No roses today :-)

Good morning ~ I hope you all are having a lovely day.

I thought I'd show something other than roses today. Some of these are just now leafing out, and I have to wait for this to happen just like you all do up north. It is a real treat to see the green appear, and later a joy to watch the buds turn into flowers.

Below is a dwarf white orchid tree,
Bauhinia Acuminata,
grown from seed.
I have two of these.
Info for these can be found here.

Star Jasmine, Jasminum multiflorum.
Info can be found here.

Below are two pictures of my Queen Crepe.
I've been watching this for new growth and finally,
last week was rewarded almost overnight.

Below is another bloomer that I have to wait until spring each year
to enjoy the delightful blooms and their wonderful scent.

Yesterday, on the way home from work I passed some brush on a street
where wealthy people live,
between the intracoastal waterway and a main road.
I didn't stop because the two shrubs I saw were pretty wilted,
but as I got up to the corner,
I decided to go around the block and I'm glad I did.
I was 'hoping' they were gardenias, but they're not. :-(
But, they are nice shrubs anyway.
In the same pile of stuff was a really nice looking bromeliad,
so I stuffed it and the shrubs in the back of my little old Mazda wagon
and headed on down the road.

We do have an ancient shrub like these in the main garden.
They are Crepe Jasmine Tarbernaymontana divaricata or East Indian Rosebay.
Info found here.

I put them into buckets of water last night
and this morning they have both perked right up.
I also trimmed off the dead growth.
We are going to put them into the two shell flower pots.

This is the other plant I found.
The only thing the matter with it is the flower looks past it's prime.

That's it from Plum Cottage.
I wish you could all smell the wonderful scents that are filling the air.

Oh yeh, I did get a book in yesterdays mail that I ordered,
called The Embroider's Handbook.
It has detailed pictures and instructions of over 150 embroidery stitches.

Have a great week.

You found some great little shrubs that will fit right in to your pots and be happy for life. The bromeliad was just waiting for you to rescue it... it will be perfect placed in a partially shady place in your lovely haven.

I am always so amazed at how fast the crapes flush out once they get started. And my confederate jasmine fence is beginning to bloom like crazy, too. So fragrant in the veggie garden!

Enjoy your Sunday. We are getting a light, gentle rain here... so nice.

Those are great findings of yours! I am sure the shrubs and the bromeliad will find your garden a happy home to live. I also find some seedlings of the orchid tree at my work place, but they are not dwarf one, and I don't have the space for a real tree in my garden. Wish I can find some dwarf kind to fit into my garden. I love the flower of the orchid tree!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

What a great find! From trash to growing in your lovely pots. You are sooo great at finding these "lost" items and giving them love and a home. :)

I just love your posts. You are so knowledgeable about plants and always put a link for info. Each plant is a work in progress.

What lucky plants to have you come along and adopt them. I know they will reward your love and vision with years of lovely growth. Now you have two lost souls to combine, your shell pots and these plants. You have a gift for seeing what can be and breathing new life into those things forsaken by others. And Catsngrams is right, you are very knowledgeable.
Oh yeah, I'm jealous of your jasmine, I can't seem to grow them up here on my hill. I love the scent though. It always makes me swoon when I smell them. Lucky you!:-)

Great plant finds. You have cleaned them up and presented them as the beauties they are.

It's nice to see so many more blooming plants returning to your gardens. That dwarf orchid tree is very nice. I haven't heard of it before.

Lovely pictures, as usual. I enjoy them so much. Crepes are a favorite of mine but they don't grow very well here in the heart of the country. Good luck with them and enjoy!

I am amazed at how large the plants are. Be sure to show us all when they get planted and take off.

Who would throw away a bromeliad?!!! What a lucky find for you. My mom has the white orchid tree. I love the blooms! It is nice to have the crapes in leaf again! I still want the queen's crape. I've seen them around here at botanical gardens, but never in a nursery.

Flowerlady, I'm a little disappointed not to enjoy one of your roses today. BUT...your other blooms are gorgeous and I'm so glad you shared them with us! My son especially loves the orchid tree. Your curbside finds are AWESOME!!! These are some of my favorite things...free plants! The shrubs are really pretty..I like their shape. Great save! And the brom looks nice and healthy too. It'll send out pups in no time.

I didn't realize how far behind I'd gotten on your blog. You sure have been busy! I hope your Etsy Shop setting up is going smoother today.

I love all your blooms. Yes it is fun seeing the green, then the buds turning to flowers. Things are getting full my way. Now, I am also experiencing sadness that some of the flowers are finished blooming for the season already.

You are sweet giving those plants new life. I hope they root well.

Have fun with all that embroidering. I love that tan colored piece you showed, too.
