It’s a new day

Good morning Folks ~ I had a good night’s sleep, it is nice and cool out, I’ve crocheted a sweet little ‘flutter-by’ designed by Karen of Todolwen. Click the link to take you to her lovely little tutorial and check out her archives while you are there. She is quite the creative lady of sweet and beautiful pieces.
Here is my first try:

I had read earlier in a post by Glenda of the ‘Writer’s Circle Around the Table’ to Keep Dreaming, then came upon the little tutorial by Karen so, my day has started off on a positive note.
Yesterday the mail delivered my give-away win from Sandra of ‘Diary of a Stay at Home Mom’. I have enjoyed Sandra’s blog for years now and I think you will too.
She made the sweet handmade goodies in the give-away, and I’ve already found some delicious recipes to try in the Amish cookbook and look forward to making them. She also sent a little something extra that I enjoyed last evening.
I love how she wrapped these gifts.

Here are the goodies. Crocheted flowers, a crocheted wash bag, two dish cloths, one crocheted, the other knitted, a lace covered candle holder, and a fabric book cover, plus the wonderful cookbook.

Here is a photo taken with the wonderfully scented tea light candle, lit last evening. I love how the light flickered through the lace on the candleholder.
Those Buxom Beauty roses behind the candle are something else. They are HUGE and I can smell their sweet scent this morning. They won’t last much longer unfortunately, but they were wonderful while they have lasted.

We have this box of old children’s blocks in our ‘stash of stuff’, and quite some time ago I picked out the letters to spell ‘love’ and they are sitting on top of the tv.

Yesterday at the grocery store they had some ground lamb which is a rare occurrence, I bought a pkg. I have some eggplant and got out several of my cookbooks last night to find the Moussaka recipe that I wanted to make and found it. DH really liked this recipe and I do to. I can freeze left-overs to re-heat on days that I work.
Guess that’s it for now. It’s starting to get light out and I’ve things to get started on for today.

The crocheted butterfly is the sweetest thing. What do you think you might do with them when you're finished?

Your gifts are lovely too. The lace-covered candle holder looks quite beautiful with the tealight alight inside. Those Roses are stunning too.

I've just recently discovered your blog and I have gone back thru your archives and wanted to let you know how sorry I am about your husband. I admire your strength and courage. Your talent with the needle is amazing and your gardens are so lovely. You have inspired me to make the most of every day with my loved ones and to never take things for granted. Thank you.

What sweet counsel in the Victor Hugo quote. I needed that.

I so look forward to each of your posts...to see how you are using your time and accomplishing your "daily tasks". God bless you in THIS day, dear one.

Hi FlowerLady,

I checked out Karen's blog and I can only imagine that I read her post wrong - is that butterfly the size of a penny?

Since I crochet, I thought I'd take a look at her instructions. Easy my rear. . . .If it's that tiny my long fingers would never be able to master holding the thread!

I so envy your ability to create with such tiny things - like your beautiful bead work. And I do love this butterfly . . . even if I'll never master it myself. :-)

Hugs,

eli

Moussaka is one of my favorite dishes. We don’t get ground lamb here often either. Some days they have it at the Greek restaurant. It’s a small family place and it depends on what the mother feels like cooking. Kind of like home now that I think about it. Enjoy.
