Mostly Roses :-)

Hello Folks ~ It is Saturday morning in my part of the world. Today is the last day of work for me this week. Next week, I’ll only be working one day, next Saturday, so have a week off to putter around home.

This morning after I got the coffee going in our stainless steel percolator coffee pot on the stove, I filled up the bread machine pan with ingredients for a loaf of bread and that is now baking. It should be done around 9:30, about 1 1/2 hours from now. Pretty soon it will start smelling delicious in here.

Thursday morning I took some pictures when I realized Chrysler Imperial had two blooms. I had smelled a wonderful rose scent the day before and thought it was coming from all of the blooms of Cocktail, not even seeing the one opened Chrysler Imperial bloom. That scent is really an old rose scent, to me it’s what you think of when you see a rose and how it should smell.

A sweet African violet my friend Nanci gave me. Her mother passed away recently and Nanci knows my love of flowers so brought this from her mother’s home in Vermont. I do hope I can keep it alive. It is in a north facing window. If any of you have good tips for growing these lovely indoor plants please let me know. I will greatly appreciate it.

That’s it for now. It’s time to get us some breakfast, then I need to gear up for work, getting my mind right. The past few days there has been someone there doing some work on pieces and she is what I call a psychic vampire, and it wears me out being around her. The past two nights I’ve gone to bed between 7:30-8 p.m. and slept like a log, waking up around 6. May I feel the peace and love of God surrounding me today, (something she doesn’t want to hear even the slightest suggestion about at all. I've known her for years and she's been in my prayers, it's all I can do). She is spoiled and seeks attention constantly. Fortunately for me, this has not been an every day occurrence for the past 13 years. I would have quit long ago.

May I see the good in this day, may I be nice and not nasty. May I keep my mouth shut when I might feel like saying things I shouldn’t.

Hope you all have a great weekend, with NO psychic vampires invading your space.

P.S. I just went in to the scullery and smelled the delicious aroma of bread baking and looked out the window and saw flowers and butterflies and felt God's love. That makes me feel better ready to face the day. I'm not perfect by any means and need God's grace each and every day, all day long.

Oh I had to chuckle over your description of your work mate. I think her sister must have emigrated over here, because I've definitely met her! Anyway, I hope your day at work with the vampire is not too bad.

Love Chrysler Imperial and Smith's Parish. Well, all your Roses are lovely, but those two caught my eye. Your Texas Sage bloom makes a lovely header photo. As for your African Violet, my only advice is not to over-water it. That's one of the commonest mistakes people make with them.

Dearest FlowerLady,
I wish the blogging world had smell-a-vision, as the roses looks so very beautiful.
When I was in the corporate world, I worked with "many" emotional and sometimes physical vampires. They literally wear you out with the negative energy they put out. I can pick up on someone like that a mile away, and generally just stay away from them, if possible. If not, I try to pray and then move on.
Enjoy your bread and breakfast and your weekend. Put up your force field around you.
Hugs

Roses! I still have my Theresa Bugnet blooming but pretty soon I will have to live off your wonderful photos. Fall is coming. Cool and sunny today. Love you, Kit

I will never ever ever have a beautiful garden like yours, so I will just continue to live vicariously through you :)

As for your Psychic Vampire LOL I thought I was the only one that used that term and I know exactly what kind of person you're talking about, I used to have a friend like that, she literally left me drained after spending just an hour in her company. UGH.

Have a wonderful Saturday sweet friend :)

Flowerlady, you captured Chrysler Imperial perfectly. I have grown this rose in my old garden and know that is has an amazing old rose fragrance. I can imagine that the humidity that you are having is even enhancing the scent. Your other roses are lovely, too. Good luck with the African Violet! Wishing you a nice weekend!

It is always a joy to see your roses. I have Chrysler Imperial too and love the scent. I am glad to see such gorgeous blooms on yours. I hope your work day goes well, and you are not worn out.

Just keep a vision of these beautiful flowers and the lovely scents in your memory bank...it should be enough to keep the "psychic vampire" from occupying any space in your mind!

I have run into those
vampires also :)

Could you send some of your lovely
flowers my way? Everything has
begun turning brown and it's now
getting cold. We turned on the heat
this morning for the first time as
it was in the 40's when we woke up.
Psychic vampire, huh? Hide the Word
in your heart and abide there. We
all need grace for every day--not
just you, dear friend.

Your Chrysler Imperial is just perfection. Enjoyed seeing your other blooms, too. "Psychic vampire" - never heard that term! But I know someone like that, too. The next time I see her, I will probably giggle in the back of my mind remembering that term. I hope your 'vampire' is out of your space soon so you can recuperate.

I love rose scents .. we only have wild roses that bloom late may/early June .. small pink petals that perfume the air. Last year I picked enough petals to make a delicious wild rose jelly .. it's delish. And I'm sad not to have taken the time to make some this year.

Your Chrysler rose has such velvety petals .. very lovely. Hope your day was grand .. and enjoy the week off from work .. just puttering.

I know that aroma you speak of about the roses, the real old fashioned ones, the ones in Grandma's garden. Everyone once in a while it comes my way and my mind goes back to a time. I work with a living nightmare also. Everyday it's a struggle not to cross the line. Being nice is such an effort; it really is.

Psychic Vampire!!! Oh Rainy, you are too funny.. Good grief, I never want to run into one of those creatures, you poor dear! It would probably not be possible to keep my mouth shut.
MMMM, that bread smells good!
African violets always remind me of my mothers dear friend who lived in an old, old house. Her little pots of African Violets sat in the kitchen window overlooking an herb garden. I was only around 6 years old, but I have always remembered her house and her little fuzzy leafed flowers sitting on the windowsill.

Isn't God good to give you that lovely freshly baking bread smell and the beautiful view out your window just when you needed it? Hope your day goes well and that this coming week tending to your gardens and home will be most satisfying.

Physic Vampire! I now have a new term to describe a relative or two. They just wear you out completely.

I believe you have armed yourself well and will be able to ward off her evil spirits!

I am still working on getting a Chrysler Imperial. The last one died almost immediately and I returned it.

Sometimes I bake things just to have that glorious smell in the house. The food is just a plus.

Hope this week is a great one for you.

All your roses are so lovely! I still have not found that LP rose here yet. Hope your day at work was not too bad. That imagination of the smell of bread baking makes me drooling :)

Beautiful roses. I keep my violets water only once a week. Good drainage and indirect light. Mine do well in the east and south window. Yours would die in the south window. Drops of fertilize in the water really does make a difference.

Your roses looked so beautiful, like I could reach out and touch them. I hope your day went well, I always ask, "What am I supposed to learn from this person?" when I am dealing with a difficult one. God puts everyone in our lives for a specific reason, just learning and accepting is half the battle!

Hi FlowerLady,
I'm home now, and need to get some housework done. We should get out and pick up a few things for the winter, but it's cold, so we'll see what happens.

I think we all have one of those vampires inside of us that want to keep our hearts turned away from God. I wonder if when we have that desire to keep close to God, there is more of a struggle than when we don't.

I myself have been struggling with an unfair situation that has happened to me and a number of my co-workers. Our agreement has been violated, and we have been given pay cuts because they have changed how they structure the levels of pay. Due to my writing of emails and arguing our case, my assignment is being reviewed to see if I should get my level restored. I already know it should not have been changed to begin with. Instead of trusting God for the outcome, my thoughts have been dwelling on the situation quite a bit. God is in the process of wooing my thoughts back, though. I am so thankful for His love for me.

God bless you, FlowerLady!
