Picket fence facelift

Good afternoon Folks,

It has been a lovely day today, and I hope you all have had one as well.

Thank you again for all of your feel better wishes. I'm not 100% back to normal, but better than I was. I just take each day as it comes and deal with it. I've had to resort to OTC pain meds, and I don't like to do that, but it helps having the pain gone so that the muscles will relax and heal. Healing herbs and vitamins, and massages are all contributing to the healing.

I've worked 8 days in the last two weeks, and it felt good having today off to putter around here. I washed and hung out a load of laundry, laid some decking boards, and painted the picket fencing that we put up a couple of weekends ago. I sat on a plastic milk crate to paint, I was in the shade and there was a nice breeze. Only got the front done and hopefully will do the backside Tuesday morning.

As I posted before, the fencing was 'found' curbside, cut into 24"-30" sections. This morning when I thought about painting, I went out back to check on what kind of paint we had in our stash of curbside shopped paint. The paint I used was in a 5 gal bucket, maybe between 1/3 and 1/2 full. The paint had settled, so we had to mix it up, and it's a nice creamy color and I love how it turned out.

Here is the area as it was with the clothesline. AWFUL.

Here is after clothesline is moved and the picket fencing put up.

Here are two pictures from today. :-)

There is still more tweaking to do in this whole area and I will show it as things progress.

Now, here are some pics of Kathleen, a hybrid musk and a really sweet rose that I bought many, many years ago.

I don't work again until Thursday, so look forward to puttering around here. May you all have a great week whatever you are doing, wherever you are.

Begin doing what you want to do now.

We have only this moment,

sparkling like a star in our hand,

and melting like a snowflake.

Kathleen is beautiful!
Glad you're feeling up to puttering in the garden and getting some painting done.

Wow! Your 'puttering' would be a full day's work for me! Take care. Love the white rose. Pink in bud - how beautiful!

I love hybrid musk roses. I really like how the center of Kathleen looks. The yellow is wonderful next to the pure white.

What a difference you have made in the Clothesline Bed. You must have a new name for this area by now. The white fence really sets it off. Maybe call it the Picket Fence Bed?

We are having horrific winds and very hot weather today. A storm can't be far behind!

I'm glad to read that you are feeling better. And I am glad that you will have some down time to just putter about a bit. The "new" old fence looks awesome. It's the little changes we make that keep things fresh and interesting.

'Puttering' indeed! You just can't keep a good woman down! I'm glad you felt up to doing some work though, as the result is fantastic. What a difference! Yes, I think this area deserves a smarter name now too.

Kathleen is wonderful. Such lovely flowers ... and I love how they change colour as they mature. Look after yourself!

What a precious corner in its new look! Glad you felt up to puttering. Where did the clothesline go? Mine folds and goes in the toolshed.

Oh I hope you are feeling much better! Love the looks of the new garden. I can't wait to start in mine, but alas, it snowed again this morning....LOL Most is melted but it was such a surprise after the sun yesterday. Kit

So good to hear you're feeling a little better, FlowerLady. I like what you've done with the 'found' picket fence. You two are most resourceful!

Have a good week puttering in the garden. And feel lots better by the time you return to work.

Sorry to hear about your back, hope it feels better soon. Your fence looks great! I can't wait to get ours painted, if we ever have some dry days in a row.
The rose is so pretty, it reminds me some of an apple blossom.

Beautiful transformation, FL! And what a great curbside found that picket fence is! Glad to hear you are better.

Very, very pretty!! It seems like nothing says home more then a white picket fence. Glad you are feeling a wee bit better. I am like you...don't like reaching for the OTC meds, but sometimes they are necessary. Enjoy you time off this week.

Hi Flowerlady...Glad to hear you're getting better everyday. Sometimes we just have to resort to some stronger stuff to get the job done. Your fence looks brand new. I wish it was that easy to give us mid-aged folks a "facelift." :-) It's such a rewarding feeling to take something old and tired looking and give it a new lease on life. Can't wait to see future pics of what you do.

Oh my, what a difference. That spot was just made for that picket fence. It looks wonderful. Your little white rose is so pretty and dainty looking. Take care of yourself.

Painting the picket fence really made a huge difference. I liked it before but now, WOW. Enjoy your puttering and keep healing.

Wow, what a difference, that area looks so much better with the picket fence! What a great landscape designer you are. I love the close-ups of Kathleen's stamens, so dainty.

I didn't know what happened to your back earlier, but i'm glad you feel better now, and you seem to be doing a lot. Maybe you should not be in a hurry to finish them or the back ache will return. Take care and thanks for visiting my site again.

I’m so glad you felt up to "Puttering" in the garden! When I started reading, I was like, “NO don’t paint that beautiful rustic fence.” Then once seeing the picture, I like the painted fence! This area is looking so great and I hope you are up to puttering more…

I so enjoy watching the "evolution" opf projects such as yours. What a difference the paint made! Can't wait to see what else you plan for this area. Wishing you a steady return to health & energy...

The fence turned out so beautifully; what a transformation. I'm so glad you're on the mend, chronic back pain is so exhausting. I love your rose and the way the gardens are changing yet again...I think it was lovely before but with your magic touch it just keeps becoming more and more beautiful.

You sure are creative and resourceful! The fence turned out great! I'm sorry you are continuing to have pain. I have something going on behind my left knee, but I'm thinking it is on the way to healing. We'll see next time I get out in the garden.

I love that quote!
