This and that

Hi Folks ~ This will be relatively short as I’m not feeling good, sore throat and slightly nauseous. I only got about 4 hours sleep last night. Something is going around again and it’s nabbing me. Ugh!

My dear sister-in-law Sue and I had a great time together this past Wed. night. I had free tickets from the owners of the dogs I’m watching, while they are in Finland, to see, Cirque du Soleil: Varekai . We had suite seats which was GREAT. Little rooms with seating for maybe 20, a bathroom and like a bar area with warming trays for food. It was first come first serve for seats and we got two together right up by the glass partition.  Both of us had vertigo at first, which went away after awhile. Here’s a pic of the two of us before the show started, which by the way was fantastic. The costumes, acrobatics, music and the male/female comedian duo was all wonderful, beautiful, funny. No flash allowed and lights were out for the show, so it was dark in our little space. They had some lights on in the auditorium so you could see where you were going.

Sue about had a heart attack because she thought the flash was off on her camera and lo and behold it wasn’t as you can see in this picture below. Needless to say, we did not take any more pictures after these two. Smile The show ‘police’ did not come and throw us out, we were so relieved. I put a line around the stage.

Sue and I really enjoyed our time together talking, laughing, with a few tears, on our ride to and from the show.  We grew closer. (She is the wife of my dear husband’s brother Todd, who has been a big help to me with projects since my husband went to his heavenly home. They live a little over an hour away from me.)

If any of you get the chance to see one of these shows, do so.

One more cactus bloom opened on my ‘jobsite’s’ cactus and I got a picture of it.  These are only open for a short time during the night. This one was already closing up around 7 a.m.

Later on back at home while sitting in my little space here, a flash of movement caught my eye, and there was the Oriole again. How thrilling. I grabbed the camera but was only able to get one picture, through the window.

It is hot & humid with a big chance of rain later. I washed and hung out some laundry and hopefully will get it back in before the rains come.  Have been watching ‘Danny’. He was a hurricane but now is just a tropical rainstorm. Phew!

That’s it for now. I feel dragged out.  I’ll be glad when my time is up, the 31st is my last day, for taking care of Bella and Max. 36 days is a long time being responsible for someone else’s beloved pets. I need to mow one more time, do some pet bedding laundry, vacuum and mop the floor. The dogs are sweet and loveable so I can’t complain about them. Good dogs and I tell them so.

Have a great week and be well, be happy and be thankful.

I hope you feel better soon, and kick that bug out the door.

The show sounds wonderful; I am familiar with it though I've not seen one.

Those cactus blooms are just gorgeous !!

I have a friend who is a dog-sitter, as well. She seems to love it, although I don't think she's ever spent a whole month doing one job. That is a lot of responsibility.

Glad you two girls enjoyed a night out.

Take care of yourself and hope you feel better soon.

Rest up, lots of cool drinks, and the other work will keep till you are well again. Not too many days to go for dog caring. I am sure they and their owners so appreciate all you do and have done, a huge responsibility, which is larger than the actual work load I'm sure.

You're probably going to miss seeing the dogs on a daily basis...they sound like sweethearts. I'm sure you have plenty of your own projects to catch up on though. Take care, rest every chance you get.

Glad to hear you had such a wonderful time with your SIL, but sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I know that you have the dogs to take care of (yes, 36 days is a very long time!) but please try to get some rest in-between. That cactus bloom is exquisite.

Yes the different kinds of sickness is going around. We had the summer colds. It is neat that you had such a great visit and went to the show. I have a neighbor who is clearing out their prickly pear cactus and I am going over to get it. It always bloomed beautiful yellow flowers. Your photos show a great bloom too.

I sure hope you feel better quick!! Those summer bugs are the worst. I'm so happy for you that you got to see the show. I have never seen it, but would jump at the chance. I have heard it's wonderful.

You were lucky to get an oriole shot. The are elusive because they are so kiddish. We have a pair that visit our feeders in the spring, then feed off seeds on the flowers by the pond in the fall. We rarely see them in the summer. But this year for the first time, the male brought two babies to the feeders just a week ago. I didn't have time to catch a pic, but I'm on the watch!!
Feel Better,
xx, Carol

Hi Loraine, what a lovely time with your sil seeing that great show. You too look so happy in the pic!!
The cactus bloom is gorgeous and you captured a great shot.
Love the bird too. The dogs will always remember your care for such a long time. What a help to the travelers you have given them.
Sure hope you get to feeling better. Sounds like an early bit of flu. Rest and recoup. Stay safe in the storm.

Blessings and hugs, cm

I can imagine it was a thrill to see such a beautiful bird like an Oriole, the bird has about the same colour as the Campsis. Beautiful Epiphyllum flower too but most beautiful is the selfie of Sue and you. You two had really fun.
Hope you are feeling a bit better by now.
Regards, Janneke
