Good morning. I hope everyone is surviving the 'dog days of summer'.
In spite of heat and humidity, we're still surviving as are the gardens. I have worked outdoors 4 mornings this week. Yesterday I was pooped and sore from the other three mornings of work and could hardly get going so I only worked outside for 2 hours instead of the 3-4 of other mornings. There is still more to do, but I'm working at my job the next two days so will have a time of relaxation from the gardens.
I did take a couple of pictures of a lovely purple crepe myrtle ~ Lagerstroemia Indica, that bloomed for me this year. I've had this a long time, and it only blooms every now and then. The leaves of this tree are larger than the other crepes I have, except for the Queen Crepe. I was thrilled when I saw buds and then the open blooms.

You know I don't have a crepe of any sort but those flowers are sure making me think of getting one.Very pretty and I love the color.

I don't have a clue if we could grow that up here but that is a fascinating and beautiful bloom. I have heard of myrtle but never seen it in person. Persevere and keep inside more. It is too hot to be outside. Take care and have a good weekend.
I have been trying to send you an email but it won't send for some reason. I just wanted to let you know there's one in the hopper. You may end up with several copies all at once. LOL
I have always wanted a crepe myrtle and see several around in our area, so I know it's a possibility. Your pictures of the purple really tempt me. I love that color.
I hope the hurricanes don't make it to your area and just fizzle out over the ocean.
It's like our tornado season which now seems to be all year long.

Good morning everyone ~ Hope you are having lovely Sunday. I just came in a little while ago to the aroma of Parmesan/Pepper bread baking in my bread machine. Aaaahhh! While I was outside playing in the gardens the bread machine was doing its thing. Nice!
I did a Google search on crape myrtles and they are good in zones 6-10. I also read that they are crape, not crepe, as I have called them. Live and learn.
LeSan ~ I love the color of this one also. I have 3 different colors, 2 pinks and purple. I love them all.
Becca ~ The color is one of my favorites in the garden.
SweetBay ~ It is beautiful, do you have any in your gardens?
L.D. ~ I think you will just have to enjoy crapes via pictures. Just like I have to enjoy those wonderful bloomers you northern gardeners all enjoy.
Glenda ~ Do get a crape or two, you won't be disappointed. Mine even spread underground, I think, because I have babies that come up. I would not want to live in tornado country. Those storms totally freak me out.
LilSista ~ Yes, I do like the crinkly petals. That's a big part of the charm of them, plus they have a nice delicate scent.
