I long for cooler weather

This summer heat and humidity really has me dragged out. Right now it's 87 and with the humidity feels like it's 106. I worked in and around my main garden Sunday morning and again this morning and sweat buckets. There is so much more that needs doing, but not in this weather. I can only work outside a couple of hours before I start feeling drained, start tripping over my own feet, and realize it's time to call it quits.

Cooler weather is not expected for us until the end of October, IF we are lucky.

Here are just a few blooms.

An unknown pass-along daylily from a friend.

Prosperity roses.

The next two pictures are of Duchesse de Brabant blooms.

May I learn to appreciate the beauty and gift of life in each passing day.

I feel every bit of what you are saying. Hot HOT Hot. It is hot every year but this year it seems worse. I can't do anything outdoors either and don't want to in this heat. Instead I'll stay indoors and watch TV - love Howie Mandel in Deal or No Deal.

Beautiful blooms.

You are so right that need some cool weather. I only work in the garden after 7 or 8 in the evening now...

Seems your roses don't mind the heat and humidity at all. My hybrid rose bushes are very sad looking with black spots. Few flowers produced are burned quickly in the sun. Any idea where I can find the varieties of your roses? I am convinced that hybrid roses are not really suit for the weather here.

I bet you are getting tired of the heat wave. It has been a hot summer so far but I am enjoying it. It is just going so fast. We got a little cool down over the weekend and a sprinkle of rain in our area. The Prosperity rose is so pretty.
Take care and as cool as you can.

Love the Thoreau quote. I am trying to do just that. Each season has its benefit in weather and in life.

Take it easy outside. Sounds like you know what your heat limits are. I'm doing much the same, just working outside before 10AM. What gets done is what gets done. (Sometimes I sneak back out after 7PM.)

I agree with Kay. If I don't get it done now, I'll catch up later at the end of Sept. Right now I work in little spurts. I figure enough "little spurts" will get the job done eventually. Your current posies are very pretty, especially the rose.

I'll take the heat over winters like this past one anyday. November and December do seem to be the most pleasant months, though, don't they? Not only is it a bit cooler, but my garden always looks great then, especially since we never get a frost in those months (knock on wood!) If only we had more daylight then, I might long for them as well. Right now, I'm just gonna enjoy the long, long days of summer, as Thoreau suggests. :^)

Love your daylilies and roses!

I believe the majority of us are hot, hot, hot. We have that humidity that makes it so much worse, don't you agree?

The older I get, the slower I get. The hotter I get, the slower I get. The older and hotter I get.......the faster the weeds seem to grow. But, I'm grateful for my beating heart and my growing garden. This heat?.....it soon shall pass.....

Well stopping and smelling the roses, your certainly can do. Your flowers look great. I love the new music.

That is hot. We are pretty lucky here that even when it gets hot it's a dry heat. Your flowers don't seem affected by the heat at all, so fresh looking!

Very hot and humid here too and we are needing rain again.

The roses are still looking very pretty. I think I have that same daylily and a double just like it.

I know we should appreciate each day but it is hard in this heat!

Have a good day.

PLease be careful dear Rainey and don't overdo it! Hot heretoo. Wish the weeds' energy would get sapped in this heat. I've had to wave the white flag. Don't know how I'll ever get my garden to look orderly again.

Heat is just brutal, isn't it? Normally we get breaks between heat waves but not this year. When it's hot here I always think of places that are even hotter and wonder how people cope.
