This piece is moving right along. I work on it here and there when I have a chance. The scripture verse has long been a favorite of mine. In the past few months I came across a blog of free patterns for different sea creatures, and after I made a couple this project started taking shape in my mind. I knew beads would be the sand, and since sand is found abundantly along our beaches, I decided to use some of the sea creatures.
I have to say that Susan from Plays With Needles is a huge inspiration to me. Her work leaves me almost speechless at times. It is so wonderfully and beautifully detailed. Much time and thought goes into every one of her pieces. I’ve been following her for a couple of years now and I’m in awe of her creativity. I feel like a real novice compared to her. Do visit her and check out her various projects, you will NOT be disappointed, you will be inspired.

Here is how my creative space looks at the moment. A wreck.
This stuff is all moved out where I can see it and get to drawers on the left. Otherwise it’s all in a stack in front of the drawers. My little space is only 6’x8’.
A friend recently gave me a whole lot of sewing thread that had been her mothers. I have them stored in clear egg cartons. I’ve already used some of the threads in embroidery. There are antique laces and other bits, beads, crochet threads, embroidery threads, etc.
I always have several projects going on at once. I can’t stop myself.

Oh yea, DH really like our dinner of chicken breasts with caper - lime sauce. The left-overs are in the fridge for another night.
That’s it for now. I’m about ready to get horizontal to read for awhile. Mowing wore me out this morning.

Your work is so beautiful. I wish I could be half as talented. I am sadly lacking in needlework skills. I have a bottle of capers in my pantry right now but have never cooked with it. Your chicken sounds great!

First of all, I am honored that I inspire you. But you need to know that you also inspire me.
I absolutely love that little sea sampler...quote and all...and have added it to my inspiration file.
I also really love all those components that you crocheted. Even the little folded "fan" works.
I really like the stitch you used for the fern up the sides. Did you couch a thicker thread? If so, it's very effective because it looks like the articulated branches of a certain seaweed that I can't remember the name of at the moment.
And as for your work space, it looks like a wrack line...And we all know what kinds of treasures we can find in a wrack line...beautiful!!!
