Sunshine, wind, roses, and thank you

Good Saturday morning Folks,

The sun is shining and we are having lots of wind.  The temps are cooler too. We are thankful. The wind chimes are making their sweet music.

My heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones and homes. in Jamaica, Haiti and Cuba. I hope and pray Sandy does not turn into the storm that they are predicting.

My post was so long the other day that I didn’t get to put all the roses plus a couple other plants in it, so I’ll post them here today.

Please accept our heartfelt thank you for your prayers and thoughts this past week. They mean so much to both of us. I broke down crying reading out loud to DH, (dear husband). We don’t have it as bad as some people do, but when we all go through different things in our lives, they seem big and bad. Prayers and good wishes never hurt any of us, so thank you, thank you.

Birthday plants–Fla gardeners I need id’s please

Good afternoon everyone ~ Thank you all for your kind bday wishes. I am having a lovely day so far. I decided against getting another rose bush for now, and instead went to a place that has plants, pavers, garden stuff, dirt, mulch. We’ve passed it several times now and they’ve had a big banner * out all plants $5 *. So, since it’s my bday and also the first day of spring, I wanted to go check this place out. I had some tip $ from my job so used that. This ought to do me for buying plants for some time, especially since I’ll probably be able to propagate all of them from cuttings.

Before I left, DH washed my car, so I sat in the Caravan’s garden enjoying the beautiful day, the blooms and scents, the birds singing and the gentle breezes while he lovingly did the work. I gave him a big kiss when he was done and thanked him, then took off. He’s not crazy about shopping at all, so it was a solo jaunt for me.

I wanted color and scent, and ended up buying 6 plants. Two of them I don’t know what they are. I’ll post their pictures first hoping one of the Florida gardeners will be able to help me, we are down here in s.e. FL, zone 10. This place did NOT know the names of all of their plants. These two happened to not have a name tag on a specimen plant up by the office. The guy inside said he thought this first one was an alamanda. Nah!

This is a sweet scented flowering woody vine.

The purple leaves caught my eyes on this little shrub, then I saw the sweet looking flowers and was hooked. They did say this has flowers all year. I haven’t a clue what it is and have not seen this before.

This Allamanda or Mandevilla caught my eye with its vibrant wonderful color.

An azalea whose colors I love. Now I have two different kinds, George Tabor and this one, whatever it is.

Thunbergia erecta, or King’s Mantle ‘Alba’. I have this in purple already.

I am quite pleased and look forward to propagating from all of these.
