Good afternoon Folks ~ As I am typing, thunder is booming, gray skies are all around, and rain is headed our way. We haven’t had rain in a couple of days which has been nice.
I checked the National Hurricane Center earlier and below was the latest picture of the activity. We get a new update every 3 hours, the next one will be at 5 p.m. Hopefully the orange and yellow blobs will dissipate, and the huge red blob, will go the way Katia is going, back out to sea.
For supper tonight I am fixing calves liver with onions, mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. As kids DH and I HATED liver and sprouts. Both of our mothers cooked both items exactly the same. The liver was tough like boot leather, and the brussel sprouts were hard like golf balls. Since then I’ve learned how to cook both and we enjoy having them. My mouth is starting to water just talking about them. The trick is cooking both til tender, with the liver that means cooking less than more, and with the b. sprouts it means cooking them more.
Last night we had home made pizza with Italian sausage. We still have half the pizza for another night’s supper. A couple of days from now I’ll be making a special dinner and I’ll post more about that later.
Here’s is the latest ‘find’ on the street. Found by DH as he was walking on the sidewalk by the hedge that runs along the apt. complex next door. He thought at first that it was just a stick, but on closer inspection it wasn’t. He doesn’t know what kind of animal it came from. It doesn’t look like FL deer, and it is old.
I worked out in the main garden area the other morning and got a little more weeding and trimming done. Still have a lot more to do, but all in time.
This morning I came in for the camera because I saw that Kathleen was in bloom and took a few pictures. Her sweet scent was filling the air around her.

Lovely blooms going on for you. Had Brussel Sprouts with my own dinner tonight. Definitely have to be cooked longer.

SCOOT SCOOT!! Back out to sea you darn Hurricane! We got loads of rain yesterday, which I loved... until I slipped and sprained my ankle in the wet grass. I could sure use a piece of that pizza right about now,as I sit on the bed,leg elevated, feeling sorry for myself. yummmm!

My favorite dinner is liver and onions. I would rather have that than steak. I cook b. sprouts in some water for a while then cut them in half and saute them in butter to finish up.We seem to have similar tastes...Balisha

A little rain is always nice, but hurricanes aren't. Hope you stay safe.
Mmmm, FlowerLady, we love calf's liver. Haven't cooked it in forever. Maybe I should do that soon. Love brussel sprouts, too, and of course, mashed potatoes. My DH might want to join you or better yet, move in with you!
Your description of liver makes it sound yummy. My only recollection is the tough as boot leather stuff served at school (during summer camp) .. and I needed my mother's note from home excusing me from eating (gagging) it ;)

I LOVE liver and onions. Being Portuguese, it's something we ate quite a lot and I haven't had it in so many years :)
