Good morning Friends ~ I do hope you all will have a nice long weekend here in the US. I hope everyone else around the world has a nice normal weekend too.
My heart goes out to all of those who are having to deal with clean up from Irene. Who have lost homes and businesses. May love and healing surround them at this time.
Having gone through three hurricanes, we have an inkling of the devastation, and dealing with clean up and going without power as we did for 13 days. Going through hardships and heartache makes us appreciate all the many blessings we do have. May we be even more thankful for them and not take them for granted when things are going smoothly.
We have been having lots and lots of steady, heavy rains. Some are noisy thunderstorms, others are just heavy downpours of rain for hours on end.
Our gardens are even becoming more of a jungle where I haven’t worked yet, so I’ll have plenty to do in the coming weeks, in between rain and work.
Here is one bloom for this morning ~ Philippine Violet. I love the color and the hardiness of this plant.

How beautiful is the rain!
After the dust and the heat,
In the broad and fiery street,
In the narrow lane,
How beautiful is the rain!

Weather is always giving and taking.
Lovely photos of your flowers in the rain.
Looks like we might get some rain over the weekend and into the beginning of the week from that tropical disturbance in the Gulf. I remember the vine's name you sent seeds to, Alamo! She is blooming, thanks again. The Mother of Millions has done so well I sent a couple to Danger Garden in Oregon.
It is just heartbreaking to see the devastation in Vermont and along the eastern coast.A normal weekend would be nice for everyone. Your Philippine Violet is such a pretty lavender color. You both have a wonderful (& normal) weekend too.
That IS a beautiful color!
Yes, I hope everyone has a normal weekend, too. The weather has certainly been unpredictable. We just had a severe windstorm tear through here this morning with 75 mph. winds. We were very lucky and avoided heavy damage, but just ten miles away things are much worse. Nothing completely destroyed, but alot of mess to clean up.
Stopping here is like a breath of fresh air. Seeing and hearing about all your rain is almost as good as having a thunderstorm myself. It will rain here again someday--it's just a matter of when. It is so hard to read about all the devastation caused by Irene. Our prayers continue to go out to those affected. Hope your Labor Day weekend is safe and restful.
I love the rain and wish we would have some....You captured the violet beautifully....such a heavenly color!
I think of the victims of Irene daily and wonder how they are doing....what a week it was with the earth quake and damaging some of our precious National Treasures. What a spring and summer with the floods, the tornado's and now another storm threatening the gulf!
Have a safe and happy weekend!

Oh my! your garden is delightful FlowerLady! I think rainfall is the cure for any garden suffering such ours in our area. You can water and water with tap water, but plants still perish. We are so needing rainfall.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Floods have caused a lot of damage in India too. Many people have lost their lives.
Your flowers are ravishing
I am glad you have had some rain - at least you don't have to water! My garden is a jungle too, and I am not sure when I can get around to clearing it, but I am looking forward to it already.
