A Chill, Music is Back, More Roses :-)

Good morning Folks. Yesterday was a lovely foggy morning, today it is a lovely chilly, (53 and with wind chill feels like it is 48), breezy morning with the sun shining in a big blue sky. Tonight it's 'supposed' to get down to 39 and feel like it's 27. Our cottage is cozily warm and we haven't put the heater on yet. The heat was from yesterday's high of 78 and feeling like it was 81. I'll be baking a coffee cake later and that will add more warmth.

I've had several mention that they miss my music, I've missed it too, so I've re-installed my play list of soothing music again. If any of you would rather not listen, there is a pause button and the playlist is where it can be found easily, near the top of the right hand side bar.

Since it is such a lovely day I grabbed my camera again and headed outside.

I want to say to those who ask questions of me about growing roses, I am an amateur growing roses on a shoe string. I occasionally give them a dose of water soluble plant food, sometimes I give them Epsom salts, and sometimes I give them a drink of that nasty smelling alfalfa tea. I water, I pray, and I also talk to them. I've really gotten into the 'old garden' variety as they are much hardier, have wonderful shapes and scents. I've done research online, read books, blogs, etc. I'm still learning.

I hope you enjoy viewing these pictures. I enjoyed taking them, then editing them with my music was so soothing. Remember to click on pictures for a larger view.

The first two pictures are of Ducher.

This is Louis Philippe or the Florida Cracker Rose.

Here are some happy morning glories.

Here we have what is turning into one of my very favorite roses,

I think Penelope is becoming my favorite too! She is beautful. I think the OGR are what we need here in Florida, alright. I have only been growing a few roses for about a year now. I think I'm hooked.

Lovely! I'm going to try planting some old style roses out around the barn when I landscape. I love roses, but don't have good luck with them. They either get blackspot or the darn japanese beetles get them. Thank you once again for sharing your beautiful blooms with us!

The roses are so great to see on such a cold day up here. I need to go shovel more snow but maybe I just go look at garden books instead.

Visiting your blog is like a trip to a spring garden in the middle of the winter. Thanks for your lovely photos. Carla

Coming over and visiting with you is
like a little taste of springtime,
especially with all our snow and
frigid temps!
Love the quote and music.
Hope your evening is lovely and
send a piece of coffee cake my way,
please. ;0)
Shalom!
Sandy

Oh, I love that quote you ended with! Your roses are so stunningly beautiful. I just wish the old roses were not so impossible to find in my local nurseries.

P.S. I have always loved your music.

I'm gonna just sit here a while and listen. Lovely blooms. The ice is melting away.

Very pretty photos...it is crazy cold here in the North of Florida.....I never turn my volume up so I haven't a clue about your music.

Dear FlowerLady,
Really beautiful roses! I'm only growing the Cracker Roses and a knockout(as a specimen tree). I'm adding more of the Cracker Roses and will stick to the OGR's for ease of maintenance.

Your Penelope is stunning.

Hi FlowerLady,
I always enjoy seeing your roses and other blooms. I was surprised to read that you consider yourself an amateur at growing them. I am usually watching something on TV while blogging, so I have my speakers off.

It's very cold here. I'd rather have these temps now, and hope we don't in March.

Your roses are soooo beautiful! And as far as you being an amateur...I hardly think so, with the number of lovely roses in your garden...you definitely know what you're doing. Have a wonderful weekend, Flowerlady!

Vintage roses and rugosas have long been my favorites.
Not only are your roses beautiful, the photography is exquisite.

I loved your rose pictures! I grow Penelope and she is my favorite Hybrid Musk. Phyllis Bide is also lovely. You grow some very unusual and lovely roses.

I think I will have a go at roses again this spring, I will try the old fashioned variety as you do.
AS far as the music goes, personally, when I pop into a blog and music is playing, the first thing I do is turn off my volume.I find it interferes with my reading. I think your music is beautiful, but I would rather read your words first, then play your music. Just my opinion.

FlowerLady,
As always, your roses are beautiful! Wish I could grow them here, but I guess I'll just have to stick to growing culinary herbs which I have better luck with. Love the soothing music!

Blessings!
