Warm weather and photos for Etsy

Good afternoon Folks,

It is a sunny Sunday afternoon, 75 right now. I was puttering in my gardens this morning, and ended up ‘sweating’, in January.  It is just beautiful out though. This is why all the northerners come down this time of year.

I have to tell you I would much rather take pictures of flowers and butterflies than take pictures of my pieces to put on Etsy.  I’m having a hard time with the colors coming out right.  I know too that everyone’s monitors will show different colors.  I’m a point and shoot lady, and tried my hand at manual and apertures etc. today, because I wasn’t happy with the colors with point and shoot. They were a little better with the manual setting, but I’ve got much to learn. Sheesh!  If any of you photographers out there have any tips, I need help. Pretty please and thank you.

Below are pictures of three crocheted needlebooks I made.

The first one is ecru, that wasn’t too hard to get. Embellished with a mocha colored crocheted and beaded flower and an antique mother of pearl button.

This is a sage green with a grassy green on the inside, very hard to get. I had to do some color tweaking when editing. Embellished with a creamy crocheted and beaded flower and an antique button.

This one was the hardest.  It is a deep burgundy color thread, black interior. Embellished with an ecru crocheted and beaded flower and an antique mother of pearl button.

You have to have decent photographs to show your pieces so I’ve more learning to do.

Now after that flustering photo session, I went out to take pictures of  blooms.

Here is DH’s work on the caravan floor.  He has finished painting the ‘faux’ tiles, two coats, now he’s ready to paint on two or three coats of polyurethane. He wanted to get the floor done before he brings in and sets up the refrigerator, stove and sink. Then he can make the counter for those things. There’s still quite a bit of work to do, and every step done brings us that much closer to completion. He used that cushion to kneel on while he painted.

That’s it for now.  I’ve got to get pizza dough going in the bread machine and get the Italian sausage and sauce cooked and simmering.  Kale will be added to the sauce again.  We enjoyed that when I tried it before.

Hope you all have a great week. May we all remember to be thankful for our many blessings. May we learn from mistakes, and keep on growing graciously.

Very, very pretty! Your photographs tell me you are a much better photographer than just point and click! Love your faux floor can't wait for a tour of the finished caravan.

I love your needlebooks, FlowerLady, the soft colors especially appeal to me. Thank you for pictures of lovely roses, mine are all pruned and sleeping... About colors in photos, you can do a lot with software after you have taken the picture. Maybe adjusting white balance would work if you have the means of doing it.

The needle cases photographed well and they're beautiful. the ecru is my fav, if I had to choose.

It's so much a pleasure to watch the progress in the caravan.

Well your needlecase shots look terrific to me. The colours look fabulous but then I suppose you would know if there's a difference between the reality and the photo.

The floor looks brilliant. We had a similar faux tile look on our back patio in our last house and it always looked so good. DH has done a great job.

Loved your photos of Kathleen and Mm. Laurette. They are the sort of Roses I love.

That floor is awesome! What a great job! I can't wait to see it all when it is complete. You did a good job capturing the colors on your needlebooks. They are precious and I can just imagine them given with love to special people who sew. They would treasure these forever! You are most talented. Happy New Year to you!

Your needlework is beautiful. I'm impressed. I need one of those too. Did he paint the floor? Pizza sounds good.

So cute! I love your crochet work.

My daughter recently bought "Digital Photography For Dummies." It was written for me. :)

I can almost smell those roses. Love them. And that faux brick looks real! Very well done. Kudos to hubby.

Thank you again for your sweet comments on my blog. You're a great friend. Hugs.

His floor looks fantastic! I bet it was harder to lay out than setting tile too, wasn't it?

What a wonderful post! I love your needle cases...if I was more of a sewer I'd have to have one for myself. I can't believe your beautiful flowers at this time of year...you're right...that's why 'snow birds' go to Florida in the winter. LOVE that 'tile' floor your hubby painted in the caravan...what a patient fellow! Can't wait to see the whole thing when it's all done. Hope you have a wonderful week.

The new floor is so pretty...what a good job he does.
I envy your flowers at this time of year. We are having a warmer winter, but not as warm as you.
Have a beautiful day.

Oh how I love those needlebooks, they are gorgeous :)

Not a photographer, but the higher your ISO the brighter and more grainier your photos will look, the lower the ISO the darker. I keep mine around 200 and sometimes push it up a little higher inside the house if there's not much light.

Aperture is the amount of light your lens lets in, the smaller your F/ numbers the more light it will let in. Aperture will also give you those great depth of field images where the object your shooting is nice and sharp and the background is blurry.

Here is a great link for beginners, hope it helps :)

It is hard to get the true color of some things in pictures - your roses are gorgeous!

DH of yours did a fantastic job on that floor. It looks great and will be neat to have an all new floor to move furniture into to and arrange things on.
