan Ondra by answering the scavenger hunt questions (first) and correctly! Congrats! I've sent you an email.

We're fans of the musicians. Seen Clapton a few times. Dylan was in the area recently, but we didn't go to the concert. My husband is a musician and his ears are so damaged from the rock and roll days, he only does acoustic now.

Is it only me, or does the Playlist music play over the vids on everybody's screen? Or was I just too dumb to know to go click Playlist Off first?

Jane ~ Music was different back then. Lyrics seemed to have had more meaning. Of course, ask our parents, it all sounded horrible to them. I can't stand a lot of the music that is out today, but to kids I'm just another old fogie. :-) DH and I enjoy and like a lot of different music.

Cameron ~ I am so thrilled over winning that book. Thank you for the fun scavenger hunt on your blog.

I wonder how all those guys hearing is these days. They've been up there with that loud music for decades. Sorry to hear about your DH's damaged hearing.

Nell ~ The music from my playlist does come up automatically. You have to pause it. I forgot about that. I guess any time I put up a music video I should post a note saying to first turn off the playlist. Thanks for the reminder.

Have a great week everyone ~ FlowerLady
