Good evening Friends ~ I want to thank all of you who have left comments on one of my favorite roses, Maman Cochet, and the Tiger in the Roses. I should have said Tigress, because Tork is a girl. Your comments always are appreciated, and inspiring.
This morning we headed out to do our errands as we usually do on this day, and ended up doing some curbside shopping. We drove past, then had to back up to check out what these really were. I thought they were boards with cement stuck to them from contstruction, (this was out of the corner of my eye, because I hadn't really looked at the pile as we drove past). DH said, What was that? I told him what I thought it might be, and we both thought it worth checking out as he put the van in reverse, and backed up so we could check these pieces out. Well, when we saw what they were, we couldn't load them into the van fast enough. They are a composite material not carved wood, but heck they look wonderful.
They are heavy, 10 1/2" high x 70 1/2" long, maybe 3" thick at the thickest part. There are 5 of these. We plan to sell 4 and keep one. :-) Click on pictures for a larger view.
We are going to salvage the pickets and make fencing for my main garden.
Someone had cut up their fencing into 24"and 30" sections,
easy for us to load into the van.
As they are, they equal 29 1/2'.
They are leaning against my shed.
The other section painted purple we 'curbside shopped' many years ago.
The sign on my shed was another find a long time ago.
Bougainvillea is growing on the side of shed,
woven into the fencing we attached to the shed.
We never know what we might find, any given day,
when we head out to do anything.
We have been 'junkin' our whole married life,
almost 41 years,we can't stop now.
The double size head/foot boards for our bed
were found dumped in Spain,
made out of beech wood.
One of our favorite 'curbside shopped' finds.
I will show them another time.
Anyone out there may find treasures in their areas,
you just have to open your eyes,
and not be embarrassed to stop and pick something up.
It does take a little getting used to,
at least it did for me,
especially if you are in well-to-do areas.
But remember,
what may be trash to one,
is treasure to another.

Oh! What lovely treasures! :-)
What treasures, Flowerlady! You and your DH have an eye for the unusual and for the usable. Great job.
If I saw picket fences laying beside the road, I wouldn't be able to get them in the truck fast enough. Love the "carvings" as well.
Those are amazing! What a find! I love trash day. My eyes are always darting to both sides of the road. You got really lucky today!
Agreed, FL! I am a huge fan of curbside shopping. After all, why not? Your finds are fantastic! Good for you!
Lady you really know how to curbside shop. LOL! What a pretty find. Aren't you glad you put that van into reverse? ;-)
