Cold, but the sun is shining

Hello Folks ~ This morning in s.e. FL at around 7 a.m. it was 53 but with windchill it felt like 42. This cold weather is what the rainy weather brought us. Today I started crocheting another lapghan. It has a sunflower in the middle and it has been a joy getting started on it.  The yellow is brighter, the light green border is really a sage, and the variegated ball has mixed colors, even this bluish that is to the right.

I got a text from a dear, younger friend last night, saw it this morning and she had a casserole for me and could drop it off on her way to work. I said ok, and we had a cup of coffee and wonderful visit before she had to head to work.

Her being here inspired me to get up off my fanny and finish the dishes, cleaning up the scullery. The scullery is a dream come true, humble, quirky and I love it. The space used to be the utility room. I feel DH's love surrounding me in the little space. The picture is rather blurry, sorry about that. The window was fogged up because of the cold also. But, it is a brighter day than yesterday.

I will close this post with the verse of scripture my friend shared with me that she had read last night.

It really spoke to and encouraged both of us and I pray it will encourage you also.

In the multitude of my thoughts within me

thy comforts delight my soul.

 Psalms 94:19

Thanks be to God for all He has done,
for what He is doing now,
and for what He will do in the future.

That's it for today from Plum Cottage.

The sunflower pattern is just lovely! I've never seen that before. If I could still crochet (it damaged my thumbs too much), I'd definitely try that pattern.

Your sweet kitchen looks quaint and cozy and perfect. Glad your friend could stop by.

I like the colors of yarn your using for you lapghan. I hope you'll show it when it's finished.
What a nice thing for your friend to do and great that you were able to visit with her a bit before she had to head to work.
Have a great day. We'll be in a deep freeze here today and for the next few days at least

Lorraine, your crochet piece is beautiful but I love your scullery so very much! That's just the kind of kitchen space I love the best, you know. My own galley kitchen is so convenient and I love the ease of turning from sink to stove and cabinets. So much easier than all the steps I used to take in our kitchen at Valley View. I loved that kitchen then, when I was younger, but a small cozy kitchen is perfect for me now. And yours looks like a happy space. I can just picture you in there!

God knows just what we need, when we need it!

What a dear friend to share a casserole and scripture with you. We all need people like that in our lives. That is going to be a great lapghan! I love the sunflower you have in the center.

Your scullery is just PERFECT--it reminds me of one I would read about in an English novel. Blessings- xo Diana

Sunflower, shared cup of coffee and loving words. We are in a heat wave, about 32C, too hot to contemplate anything much at all. Keep that cool with you, wish we had some down here. However we are not the hottest place, somewhere else was 37C.

Having company is a real motivator, isn't it? (It is for me!)

I love the skullery. It looks like a cheerful place to work, and how sweet that it reminds you of your husband.

Beautiful comforts from Scripture!

Hi Lorraine!
I love your crochet project! I am also working on a crochet project. I am crocheting a baby blanket for my very first grandchild due in June. I really need to get my blog up and running again, so I can post pictures. I love seeing your pictures!
It is snowing here in North Jersey today. Lots of good crocheting time!

It is the simple things in life that are all around of that we need to take notice and recognize them as treasure, A friend told me I placed a smile on her reading a passage and I remarked that was my honor then to share it,

What a pretty crochet square, can't wait to see the full afghan :) What a sweet friend to share a casserole with you, at least you don't have to worry about cooking today, right?

Hope you have a wonderful day :)

Seeing your crocheted block I'm reminded that I have long intended to piece a quilt with sunflower blocks. Perhaps that can be a project to undertake in the new house. I like the begonia in your header. I will need to start over with begonias in the spring as there wasn't space in my daughter's basement to winter all my plants.

How lovely to have a friend come by with a meal and a visit. Visitors are always a great motivator for a little clean and tidy - and I find I always feel better afterwards too.

I hope you can stay warm and cosy, enjoying some more hand work.

Your friend sounds so sweet. I am so happy you have her in your life. I love that you crochet. That is an art that is dying out. My grandmother use to crochet and I tried to learn when I was young but did not have the patience for it. Now I wish I had stuck with it. Love the sunflower pattern.
Hugs,
Kris

I might have to try my hand at it ..no sense having idle hands... Your workspace is perfectly user-friendly and warm ... Forgive me but , I Love that you used the term ' scullery' , my mother used to use that word and I so enjoy old English language...It reminds me of mother. ....How lucky you are to have such a thoughtful young friend...It truly gives us all hope and inspiration for the next generation. Thanks for the parting psalm....It did delight my soul...Have a Lovely day Sweet Flower Lady...xoxoxox

Good morning...I love hearing what's going on around your home and how you're doing. What a lovely friend to drop off some food for you and stay and have a cup of coffee and chat. I love your little kitchen - it's so cozy and homey-looking. The weather here in northern IL is still terrible. We've had nothing but snow, frigid cold, and now rain and ice. More frigid cold and snow coming in the next few days. We also haven't seen the sun in ages. It's so gray and gloomy here.

Hope you are well...love and hugs to you.

Hello, dear one, your afghan square is wonderful - so happy and bright! My daughter loves sunflowers and at one time her whole kitchen was decorated with them. They were so popular for a time and she has a whole dish set with sunflowers that she doesn't use. I convinced her to keep them for entertaining outside. Your temperatures are cool for Florida - I hope they have warmed up by the time you are reading this. We are getting another big snowstorm....sigh.. I am so over it. How wonderful that your friend stopped by and with a casserole, too! I love that. The scripture is lovely. Thank you for sharing it. Sending hugs xo Karen
