Beauty from an overgrown subtropical cottage garden

Greetings from Plum Cottage,

Well, the problem with uploading photos to Blogger was fixed by switching to a different browser. It is so nice to have that issue taken care of.

Down here in s.e. FL, I have been getting hints of fall coming. My dear husband used to laugh when in August I would get these hints and say to him "Fall is coming." We still had the hot and steamy weather of September to get through, and sometimes into October.

I have lots of blooms to share and hope you enjoy the 'eye candy'. I am surprised sometimes when walking around my overgrown/weedy garden spaces and come upon a recently opened flower. Always a delight. We need to look up, down and all around, taking in the sights, scents and sounds.

Another unknown rose. Names fade away on tags. This might be 'Double Delight'.

Rainy day ~ Lots of flowers

Good afternoon Folks ~ We’ve had rain off and on since 5 yesterday afternoon. More is expected through the weekend. I did some gardening yesterday morning, then mowed after a nap as it looked like rain was coming. I went to the grocery store in a lull this morning, and soon after I got back home it rained, same with taking pictures this afternoon.

If these are too many pictures to look at please tell me and I won’t  post this amount in the future.  I couldn’t help myself when I was outside, all of the colors on a gray day, and after working inside for the past five, three at my job and two here at home.

For Rebecca who loves the caravan.

I found this painted yellow hope chest a few years back, did a U-ie to go back and load it in my van.  It must be cedar because that is what it smells like inside. It was out front of a day care center.  I took it out of the bedroom to make way for the desk I set up in there. In the caravan, I’ve still got to finish walls and then paint the whole thing.  All in good time. There’s only half of the team now, and I’m learning as I go without my loving tutor, coach, mentor. I’m used to being the helper with ideas, not the whole workforce.

That’s it for now. The bread machine made a loaf of coconut milk bread earlier and I’m going to cook a pot of lentils for supper.  I have another day off from work, so plan to putter indoors working in the bedroom. Did some today, it will take awhile to finish this room, but every day there is forward progress.

Watching TS Emily–Blooms after a rain

 

Good morning everyone ~ We are keeping our eye on Tropical Storm Emily.  Yesterday they showed her path with a possibility of coming right at and over us, as a hurricane.  This morning her path is moving along the coast and she is staying a TS, so hopefully she’ll just head on back out to sea. Rain is expected over the next few days and for that I will be grateful. God’s watering the earth is much better than my hand watering.

Yesterday morning I took my camera out after we had had a nice rain and before it became unbearably hot and humid.

These are blooms of the Pandora vine.

I love this pattern looking from above of Mother-of-millions. The grey/greens and silvery blues are nice too, with a hint of flesh color.

Self-sown Celosia bloom is a bit top heavy .

Chrysler Imperial rose.

A tropical grouping of potted plants in our screened area.

I love this heart shape. I love hearts, love collecting them, usually seen them all over the place.  But, I did not see the heart shaped cloud in the photo I posted a few posts back.  Once it was pointed out to me I couldn’t get over how I had missed it.  But I had been so impressed by the light and the clouds that I missed the obvious.

The next three pictures are of my shed’s garden with the wonderful crepe myrtle in full bloom right now.  She gets top heavy too and starts to bend over with the weight of watered blooms.
