Onion-Pepper Bread

Today has been gray and blustery all day with a threat of rain as a cold front is moving down our way. I decided to put my bread machine to use and picked the Onion bread recipe, but added some freshly ground black pepper to it.

The aroma filled the air as it baked and when DH came in after it was done he said, "What is that I smell?" He looked in the kitchen and said, "Oh, bread." We had it for lunch in sandwiches. Yummy!

The recipe came with the book that came with my bread machine, an Oster 2 lb. Expressbake Breadmaker.

***
1 1/2 lb. loaf

1 c. plus 2 tbs. water
1/2 c. chopped onion or 2 tbs. dried
1 tbs. margarine or butter, softened
3 1/4 c. bread flour
2 tbs. sugar
1 tbs. dry milk
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 tsp. yeast
*I added a few turns from the pepper mill

1.) Measure and add liquid ingredients to the bread pan.

2.) Measure, mix and add dry ingredients (except yeast) to the bread pan.

3.) Make a well in the flour mixture in pan, and add your yeast there.

4.) Select Basic setting.

5.) Select crust color.

6.) Start.

Enjoy

I have a bread machine my parents gave me because they weren't using it. I have only used it a few times. I don't have much room on my counter, so it's put away where I don't see it. Your bread looks yummy. I'll have to get my machine out over our 2 week break, and try your recipe.

In the past, I have made a bunch of loaves by hand to give my co-workers at Christmas time, but tonight, I am packing snack bags with two tea bags each, and an assortment of holiday flavored "kisses" and other individually wrapped holiday candy as I read and make comments on blogs.
