Plum Cottage Blooms & Orange Cumin Bread

Good morning ~
Hope you all are safe from cyclones, snow storms, etc. and that you have a lovely day or evening wherever you are.

I think of friends in the middle of the states who are being blasted by the snowstorms, and friends in Australia who have been blasted by that bad cyclone. I do hope to hear news from different ones as they are able to get on line to let us know how things are going in their part of the world.

Today there is sunshine and some clouds, a bit of a breeze, a perfectly gorgeous day here in s.e. FL.

When I went outside this morning the scent of roses filled the air. What a lovely way to start the day. Plus azaleas are adding their sweet scent as is the scent of the blooms of Basket Plant (Callisia fragrans). Tomorrow I hope to get outside to garden a bit, as I may not be working, I'm working again today and will be working again Fri and Sat. This is the great time of year for working in the gardens here in s.e. Fl, or doing any outdoor projects.

The first two pictures are of a loaf of Orange-Cumin Bread which I'll give the recipe to later. This was a delicious bread, and the texture of it wonderful.

This is a bud of a White Powder Puff shrub that is about 2 years old. I grew this from seed and this is my first bud.

Here we have sweet Smith's Parrish again. Someone mentioned her delicate blush which always a joy to behold.

Red hibiscus bloom not unfurled.

Mm. Laurette Messimy in the next two pictures. One in sunlight the other shaded.

Here is my shed again with Louis Philippe. The scent this morning was so wonderful. Old Blush is creeping across from the other end plus there is a bougainvillea with the same color of blooms, in the mix.

This is LaMarne.

Dainty Bess ~ What a sweetie she is. Her scent is sort of spicy like cloves. I just love her purple eye.

After the petals have fallen off.

Bon Silene the next couple of pictures.

I read that we are going to have an early spring, so I can just imagine the joy all of you up north are feeling right now. Enjoy planning your gardens for this year, then getting out to work in them.

Good morning. It is so good to see your flowers this morning. I wish I could smell the bread. LOL! Looks so yummy. We were lucky in our part of the state. Rained melting some of the ice and now the wind is fierce with some snow flurries. So I feel fortunate this morning compared to some friends near Chicago. I was wondering about the cyclone coming in near Bernie's in Queensland too. I hope everyone is safe. Enjoy your garden in your wonderful weather before it gets too warm.

I love your rose pictures, it is such a joy to see them in the middle of winter. I wish I could grow Dainty Bess too, but it suffers badly from powdery mildew here... The picture of the hibiscus bud with the blue background is stunning.

Our weather was mild today, although we are expecting colder temperatures again this weekend. I hope spring will be early this year. My yard is looking so barren. It is always refreshing to see all of your beautiful blooms at a time of year that doesn't offer much in the way of beauty around here. Carla

I'm planning a day in the garden tomorrow too. It has been perfect gardening weather. I do wish we would get a little of the scattered showeres predicted though. How's that rain barrel holding up for you? I have one full and one empty. Dainty Bess is beautiful with and without petals. I wish I had room for more roses, but sunny areas are at a premium around here.

I always welcome the sight of your flowers. I guess I just am going to have to leave this awful state and move south where flowers bloom for a much longer time. Your bread looked delicious.

The bread does look good and the texture is just perfect. I just love home-made bread of any kind.

I can almost smell the roses.....almost. I can hear a bird singing outside and it is dark and -9°. It must have lost its mind. They were singing yesterday too. Maybe they heard about the early spring!

Looks like you're already having an early spring. I love your roses and other bloomers. The bread looks delish. I hope you can get out and garden. It is always such good therapy, isn't it?

Can't tell you how much I enjoy your flower pictures, and the promise of what is to come here in a few short months.

I can smell and taste the bread from all the way up here. :-)

Love that Dainty Bess photo... so sweetly hanging and ruffled. Must be delightful to walk out to All the roses in your garden. You defy the odds growing them so successfully in south Florida.

That bread looks yummy and sounds yummy.I hope you've been able to get out and enjoy this weather. It has truly been spring-like. I have relatives out in OK and TX ennduring record-breaking snow ... not having fun trying to get to work. Worlds away from here with weather like that.
Have a wonderful day. Meems

How exciting to see pictures of roses blooming! You have so many pretty varieties. I've been noticing signs of new growth starting on my roses, soon it'll be time to prune them here.

How I long for the smell of roses, but your pictures are the next best thing. Your garden is so lovely, I feel so warmed after looking at it. And the bread, what an aroma, I can imagine it from here.

Hi Flowerlady...I never get tired of looking at your roses. I only wish I could take a whiff. Your L.P. is amazing. I've never seen one that tall. You are so lucky to still have hibiscus blooming. And, that bread! Yum!!! Your house must smell delicious. Have a great weekend!

Good morning my dear,

The bread looked mouthwateringly great, but the roses...I actually smelled them as I read the posting. Wonderful.

I adore Dainty Bess and had it growing (along with a few dozen others) all over a gazebo at my Heart's Ease Herb Shop.

Thank you for the words about my writing. You started my day beautifully.

Oh your bread looks soooo yummy! And I love how you said, the outside smelled like roses. I look forward to that in about 4 months. I was just thinking about my rosebush. I will gaze at your lovely bloosoms until mine are back with me. Hugs, Kit
