A drippy, gray, Saturday morning

Hello Friends,

I do hope you are all winding up shopping and are able to relax and reflect somewhat on Christmas. We can get so stressed out on things we ‘think’ need doing, that we forget to stop and enjoy the small things, forget to be thankful for our many blessings.

It is gray and drippy here this morning. A ‘mini’ cool front is moving down but it isn’t going to give us chilly weather, just cooler weather. Right now it is 70 at 7:40 a.m.  Christmas day it is predicted to be around 80. We like the holiday better when there is a chill in the air, but we don’t always get what we want.

Here are some pics to brighten the day hopefully, of those who now have barren and sleeping gardens.

The first three are of the red hibiscus, very tropical.

Next we have dear sweet Maggie, a found rose that could be a Bourbon rose.

Latest caravan work for those of you who have asked recently. Now that the mud work is done, DH has started on the floor, painting the first coat on yesterday. There will be another coat of under color for grout, and then he’s going to paint on hexagonal shapes in terra cotta color and then a couple of coats of polyurethane for protection.  I went in there the other day, sitting on a little step ladder, just enjoying the work that DH has done, and envisioning how it will look when finished.  From trash to a treasure that is for sure.  A little 6’x8’ space filled with light.

I took the next two pictures yesterday morning. One looking into my little space, and you can see the little Christmas tree in the living room too and the other picture looking out onto the patio from my little space.

Well, I better get a move on.  I’ll be heading off to work again today, looking forward to puttering around here starting tomorrow.  Don’t know yet what I’ll be working this next week, but I think I’ll take a break from blogging to relax and reflect in the holiday.

May you all have a lovely Christmas and a love and peace filled 2012. May you have good health, may your needs be met on a daily basis. Let us be thankful for our many blessings, no matter the size.

Love and hugs ~ FlowerLady

Beautiful blooms. I can't believe you can grow those Poinsettias in the ground. They look beautiful there. The caravan is really coming along well also.

Thanks Cher ~ The poinsettias I have are growing in the pots they came in last year. Two are from my boss, two I rescued from the trash of another shop. I kept them in shady areas and watered them all year. I need to cut them back next year, I think around September so that they will bush out more, because mine are kind of scraggly.

A very Merry Christmas my dear friend.
May the coming year bring blessings to you and DH.
Love the garden, it sure gets me through the drab colors we have here.
Hugs.

Thank you for the peeks into your spaces. I should crochet, too. Have thread, needle and directions, lack motivation. Your hearts are lovely.

Merry Christmas back to you. Thanks for sharing those lovely pictures of your flowers as nothing is in bloom here anymore. Loads of barren limbs and lots of dead leaves in my yard waiting for yard man to come. I can really tell some work has been done on the caravan. It's really coming along. Its wonderful you have good weather to be able to continue the work. We're turning a little chilly this evening. Wherever you go, whatever you do, have a fantastic Christmas. Debi

I SO needed the shots of color. All of them, so cheerful.

And I have my husband following YOUR husband's work on the caravan. We enjoy projects like this.

Merry Christmas to you! I wish the same New Year's wishes for you and yours.

Beautiful photos of blooms, as always.
Enjoy your 'time out' for the holidays!

FlowerLady, your tropical flowers are always gorgeous! I love the first photo of the red hibiscus flower with your blue bottle tree in the background. Such a great color combination in that photo. To me it is amazing that poinsettias "just" grow outside for you. I feel here in SoCa it is hard to even get them to survive through the holidays indoors ;-). In case you do take a complete break from blogging, I am wishing you and your husband a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year 2012!

Gorgeous blooms! We did have a cold front come through, not enough for a hard freeze, but enough to cover the plants and to bring the dog in! Your creations are inspiring - I need to get busy! I hope you have a wonderful week,
Kathy

You are going to really enjoy that new space you are both creating. That ceiling looks perfect.

I love your special crafting space both inside and the view out.

Enjoy the week and I hope you and your husband have a perfect time together over the holidays. It seems this is a particularly good year to really count our blessings!

I am so glad you are able to find time to relax around the holidays - they do tend to get stressful sometimes... I love your hibiscus pictures very much, and your little space looks cozy, comfortable and warm.

is it wonderful to have such a husband? He can do anything, it seems! Your little gypsy caravan is looking so good! How far it has come. You have the best view out that little window. I am jealous...

I love your sentiment-may all your needs be met.

Truly, we need no more than that.
Merry Christmas, FlowerLady.

Well I guess there is a price to pay for all that lovely sunshine. The pointsettas must really do well down there. I agree with your post. I've been trying to do that this year and it's been nice. I've spent time with my gd's and relaxed.

Thank you so much for sharing the flowers as we all know my gardens are in a deep sleep! I loved the Hibiscus so I googled. It seems there is a hardy variety that will grow to zone 5...even zone 4 with a lot of work. I'm zone 2. I wonder if I can do it? (I think my biggest issue would be the moose!).
