Rosemary blooms and stuff

Hello everyone ~ I hope you all had a great weekend. The predicted rain we’ve supposed to have been getting for days now, is still not happening.  What doesn’t get watered is like straw.

Yesterday morning I went out to turn the sprinkler on and what do I see but blooms on my rosemary plant.  How thrilling!  I think I’ve only had them one other time in my gardens.

When we think of the bougainvillea we think the colorful bits we see are the flowers, but not so. Look at these tiny white blooms, these are the real flowers.

Love the coloring of this hibiscus.

First blooms on the Queen Crepe.

Blue Pea vine flower.  I just love this color.  Look at the tiny pea pod growing.

Zebra butterflies love the hamelia paten bush. Hummers love this too, but I’ve not seen any yet.

‘Granada’ ~ such a beauty!!

This is going to turn into a pincushion. The fabric is more on the green side than blue.

All the embroidery is silk ribbon, in different sizes, and white.  I then colored the ribbons using my alcohol inks.  What fun!  I meant to take a picture of the back side because the ribbon was all white.

I did NOT stuff it enough!!! This is my first one, so the next one will be better.

Mother of pearl button in the center.

I crocheted a trim for it, and colored the outer edge with one of my alcohol pens.

This won’t be for sale in my little Etsy shop, as it doesn’t ‘pass muster’, ~ (idiomatic) To meet or exceed a particular standard. ~ (That’s a saying learned from being a US Navy wife.)

This morning my friend Shyrl and I loaded more iron and I am ready for a nap once again.

I hope you all have a great week ~ FlowerLady

That pin cushion is beautiful! I am always amazed at the intricate, tiny work you do.

I'm still waiting on my zebra longwings to show up. . . only ones missing from my garden now. :-)

Have a wonderful week, Rainey. Looks like the rain might hit us tomorrow now (fingers crossed).

You have just what I've always wished for - a large variety of beautiful flowers in a lovely flower garden.

Your pincushion is just too pretty to stick pins in :)

Lovely blooms. Love the Crepe. Unfortunately my Crepe died to the root this year because of the zone 4 weather. I pulled it out, not worth having if it dies all the way back sometimes. Will just enjoy yours.

Wonderful photos. Rosemary is one of my favorite plants. We had several at the old house, the bees love the flowers.

The pincushion is lovely, you are truly talented.

What beautiful blooms, Lorraine. You're definitely surrounded by "pretty"!

I have never thought of it before but you are correct. A Bougainvillea is a flower within a flower indeed! Our hummingbirds were here for about 2 weeks then they have all seem to disappear. I have no idea what has happen to my little flying jewels. I hope those were some just visiting while in transit and our resident hummers will soon appear. I miss them as they are so entertaining to me. your Pin Cushion may not pass your Muster but looks pretty darn nice to me! Love it...

When Rosemary blooms, it is always as surprise and a joy.

I love seeing the process of your projects. Your worst exceeds what the rest of us can do on a good day.

Embroidery and loading iron -- are those activities that complement each other? Load a little, rest and stitch a little; that's my way to work.

Hi Lorraine, your stitchery is always so pretty. I love the pin cushion even if it doesn't pass muster for you.

And of course your flowers are exquisite. Up here Rosemary blooms every winter. Funny how it never has for you. Plants are such peculiar things, aren't they? It's why we love them. Take care dear friend.

It passes muster in my book!

The flowers are gorgeous! I wonder if rosemary doesn't appreciate the dry? I left my big one outside during one of our coldest winters and it did not survive.

Love that pin cushion! Doesn't pass muster??? Looks perfect to me.
I enjoyed my visit here today...so many pretty flowers. You should have a garden/pretty handwork walk instead of a garage sale...and sell tickets :)

I had to smile at your rosemary blooming. I had told my husband that ours never blooms as I far as I can tell. Well, guess what? A couple of weeks ago he spotted one bloom on it. Ha, ha, way to go rosemary!! Anyway Felder Rushing said that a long time ago ladies planted rosemary near their doorway and would brush it as they went by so they could smell it. Rosemary for remembrance is what I have always heard.

That little pillow looks adorable to me -- you must have a high standard indeed for your store!! You do beautiful work. That bougainvillea color is so unique; I've never seen that orange before. I've only seen bright pink/red. I always enjoy seeing what you have blooming!

Your blooms and stitches are lovely! I like your pin cushion. You'll have to post your next one so we can see the difference.

I always enjoy seeing all of the beautiful flowers and butterflies in your garden and yard.

The embroidery and crochet on the pincushion is so intricate and lovely. I am amazed to read that you use alcohol pens to hand color the ribbon embroidery. The effects you have created with the alcohol pens and your stitching are beautiful.

I always oohh and aahhh at your flowers; love the blue pea vine, and the dainty pin cushion. I grow a lot of rosemary, both prostrate and a five foot tall bush. It makes the kitchen smell wonderful when I put it in the oven with pork.

I have a thing for pincushions and this one is just beautiful. Beautiful work. I visited your etsy shop but there was nothing there. I hope I looked in the right place.
Of course I love roses..so I looked yours over carefully...gorgeous!
I may have to have a Granada rose.
:)

Hi dear Lorraine,

Love seeing all the flowers and the Hamelia is gorgeous as are the tiger butterflies. Wow.

Yes, we're having the drought here too and it is really hard for me to give up.

Sending a big hug,

Sharon

Your first three flowers are common in our area - we must have a similar climate.

Lorraine, all the blooms in your garden are gorgeous, and the blue sky makes them even better!
It's interesting - you have butterflies there and not hummers yet, and we have the opposite - hummers are here, but I haven't seen a butterfly yet in my garden!
Have a nice week!

Your white bauhinea is beautiful. That is one of my favourite shrubs. You take such amazing photos.
Love your silk ribbon pincushion. How did you stop the dye from bleeding into the background fabric. You are so amazing
