Home Sweet Home

Hi Folks ~ Just a quick note to say that Miss Tork and I arrived back to our 'home sweet home' this morning and we are so glad to be here. I am thankful to my friend for opening up her home to us during our Dorian scare/watch. The past week has been very tense as we watched a Category 5 hurricane head our way, with winds of 185 mph, then stall out over the Bahamas, causing so much damage, and loss of life as well. To see the videos of the devastation is heart wrenching and makes me so thankful to God for turning the storm away from us. It wasn't until yesterday afternoon seeing that Dorian was no longer a real threat to us, as it started to move up the coast, that I could really relax. We hardly got any wind or rain from this major hurricane. It was about 100 miles east of us when it was closest. Our highest gusts where I am might have been 40 mph. I may leave the house boarded up until hurricane season is over, which is in Nov.

I am praying for those in the Bahamas as they rebuild their lives and for all those still in the path of Dorian. Going through all of this makes me appreciate so much more, what I have been blessed with.

Thank you for prayers and words of encouragement.

So glad that you managed to keep clear of it Lorraine. It's been on the news here in the UK.

So good to know you're back home safe and that Plum Cottage is fine too! It is heartbreaking to watch what has happened in the Bahamas. There's such a sinking feeling of wondering where in the world do they even start to restore normalcy there.

The devastation is immense and so hard to imagine or understand. I am SO thankful you and Miss Tork are safe, a dear friend offered you a safe haven, and your home is again filled with you both.

Been watching from Australia Lorraine, such devastation. Prayers answered, you are safe. Our hurricane (cyclone watch) commences in November and stops in April. Have been through two in my life realising how furious nature can be. Hugs Rose

I've been thinking and praying that you and Mrs. Tork were safe. Happy to hear from you today. It suppose to be coming up our way (Eastern Canada) on the weekend. It will not be as bad and strong by then.
Take care, Thelma..

Watching the news, these past few days has produced so many mixed feelings! On the one hand, deep relief and so much thankfulness that our friend and her Plum Cottage would be spared. On the other hand, deep sorrow for the many many families in the Bahamas who got hit with this storm. Like another comment above, it's so difficult to comprehend why these things should happen the way that they do. I pray for everyone who faces natural disasters around the world.

So glad you and all of Florida were spared! Now the poor Carolinas are in its crosshairs. Our former pastor moved to Georgetown, SC last year, not far from Charleston. Hurricane Alley. Ugh. Feeling for him! Take care, Lorraine!

Praise God it turned! I was happy to hear from my sister that y'all's area came out basically unscathed. Terrible for the Bahamas and it will be years of rebuilding. :(
We are expecting major flooding from Dorian tomorrow here on the VA coast. We're all set though and don't really have to worry about the water coming in our house since it's raised.
