Looking forward to fall :-)

Every summer I look forward to fall, as the summer heat and humidity are brutal down here.  All energy just gets sucked right out of you and sometimes you feel ill.  At least DH doesn’t have to deal with that anymore. He’s where it’s the perfect temperature continually.

I’ve had a  summer cold, (or else I was attacked by dust in the air from moving stuff stored for too long,) today is the 5th day.  I woke up feeling much better this morning than the last 4 days, my nose hasn’t been running like it was, cough is just about gone, and no sneezing so far today. I had to work the first two days, Sunday and Monday I just poked around here reading and relaxing.  Although I did clean and fill the jacuzzi, and relaxed in it yesterday.  That was very nice.  The temperature of the water is around 84, according to the thermometer that dangles in the water. I was happy when I flipped the switch and the pump came on and the jets did their thing.  I fill this up with the hose we do not have a hot water connection, don’t need it in FL.

Today I went out and did my errands. Bought three bags of potting soil, and didn’t succumb to the temptation of buying any plants. Smile I ‘looked’ though, but didn’t see any thing I couldn’t live without.  I’ve got plenty right now to keep me busy and to give me color, scents, texture, etc.  I am going to work on rooting cuttings and planting seeds.

When I got home, it was cloudy so I decided to take advantage of the cloud cover and mow, although I didn’t do it all, I’ll maybe do that tomorrow morning. It was hot and I didn’t want to overdo it.

Here are blooms from the past couple of days.

That’s it for now. I’m going to heat up some Navy beans that I cooked a pot of yesterday. Will serve it over jasmine rice, and enjoy it with a glass or two of Chardonnay.

Enjoy each day that you are blessed with.

So pleased you're feeling better Lorraine, and your weather in Florida sounds so similar to here in North Queensland. Summer here totally drains me. The humidity is stifling!
I am so enjoying our tropical winter at the moment, a blessed reprieve.

I don't quite share your sentiment for fall to arrive as summer has barely arrived in our North Woods. But I know the feeling at the end of our short summer. Your flowers are always beautiful .. and really .. you are blessed with an abundance of variety.

Well it rained last night here. It's been warm, not hot, but lots of cloud cover with a little blue sky peaking out. That's the northwest for you. I can't deal with humid and hot weather. I'll take the grey and the rain, but I do envy your flowers. Hugs. Linda

Although summer has just started, the flowers are looking pitiful already; we've had no rain in a while. The humidity is bad here during June, then the real heat sets in for July and August. So, I enjoy seeing your beautiful pictures of the flowers.

Summer colds are terrible! Take care.

Your jacuzzi looks so pretty and relaxing with the roses and shells and statues arranged all around it. I'm so glad you're feeling better!

I wondered about you! Glad to hear you are "on the mend". I can imagine the heat and humidity DO make you anxious for autumn...it's been really hot and humid up here, too, the last couple of days (and no relief tomorrow).

Your blooms are pretty as usual - and that jacuzzi looks positively refreshing. Enjoy the rest of the evening. ♥

I'm not a fan of our summers either here in the tropics. They are horrid and it's almost impossible to get out and enjoy the garden.

Right now we're experiencing our very pleasant winter, and I'm out strolling around every spare minute I can get.

That jacuzzi looks so inviting. I can imagine just how relaxing and refreshing it would be.

Love your gorgeous collection of Sunflowers, and those hairy mushrooms sure did catch my eye!

I have had sinus and a allergies too. Think it is from all the dust I am kicking up around here. Your dinner and wine sounds wonderful. Wish I could join you. Love the flower photos - you do take the best. Thinking of you and sending love. Barbara

Lovely blooms. Your sunflowers always look so pretty. Glad you are starting to feel a little better. I can imagine how the heat and pollen down there must take it's toll on people.

What a lovely way to have spent the day. I would love a jacuzzi, especially outside, it must be lovely to relax in on a hot and sweaty day. Enjoy the meal Lorraine.....and the chardonnay!

I'm thinking the jacuzzi and wine make a perfect combination! :-)

So the jacuzzi just heats from the sun? Amazing. Our well water is pretty cold and would have to set out in the sun a long time to get that warm. It does look very inviting.

Beans sound good. I need to put a pot on tomorrow. I hulled a lot of Ky. Wonder pole beans a few years ago; I wonder if they are viable. I will give them a try tomorrow.

Take it easy in this heat. I know your humidity is much higher than ours...so be careful.

I can't imagine what the heat and humidity must be like in your area.I think it is bad enough where I live,as I don't like heat very much.Your flowers are as pretty as ever.

Love the pics of the sunflowers and the cool mushrooms.

Do you have any/many bees visiting your sunflowers and other blooms? I didn't notice any in the photos. It's interesting to hear from other gardeners about the prevalence of pollinators. This year, we're fortunate to have lots of bees (perhaps because of bee-friendly plants specifically added to the garden for this purpose) but there have sadly been few butterflies visitors so far...
