Good morning Friends ~ September sure zipped on by. Some of you are really feeling fall temperatures, while down here in s.e. FL it is still hot and humid. We've also had rain, rain and more rain for several days now, with more expected this week.
In this time of isolation it has been hard to really celebrate the life that we are now living. We can easily be pulled down into a funk, and it can be hard to get back out of. Then something lovely like the sun shining through lace curtains or stained glass can make one feel thankful.
Doing little projects like getting rid of the microwave that I didn't use except for storage has made a difference in the scullery.
as did making curtains for the cabinet that one door came off and I couldn't get it back on, and for under the little counter top that the bread machine is sitting on.
Below are pics of before and after of one of my procrastination areas. I'm ashamed to show the first, but it's part of who I am. It has been so nice to keep this cleaned up each night, although I have had some lapses in doing so 'every' night.
This was taken a couple of nights ago and ist is such a joy to wake up to this in the mornings, rather than the disaster of the above photo.
I am having issues with blogger this morning. So will make this short.
I will close with the following picture.
Will work on another post later. Have a great day 'celebrating' the little things.

Good for you for celebrating little things. I know it helps when our mindset is gratitude, although I am certain that these days of isolation are more than challenging to those who live alone. One day at a time . . .
Isolation, sometimes I have longed for that, but when we were in lockdown, 3 of us in our home , and not going out at all for weeks, it did get difficult. Take each day, yesterday I focused on the one golden sunflower bloom that has opened way too early. The flower turned its little face to the East and celebrated the warmth there.I need to follow that example. XXX from a cool morning here.
Lorraine, I'm so glad you got these pictures loaded as I don't really remember seeing the whole area before. I follow some European women on Instagram and I have to say that your scullery makes me think I'm looking at them. Those darling curtains! The blue glass in the window! I would spend an hour in there if I were to visit, just looking at every detail. This is my kind of kitchen, Lorraine!
We have to take our blessings where we find them. Your kitchen looks so cozy and comfy. I like the fabric 'doors'.
Wishing you a beautiful week ahead. I hope Blogger sorts itself out for you.

I like what you have done. You are right we need to celebrate each day for what we have.
I am sure not enjoying our lives like they are with the Virus lurking. We do our best to be clean and wipe everything, use sanitizers in the cars and wash up as soon as we come in the house. Wear masks. I am like you...I absolutely love sunshine thru lace curtains. It's a wonderful thing to me. I too thank God for small joys here and there. Blessings , stay safe. xoxo, Susie
My Mum always called her kitchen the scullery, I haven't heard it for years. I love you scullery, its eclectic a bit like mine, I don't like those ultra clean fitted kitchens they have no character.
We are at last getting the rain over here but the temperature is still quite mild.
God Bless you Lorraine

Your kitchen-scullery combination of space is SO expansive, it's no wonder that it gets out of control. Those rooms are WORK spaces, right? So we work in them until we are all bushed, and sometimes just have to put off the clean-up, which is not the creative part. Until we get to that part we are often "on a roll" and can't stop to clean up :-) Maybe I should only speak for myself -- hahaha
I'm so happy to see all your improvements; the curtains and the chopping block, the counters, the floors, the decor... everything is quite warm and homey and pretty.
Hi Lorraine! You've done a great job with your kitchen's 'makeover'! I agree - it's so nice to wake up and come to a cozy place in the morning!
well hello there, I am so glad to see you posted!! I love all the pretty pictures, your kitchen is gorgeous, so peaceful and welcoming! I love the pictures of the windows too...the stained glass and the curtain. Hope you're doing well and having a good week so far.
I love how you call your little kitchen the scullery. :-)
It's so nice to wake up to a clean kitchen, isn't it? Sets the right mood for the entire day.
We've been having beautiful weather here in Illinois...it had cooled down into the 50's but now is going back up into the 70s which is perfect. Come end of October - we're done with until at least March or April! I am dreading this upcoming winter, especially with the Coronavirus.
Focusing on the little things is important now, more so than ever. I think it's especially true for those of us that live alone. Those little things are what keeps us going. I think you did good with your clean up there. I am guilty of letting things pile up now and then.
I think it is always important to focus on those special little things. Seems that life is made up of little things. Hope you are doing well.
It looks very nice!
I enjoy seeing the inside of your house. You have a nice home.
FL, I feel the same way. And I just read another blogger who feels the same way right now about her projects for tidying her home. She feels overwhelmed and a bit depressed.
The last 4 years we have tried to redo various rooms in our house, and the last room that really needs it, is our bedroom. But it's so full of stuff -- my stuff -- that it's too overwhelming to think of emptying it all and painting, etc.
Your scullery is darling!!! I love the tall cabinet, the bright window, all the adorable curtains below. It's lovely. And I understand about the microwave. We got rid of ours too and have hardly missed it.
The older we get the easier it seems we are able TO celebrate the little things. We don't need as much as we did when we were younger to make us happy or content. You little areas are sweet and clearing the clutter seems to clear the soul.
xx, Carol
