The Perfect Gift ~ Blooms ~ Hearts

Good morning Folks ~ Here it is Friday already. I’ve had a good couple of days, not to say I’ve not cried, because I have, but the heaviness of grief hasn’t been so heavy. Your prayers, thoughts and kind comments help more than words can express. Sometimes your comments start the tears, but they are tears of gratitude. God is certainly my strength at this time, He is the wind beneath my wings, He is my comforter.

~ Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 KJV

Yesterday morning I took a box of spray paint cans and other stuff, I think we found them curbside awhile back, to see if any worked that I might be able to use. Nope. So into the trash they went. Well, what did I find in the box, a lone card, about the size of a playing card, with a photo on one side and a calendar on the other.  When I saw it I couldn’t believe it. It was NO coincidence. It was a gift from God, meant for me to find at this particular time. I thanked Him from the depths of my heart. It is little things like this that bolster my heart and I am so thankful.

I did more puttering around outside, getting rid of an old rusted out grill that I was not going to use for anything anymore. I grilled on it a few times, then set plants on it, but it was time to go. I hauled it out to be picked up today and lo and behold, I heard someone rolling it off later and had to go look. It was a woman and she took it across the 5 lane road to her car on the side street, hubby must have pulled over there so as not to be in the busy road, and they loaded it in. I thought, hurray, they are taking this for scrap $ and that’s GREAT. Then I took a little freezer that we had been using to make ice when hurricanes came in case power went off. It stopped working last year, so out front it went. Later on, someone else stopped and put that into the back of their pick up. I was happy for them too. I have plenty of iron to take to the scrap yard and plan to do that in the near future. These two things were bulky. So, my cleaning up helped others and I was glad to be able to do that.

While I ate my lunch, I decided to see what was on you-tube, I had looked at some clips earlier, and something on the side bar caught my eye. The title was “The Perfect Gift”, so I checked it out, oh my gosh another serendipitous moment. I know this is a Christmas movie, but it is about the most ‘perfect gift of LOVE’, and this is the month of love after all, as Valentine’s day is next week. When the ending came and the song in the background came more to the forefront, I started bawling for joy, no other word to describe my feelings.  I wrote down the words, and later found a video of the song too.

Emmanuel ~ Come into my silence and bring me to peace

Come into my darkness and be my light

Come into what’s broken and make it whole again

                       Emmanuel your are with me.

My sister Cheri ~ wrote me something in an email that really touched my heart and made me feel happy at the same time. “It was hard to celebrate Christmas knowing Mark had passed away, but he was having the best Christmas, imagine being with Jesus on His birthday, WOW!” Oh yes, joy unspeakable and full of glory. Mark even celebrated his own birthday on the 20th with Jesus, and what a birthday bash for his 65th.

Here are a couple of felt hearts I’ve been working on. Two sides to each heart, so I’m showing both sides.

I finished the book ‘1000 Gifts’ by Ann Voskamp.  What a book of inspiration and encouragement. I was sorry it ended. I will be re-reading this one and underlined a whole lot of phrases that blessed my heart. I highly recommend this book to everyone. There’s a link to it in my sidebar.

The unthankful heart... discovers no mercies;

but let the thankful heart sweep through the day and,

as the magnet finds the iron,

so it will find,

in every hour,

some heavenly blessings!

Your days are sure productive. I wish we could set things out like that. I live in a community that has a lot of rules. Your hearts are cute. Glad to hear you are feeling a little better. Hugs.

The card... made we weep for you.
Lorraine your floral photography is really really good, not to mention always beautiful. I'm pleased you have it copyrighted.
I SO wished I could pop my rubbish outside and someone would be busting to take it away, but alas, I'd get booked for littering the path!!
Have a happy day dear Lorraine.

Happy to hear you had a good day. More will come.

The flower pictures are welcome as always. We are about 3 months from seeing any here. I did spy a tiny daffodil blooming; it set a new record.

I wish we had the curbside recycling thing in our area. WE need to do some serious cleaning when the weather permits.

Whenever we have "stuff" to get rid of, we stack it in the front yard with a sign "free!" It is always gone by the end of the day, even huge piles! I like the little hearts, there is just something lovely about felt and glass beads

Lorraine, I've been reading back posts, and I especially love the shots of roses.

It's hard to believe that in the midst of our white snowcovered winter there are roses blooming somewhere....

But I believe.

Lorraine, I don't know if you know how you touch so many hearts through the sharing of your sorrow. There are tears in my eyes right now, but not tears of sadness but of thankfulness for the strength I see in you. Thank you for all that you share with those of us who read your blog.

Good for you, cleaning out and helping out!
I work at an embroidery shop where we use huge machines to do the embroidery, but I never in my life thought that would be me. I cannot tolerate such ticky work, concentrating on details and stitches...but the end result gives such pride.
How proud you must be of your hand work and those hearts...

Any metal we have ever put out curbside rarely stays long enough for trash to pick up as the metal folks snag it up right away. Sometimes we will load it into our truck and go to the recycling center ourselves but rarely go in and collect anything for it as Scott says for me to pick one in line that I think needs it more than we do and we give them what we have asses to their load. The last time we did this the man need money for his wife's prescriptions. He Blesses us profusely and said, "Praise God I needed $65 and with this I should be able to get that". We were thrilled.
