Yard sale finds, gift, beaded heart

Good morning Folks ~ Here it is Sunday once again. Time is zipping right along. Our weather down here in south east FL is not as chilly as it was. It’s still pretty cold, to me, right his minute as it is 55 and feels like if is 53.  But, the high today is supposed to be 76, that will be lovely.

I can’t believe it’s been a week since I ‘restored’ the clothesline.  Every time I see it a big smile breaks out on my face. I love the ‘heart patio’ too, which I worked on the following day. Thank you all for your kind comments. They mean a lot to me.

I stopped at a couple of yard sales on my way to work this past week and found some goodies.

The bits of old lace 10 cents each, the wonderfully scented candle 20 cents, and the four teal colored valances one dollar. I plan to use the fabric of the valances in crafting. The old crocheted bits I want to use for heart projects. Well, I’ll keep the rose edging for myself. I don’t want to cut that up.

This Sterlite 3 drawer unit with wheels, $5.  It smells new, like it was never used.

A friend of mine gave me two doilies that are very pretty.  The round one is done in very fine thread, and I can only imagine the hours that went into this as I crochet myself.

This piece is folded in half, it is very soft.

My work in progress. The piece is getting heavier with each bead sewn on.

I got the idea to put the round doily over a lampshade in my creative space.

View out the window barely, as I see that my windows need washing. Smile

The above photo prompted me to go outside to see what is happening out side.

I  heard the first bird song of the morning earlier, sung by a Cardinal.

It reminded me of a verse found in Luke 12:24

Consider the ravens:
for they neither sow nor reap;
which neither have storehouse nor barn;
and God feedeth them:
how much more are ye better than the fowls?

Have a lovely Sunday and a great week,

Some beautiful finds for sure. That heart is a work of art. I always admire your fine needlework. It looks sunny and 75 in Florida--a much needed break from the cold we have.

and so do you.

Enjoy your mild temperatures. It is a raging blizzard outside right now,but I am safe and warm in my home.Seeing the crocheted pieces reminded me of the many things I have made.Even crocheted asset of four long panels for living room windows once. That was a lot of work.
Have a good day.

I'm just catching up with everything today, I love that clothesline! I've been "requesting" a clothesline for years, just for the sake of nostalgia. I so remember hanging out the clothes for my mother, those little wooden pins, fingers freezing...But the sheets always smelled so nice after having dried in the breeze. Of course, you're beaded work is always so beautiful and the stone work "heart" is another bit of charm added to an already delightful garden space.

Yard sale finds are such fun. It's been a few years since I've been to a really good one. My mom and I used to go to them every weekend.

How blessed you are to have a private garden and yard, Lorraine. I miss that so much, and it's something that will likely have to wait until we buy a house someday. The apartments we've seen with real balconies or outdoor spaces haven't ahd other features we need. Anyway. . .someday! And know that you're lucky to have all your pretty outdoor spots. :)

Have a wonderful evening. ♥

I like how you looked out the window and it prompted you to GO outside :) I do that too -- wander outside, wondering what I will find. Your yard looks so very green and WARM, as if it's summer there. We've had unseasonably cold temps here and wind that makes it really biting outside. That round doily -- I have one very similar to it. It was hand made many, many years ago by my husband's great-great grandmother, I believe, who was from Denmark. Amazing work. I really do wonder how old yours is -- it looks quite old. Don't get it close to that light bulb!! :)

Rainey, love the finds at the sale, some very beautiful pieces of work, but they all pale in comparison to your needlework!

The drawers are going to come in very handy, too.

I love the flowers blooming in your garden, I'm starting work on an allamanda shade and was glad to see they do indeed bloom pink, so based on your flower photos, that is how I will select glass. I've never seen an actual allamanda flower in person.

I just plunked seven quarts of yogurt into my roaster to heat through and am thinking about putting the skis on and hitting the trails around the farm. It's very windy and snowy right now, but we're in for it on Monday and Tuesday, the high is predicted to be -19F during the day with night dropping down to -24 with windchills of -40. I like winter, but this is getting to be a bit much for even me!

I'd like a little of that warm weather about now. Lots of cold and snow here, but actually I like the snow and know that warm weather will be here soon enough. : )

The lace is beautiful. I have pieces that my gramma made.

The flowers are lovely.

You find the greatest things at garage sales! Yeehaw!!! Your beaded heart is really coming along! Watch out that doily on your lampshade does not get too hot. I'm a mothering type and just had to say that!!! LOL. Love, Julie

A sweet post Lorraine, I especially loved the outside shots. Your garden really is a delight.
It's raining here, a cyclone may even be crossing our coast within the next couple of days.
I'm ready and prepared.
Have a lovely, calm, peaceful week dear girl.

Hi Lorraine. So many lovely dollies. To think of all the ones that I had made many years ago and threw all of them away. Now I wish I had them. :)
Your heart is just beautiful and it has so much work in it. Love it! Have a wonderful day.

I especially like those dainty doilies you purchased, in the first photo and a later one. Wow, the number of hours of work they represent is amazing, and they are so pretty. Your flowers are singing in these photos.

Hi Lorraine, the heart your making is lovely.
Yard sales are fun but I can get carried away if I'm not careful.
I love your beautiful roses of many colors.
Hugs :)

Lorraine, make sure the light bulb isn't more than about 25 watts; you don't need a fire from it getting too hot. The crochet finds are amazing and beautuful!

Great finds at the yard sales! My mom recently gave me some old doilies that I remember from my childhood. I was so grateful to receive them....

Difficult to believe the year has past. Time sure does fly and one should embrace every day as a gift....
