Friday morning blooms

Good morning Everyone ~ It is another drippy morning as we had yet another thunderstorm pass over early last evening dumping more rain. Our jungle is growing like crazy.  It’s too wet to mow in the morning, too hot and miserable to mow in the middle of the day, and the mosquitoes are out at night.

I took some pictures earlier and wanted to get this post done before I head off to work.

So, here are today’s blooms.

This sweet little rose bud is Phyllis Bide.

Resurrection Ferns growing up our Norfolk pine tree.  When there is no rain, this fern is just a dry, brown shriveled bit of stuff, but as soon as it rains it becomes this.

This is an unknown fern given to me by a friend many years ago.  Maybe someone who grows ferns will be able to give me a name.

These next several pics are of the sweet little rose called Cocktail.  I’ve had her many, many years now.

Thank you for your anniversary wishes.  We had a lovely celebration dinner last night.

Hope you all have a great weekend whatever you are doing.

For those in flooded areas and those where the wild fires are burning, may you all have relief soon.

Watching TS Emily–Blooms after a rain

Good morning everyone ~ We are keeping our eye on Tropical Storm Emily.  Yesterday they showed her path with a possibility of coming right at and over us, as a hurricane.  This morning her path is moving along the coast and she is staying a TS, so hopefully she’ll just head on back out to sea. Rain is expected over the next few days and for that I will be grateful. God’s watering the earth is much better than my hand watering.

Yesterday morning I took my camera out after we had had a nice rain and before it became unbearably hot and humid.

These are blooms of the Pandora vine.

I love this pattern looking from above of Mother-of-millions. The grey/greens and silvery blues are nice too, with a hint of flesh color.

I love this heart shape. I love hearts, love collecting them, usually seen them all over the place.  But, I did not see the heart shaped cloud in the photo I posted a few posts back.  Once it was pointed out to me I couldn’t get over how I had missed it.  But I had been so impressed by the light and the clouds that I missed the obvious.

The next three pictures are of my shed’s garden with the wonderful crepe myrtle in full bloom right now.  She gets top heavy too and starts to bend over with the weight of watered blooms.

The end of a gift of another day

Hi Folks ~ Here it is the end of another day, which was a gift, from the giver of all gifts.

We had a thunderstorm blow over early yesterday evening, giving us a good bit of rain.  I am thankful.

This morning I got out early to the so-called ‘back 40’ to pull tall weeds, which fortunately came up easy, then DH got back there and mowed.  What a difference.  He went around to the backside of our little barn and mowed there too.  Then I mowed what I usually mow, then I got out the electric hedge clippers and did the front hedgerow.  That wore me out.  Tomorrow I will take care of some other stuff that needs to be raked and bagged for the county to pick up.  What we put out there for them they turn into free mulch for the taking.

I’m not sure of the distance, where the stars are is the front entry sidewalk and gate, which we keep locked, to keep the night people out and any others who happened to think they can just walk in.

This is the front gate, part of one bird has fallen off, and I need to find another piece of weathered wood to make another one with.  There is a sidewalk on the other side of the gate.  The front patio which I look out onto from my little creative space indoor, is just on the other side of the greenery.

Here is the entry gate from the driveway.  It also stays locked most of the time.  We’ve had people come into our property at night before we put up this gate and the one across the driveway. It feels better having barriers from the outside world that’s for sure.

Now for some blooms taken today. Below is Jewels of Opar.  A sweet plant that I’ve grown from seeds from a FL gardening friend who lives in the middle of the state. This plant reseeds easily.

Here is my pink crepe myrtle.  Have several of these around the property.

This is a little rose called Golden Sun, which I bought many years ago online from a lady in the middle of the state.  The blooms are no more than 2” across, if that.

The clouds caught my eye.

I worked on this piece this afternoon.  Hadn’t touched it in over a week.  I enjoyed sitting here listening to soothing music working with needle and thread.

Well, that’s it for this evening.  I need to get up to head into the scullery to wash dishes before it gets too late.

Have a nice evening/morning and a great day tomorrow/today wherever you are.

In Spite of ...

Good morning. I hope everyone is surviving the 'dog days of summer'.

In spite of heat and humidity, we're still surviving as are the gardens. I have worked outdoors 4 mornings this week. Yesterday I was pooped and sore from the other three mornings of work and could hardly get going so I only worked outside for 2 hours instead of the 3-4 of other mornings. There is still more to do, but I'm working at my job the next two days so will have a time of relaxation from the gardens.

I did take a couple of pictures of a lovely purple crepe myrtle ~ Lagerstroemia Indica, that bloomed for me this year. I've had this a long time, and it only blooms every now and then. The leaves of this tree are larger than the other crepes I have, except for the Queen Crepe. I was thrilled when I saw buds and then the open blooms.

The pictures are below. Click on pictures for a larger view.

Have a great weekend whatever your plans.
