Today's post is about one of my very favorite flowering vines, Passion Flower. I've posted on this before, see here, but don't think you'll mind seeing more pictures.
I have two different kinds on our property, one is smaller, more simple and plain. I do not know the name of this one, which is shown below.
The other is beautiful. I believe it is 'Incense', and it has a wonderful scent. I have no idea where either of these came from, except maybe from birds. The butterflies love both vines.

Do you have to be careful where you plant it? I heard passion flower will just take over if you don't keep an eye on it.
They're such a busy design for a flower arent they? Like something you'd draw.
Wow! Those are so exotic looking. That Incense is incredible. Bet it fits right in with your tropical paradise!

I just love Passion flowers. They are like little pieces of modern art. I've never seen one like 'Incense' before.

Gorgeous! You are so lucky to have them just "show up!" I bought "Incense" this spring and it died on me. :-( I've heard they are invasive also but I still love them.

Beautiful. I planted a passion vine on my fence this year. I'm hoping it will survive the Georgia winter! I'm in zone 8 :)

Debbie ~ The passion vine does spread out over things and also grows more plants via underground. It is a piece of artwork, created by God.
Jane ~ I get excited every time these bloom. They are just so wonderful, and yes they fit right into our little tropical paradise.

WiseAcre ~ There are lots of things you grow up north that I wish I could grow.
Kathleen ~ I've had some that I've dug up and planted in pots croak on me, but left in the ground they are prolific.
LeSan ~ They do look like alien art, but that's what gives them their beauty, that and the colors.
Sue ~ I'm surprised that you can even grow this up north. Maybe you will get blooms next year. Do you bring it inside for the winter?

Hi Felicia ~ Thanks for visiting. Our posts happened at about the same time. It seems like from what I've read, that the passion vine should grow again after the die back of winter for you. I hope so.

I've never grown it before, so was thinking it would be an annual here. I wonder if I could take a cutting to keep inside for the winter in hopes it would bloom next year. The main reason I planted it, though, was for caterpillars to eat. I don't know if any did, though.

Sue ~ Did you try rooting a cutting yet? I see butterflies flying around ours all the times and sometimes even see the caterpillars.
