Spring Blooms and A Lovely Crocheted PIece

Good evening Friends,

Here it is Friday night and pretty soon I'll be heading off to get horizontal and read again before sleep. Thank you all for your 'feel better' wishes. I feel better during the days than I do at night, but I am feeling better with each passing day.

Some of the blooms below were taken on my bday, and the others were taken this morning.

Amaryllis ~ I really like the patterns in this one.

One of my favorite vines, the blue pea vine.

This has been one of my favorite 'blues' for many, many years.

I got it at a local flea market, way back when.

Blue Sage.

The next few pictures are of Cape Hoenysuckle, in two colors.

Firecracker plant.

Golden Dewdrop.

Louis Philippe rose before it fully opens.

Old Blush.

Vanda orchids.

Bon Silene roses.

Cocktail roses.

Golden Sun roses in the next few pictures.

Here is a jasmine that I look forward to blooming every spring.

Confederate Jasmine has a wonderfully sweet scent and frilly little blooms.

Frangipani blooms.

Hamelia Paten ~ A favorite of butterflies and hummingbirds.

La Marne Roses.

Louis Philippe roses.

Old Blush next couple of photos.

Love, a wonderful rose with white on the back side of petals.

Pandora Vine.

I am so thrilled to see my Queen Crepe bursting out in new growth.

Shed Garden.

This is my 'PRIZE' for today. Someone came into my workplace today selling a couple of items. I asked how much for this piece when I spied it, and got it for $10. I had some bday $, and this was a perfect thing to buy with it. I know the work that went into this, and also know that it took lots of thread to make it. It is a double size, which is what our antique head and foot board size is. I just threw it onto the bed for a picture. I need to change the spread underneath.

That is a gorgeous crocheted piece and it looks terrific as a bedspread. A lovely buy!

You've certainly got a whole lot of beautiful blooms out in your garden right now. I recognise many of them as plants we grow here as well ... the Pea Vine, the Firecracker plant, the Dewdrop, the Queen Myrtle and the Honeysuckle. That peachy Honeysuckle is a stunner and I love the La Marne and Golden Sun roses.

So glad to hear you're starting to feel better ... hope you get a restful night's sleep.

So many beautiful flowers! I love the garden with St. Francis at the end of the path. The photo with him and the yellow rose is very nice.
I can't believe you got the bed spread for $10! It is pretty. My mom tried many times to teach me to crochet and I never got beyond the basics. I trimmed a couple of hankies and made a yarn stuffed beach ball pillow but nothing pretty. I have crocheted tablecloths that my mom made which I treasure the most. Plus, lots of little doilies and such. You did good with your birthday money.

Love the flowers. My Golden Dewdrop is just putting on new growth. They die back here from the cold.

What a deal on the tablecloth!

I was overwhelmed to see so many beautiful flowers in your post! Your Louis Phillip is gorgeous, as always (does he ever look bad?), Old Blush is delicate and pretty, and your Vanda orchids are amazing (sign of envy). Thanks for the treat!

Glad you are feeling better.

The color spread of the flowers is amazing. The tropicals seem to have some different colors than other plants.

My Old Blush is coming back after the severe pruning I had to do to eliminate a sapling tree. I am delighted.

That spread is a real bargain and so beautiful.
I have one made by my husband's grandmother but it needs some repairs which are beyond my skills. I think I have a tablecloth too.

Have a wonderful weekend.

What a great find in that bedspread. I love to keep old handwork pieces in use. Even if I don't know the person who made it, I like to think I am honoring them by appreciating their work.

Your garden is full and colorful in this warm spring weather. Love that yellow rose. Is it an antique? Nice to see your blue sage blooms. My plant was full of buds when it froze to the ground. It is coming back, but no more buds.

Wow, such an abundance of flowers blooming in your garden right now! I especially love all the tropical blooms that you are having. The color of the Blue Pea Vine looks amazing. The Shed Garden is so charming. Thanks for sharing all these garden treasures.
The crochet blanket is a piece of art. Lucky you that you got it. Wishing you much joy with it.

Ten dollars for the crocheted white thing on the bed??? You have got to be kidding me! You can't buy anything here for $10. I am in awe. I lived in MN for a couple months and I went to a couple flea markets and was shocked. There are so many cool "old" things you can get for so cheap. We don't have that here.

I wish I could just sit in your garden and soak in the smells and colors. It looks like a great place to leave ones worries.

How did I miss the crocheted bedspread?
I have one [twin size] put together by an elderly Mexican lady for me from medalions that were made by my grandmother--or perhaps my g-grandmother.

Hi FlowerLady,
I went back and found where I left off. I hope you continue to heal. I just love your gardens and assortment of blooms! I'm tickled that you got that beautiful bedspread. I can't remember which post it's in, but I also love that embroidery piece.
