X-rated action on a passion vine flower

When I took this picture I didn’t think of them being on the ‘passion’ flower.  That didn’t happen until I downloaded the picture and looked at it in my art program.

I don’t know what kind of bugs they are. They’re too big to be ‘love bugs’.

Here they are.  They almost look like part of the flower.

I went out this morning to do some weeding and ended up spending about three hours. When I came in I saw that the real feel temp with the humidity index, was between 101 – 103. There was a nice breeze though, so that probably helped.  Although I was sweating buckets.

We’re going to put pavers back here that we found not that long ago and I’ll post more pictures as this area develops and the Gypsy Wagon gets more work done on it too. Painting of the wood siding, tin roof on top of the tar papered plywood.

The ‘secret garden’ is through the arched grotto area, and then to the right.  We just got the two plastic chairs curbside across the street when the latest renters moved out.  The mailbox is our old one. I keep some garden tools in there.

Today.

I’ve still more to do here, like weed wack the outer edge on the left, and clean up all the weeds left lying on the sidewalk.

I am glad that we are heading into September.  This has been the worst summer, or maybe it’s just because I’m getting older, but I could hardly stand working outside at all. It felt good working outside today and I look forward to the cooler weather, as the best time for our gardens down here in FL is coming up.

Hope you all have a great week.  I hope everyone who had some of Irene’s weather, is safe, with minimal to no damages.

Those mating bugs certainly looked like part of the flowers. I had to look twice to really see them. Then I averted my eyes, thinking they might want some privacy lol!

You would certainly need a lovely breeze to be able to stay outside to weed in those temps. The areas you worked on are looking terrific. It's a good feeling when you stand back and see the fruits of your labour. I'm sure you will welcome the end of this Summer.

You do good work. What a difference. Hope you enjoyed some time to chill out after all of that.
Quite the photo on the passion flower. Oh my!

I see progress from last post to this one :)

Oh, how I love your "grotto". The (what I would call) randomness of your yard/garden is what I find so very attractive...

We're enjoying cool evenings. Autumn-like almost. Daytimes, still warm, but (thankfully) not as hot as you'lve had it.

Love the passion flower pic! You have at least started making some progress on your garden. I haven't even started! Carla

We call those stinkbugs here. Supposedly when you smash them ( not me ), they let out a terrible odor. Commendable work on the garden !

FlowerLady, you got quite some work done! I am impressed especially since you did that at these temperatures. Job well done!

Yes, they are stink bugs and they do damage to tomatoes....that white corky under the skin thing is due to them. They do stink, I have personal experience. Just squished one this week to see.

Doesn't it make you feel good when you get a project like garden clean-up done. I have started too.

I take small steps. Sometimes just a section of a bed is all I do. Somehow it all gets done.

I LOVE the passion flower, looks like you have gotten alot done. Look great. I know about the heat and humidity because we live in South West Mississippi, so I can relate!!
Have a great week.

I had to look twice at the passion flower too, and oooh la la! No better place for love than the passion flower.

Oh, you were working so hard in that heat and humidity, I don't know how you do it. I am SUCH a wimp when the icky stickies hit. I'm loving the view of your little garden getaway already. You've inspired Carl and I to get to work on our little stone project this week. I hope the weather cools off for you soon!

No, it has nothing to do with age. This was not a good summer for me either. I was so disappointed with the weather this summer.

I hope next year will be better. I'm happy that you will have some relief in the coming month.

Wow, Flowerlady you've got a lot accomplished in a very short period of time. Hats off to you!

I've got the summertime blues Flowerlady. Appropriate quote today. I'm so ready for some cooler weather so I can get out and work some. I just don't feel like it and usually give in to my wants or dis-wants. The yard looks good where you have worked. I know you must be sweating buckets. Hope you have a good day.

You sure got a lot done in just such a short amount of time! You go, girl! This summer has been brutal. I often wonder, too, if it's because I'm getting older. Nah! It's the heat!

Wowy zow, FlowerLady! What a great 'after' photo! And now you feel wonderful, don't you? And you should. Love your curbside chairs - such a deal.

Those x-rated shenanigans of the stink bugs will create lots of eggs, then nymphs that will suck on your roses' (and other things) new growth, causing them to look like they've been singed with a match. Stink or no stink, I squish them when I can get them - with latex-dipped gloves, of course.

Hi FlowerLady,
That passion flower is exquisite... such a work of art. The bugs are Leaf-fotted bugs http://www.ladybug.uconn.edu/hotissues/leaffootedbug.htm nuisance insects that invade in late summer.

You've gotten lots of weeding accomplished. It's amazing how fast everything can get out of hand after all our summer rains. Glad you are feeling like getting back out in the garden. I am also looking forward to some cooler weather.

I am impressed with all the work you accomplished in this heat. I have gotten outside for very small bits of time and am mostly just looking at what needs to be done. I miss being able to spend a whole day outside. Those days will be here again soon though. Enjoy your new cleaned up gardens.

PS - I'm sure this summer has been extra hot and humid, neither of us are THAT much older:)
