2020 - A New Year - A New Decade

Hello Folks ~ I hope your holidays were filled with love and peace, joy and good things to eat. I am thankful for God's continuing love and care. Without Him I would be lost. I am blessed with flowers 365 days a year and I am happy to share some that were blooming on Christmas day and on the 28th, here with you.

Today there is a big blue sky, sun is shining bright and the temp mild and breezy. For about a week we had gray skies and rain off and on. Laundry piled up as I don't have a washer/dryer inside here. My washing machine is in my shed, and I have a 'solar' dryer to hang the laundry from. So, one load was done yesterday and another done today.

This morning I also tackled an overgrown area back by where I park, and made forward progress. Below is a photo from 09-25-19. It was worse than this photo because 3 months have gone by.

Forward progress, although it doesn't look like much was done. But, grass was grown up into the iron wheel and all across the bottom of wall, with a weedy shrub at the corner.

More work to be done in the two photos below, trimming, weed eating and mowing. Never ending.

Here is the amaryllis bulb, about 3 weeks from when it was given to me. I have no idea what color it is, probably red. That is an orchid plant next to it. This is looking south, out towards the road.

This post is long enough, so I'll post later about my Christmas books.

May 2020 be a year of blessings, large and small.

P.S. I posted to my other blog 'The Continuing Journey', if you're interested.

You got lots done, Lorraine! It looks really nice there after all your hard work. Hard to believe you have such beautiful flowers in January. I know you're glad to see the sunshine again and be able to start catching up on laundry. I bet sheets smell so good after being dried on your solar dryer!

Take care, dear friend,
Dewena

Happy New Year Lorraine. Thanks for the uplifting photos of your prized
flowers and even showing off your hard work cleaning up. You must stay
young from all that exercise!

Oh, I can see a big difference in the shed. That must have been a job. That's the kind of thing I enjoy doing. It is amazing to think about all those flowers in bloom at Christmas. They're beautiful. Blue skies sound pretty! We have had lots of rain lately... 2 inches last night. It's very cloudy, dark, and dreary and a muddy pond. I'm looking forward to spring. I think living in Florida would make me happy.

You got a lot done. I can certainly tell the difference..and also know how crazy and wild things can get in FL in a short period of time. Your flowers are beautiful. The joy of living in Florida for a gardener is that you can always have something growing all year long.

Have a blessed Sunday- xo Diana

Glad you got some good laundry weather! It is a new year, a time of hope and peace. Your flower photos, btw, always make me feel peaceful. Now that I've been visiting here a few years, each time I see some of them it's like seeing an old friend :)

Such beautiful flowers you get to enjoy Lorraine! How it must bless your heart to see and smell them! They are glorious! And that was a lot of work you got accomplished around your little shed, it really does look amazing. I'm sure it does grow up very fast. It must be so much to keep up with. Always a delight to visit with you, many blessings :)

I don't know how you keep up with all that outside work by yourself. That's a lot to take care of! Your flowers sure are beautiful. Oh, how I miss them here in the winter.

oh you do have such the prettiest blooms to show! I admire your determination and energy to get your place cleared. Here, the prickly pear cactus is so overwhelming and it takes over any land it can. I have gotten so much of it chopped out.......but it is an every day thing to do. It cant be chopped and left on the ground because it regrows quickly that way. It is very heavy to pick up and move.....along with the thorns......so it really wears me out. However, it makes a difference in the long run. Cant wait to see what color your Amaryllis will be!

So many beautiful blooms in the Winter. Looks like a lot of work on your outside area. Things look tidy but I understand the never ending aspect of a yard like this. At least we have a snow cover that makes outdoor work non existent in the winter months. A happy New Year to you!

You've got that right...never ending work! But, it keeps us out of trouble, active and limber.
Christmas season was pleasant...no drama, lots of good food, family, friends and church.
Re laundry - mine is hunt on outside line or, if wet/sleety/snowing, it's put on clothes horses inside. With electric (ugh) heat, it's dry and the moisture of wet clothes drying helps the air.
