First day of Spring and a Birthday

Tomorrow is the first day of Spring, it is also the birthday of a tiny baby girl who was born a month early. That baby girl will be 62 years young tomorrow and she is FlowerLady. She is thankful for being born on such a lovely day, and for the life she has been given.

I plan to putter around here with my DH having a quiet day tomorrow. In the plans, is a special dinner that I look forward to fixing as I love to cook. We do NOT like the hassle, nor the expense of going out to eat. We've been that way since newlyweds. To me there is a real joy in creating a wonderful meal from scratch.

I do hope all of you have a lovely first day of Spring. Spring is such a hopeful time of year, filled with newness and rebirth of our gardens. A time of joy of seeing the earth sprout with new growth and of scents of blossoms filling the air. Wonderful color replaces the bareness of the winter landscape for most of you. Even down here I see different things happening in my gardens that only happen at this time of year.

So, let's all enjoy the day and be thankful for blessings large and small.

Hugs ~ FlowerLady

Happy Birthday! I hope everything is just perfect for you both.

I agree completely about eating out and isn't it wonderful that our mates agree with us.

Joyce Kilmer! I haven't thought about her poetry in many years. We had to memorize 'Trees' in grade school. I still remember a lot of it.

Happy Birthday, FlowerLady! How wonderful to have a first-day-of-spring birthday! Your relaxing day with a home-cooked meal sounds wonderful. I might enjoy cooking more myself were I any good at it.... Your recipes and dinner photos are inspiring to me, and I have so many more years left to practice. ; )

We have something in common, I was born very early and at only 1 pound! My dad said that I looked like a baby drowned rat!LOL But I was blessed to live and be a pain in the rear to all...

How cool that your birthday is the first day of spring! God bless your day! I prefer cooking over eating out, too.

I wasn't born too early, but my mom had a nutritional deficiency I can't remember the name of, and they unsuccessfully tried to induce labor a little before I was due. I just did a search, and am thinking it was toxemia she called it, which is an outdated term, and it's now called preeclampsia. I ended up being a sick baby, and had pneumonia at around 5 months old. There was an evening my parents were called in because they thought I was going to die. Well, that's not cheerful birthday reading. I know you won't mind, though. God must have had plans for me to live.

Beautiful evidences of spring met us each mile as we traveled southward toward a North Carolina destination today. How marvelous this time of year!

Happy belated Birthday, Flowerlady! Sorry I have been busy working on a garden project and have not checked blog for a while. How lovely that you were born at the first day of the spring! The symbol of the life! Maybe that is also why you love gardening so much! A quiet birthday dinner with your loved one sounds so nice. I too love cooking whenever I can find more time.

Happy Birthday Flowerlady. Sorry I missed your day. A home cooked meal can't be beat and I mostly would rather cook than go out to eat.

About my bougainvillea - I don't plan to put it in the ground. I will leave it to live it's life in a container. According to what I've read it should live a long time or at least a couple of years in the container I bought it in. The plant looks like it is established well in the container. I will be bringing it into my utility room over winter. I am looking forward to being the caretaker of this beautiful plant.
