First of all, I want to thank all of you who visit and especially those who have left comments. I do pass along your kind words to DH about his work and we both thank you for them.
Sandra ~ Thanks for the link for beginner photographers. I haven’t checked it out yet, but I will when I have more time.
We have a garden project going on that I am NOT going to show because the before is so AWFUL right now. It’s my potting area and since that pit bull who lives behind us is so aggressive when we are back there, I don’t hang out there any more. The owners are better about calling him away from the fence, but when he first throws himself snarling and barking at the fence, the adrenaline flows and I get totally freaked out. Anyway, we’re going to be blocking off this area further away from the fence with more privacy fencing, and creating a new entry so that I don’t have to go in and out by the back path. I’ll show before and after pictures later when the project is done.
After procrastinating, I finally did my sample of the first and second stitches for TAST. Here is a link to my sample with info about stitches.

We used to be able to buy books with how-tos on all sorts of interesting embroidery stitches. Working on a crazy quilt pillow so I've become quite acquainted with many of them. Pit Bulls are scary! Hope that's a very sturdy fence between you!
As the owner of two pit bulls and one pit mix. . . let me just say shame on that homeowner who would allow his or her dog to act in such a way that you would be freaked out - or even worse have to make special arrangements in your own yard. I know they, or really all big dogs, can be quite scary.
On a happier note, your "stitches" are just beautiful!

How wonderful to still have roses blooming in January! I first thought that maybe blocking the pit bull's view would keep him from barking, but I suppose he could still hear. What a horrible situation!
As always your handwork and flowers are beautiful. I am so accusomed to being far from everyone that I could not handle the dogs very well....
Trying to recall if I've ever met a pitbull. I was bitten once by a german shepherd mix and didn't enjoy the experience. I do wonder if dogs that are mean are born that way--or allowed/taught to be vicious.
Still beautiful blooms for you. How nice to be able to enjoy those right now. It's irritating about the dog though. Some people are so lazy about their animals and not caring how they act with the neighbors. Very irritating for others.

Pit bulls scare me to death! There used to be one in our area and I would be working and look up and there he would be watching me.
He was never aggressive, but I was worried anyway. I don't see him anymore.
I would stay far away from that area of the yard!
The stitches are just amazing and so are the roses.
That needlepoint is GORGEOUS!!! :) I love it.
And I look forward to the before and after project, but I wish you didn't have to modify your own yard simply because the dog's owner doesn't control it. Geesh. I hope you and your husband are happy with the way your yard turns out. You guys do such nice work, I'm sure it will be wonderful. xoxo♥

Hope you are having a good week. Your flowers always brighten my day. It has been very warm here and we have some flowers trying to bloom, but a cold front just came through last night. Great start on your tast project! I'm trying to incorporate all the Tues of each month into one block per month - we'll see how that works. Your flowers are lovely - so nice to see when I'm sitting here in 30 below weather! Yikes!
Shame on the pitbull for scaring you! Looks like you have many projects lined up already for this year. I admire your patience with all the hand work... And your flowers are soft and pretty.
I too share a fence with barking dogs. It can be very frustrating to be in a calm gardening mood and be interrupted by incessant barking.

I'm sorry a dog is limiting your enjoyment of your outdoor space. I sometimes have to leave my garden across the street due to their next door neighbor dogs barking and trying to get through a space in the fence. I need to get Larry to help me get that more secure. The dogs have actually gotten through there. They are a large and a miniature doberman. Well, I better get to bed.
