One of my favorite vines

Good afternoon Folks ~ I hope you are having a nice Sunday. It is very hot and humid here.  It is 3:30 p.m. est, 91 degrees and with the heat/humidity index feels like it is 102.  We were out this morning sweating buckets and it was absolutely miserable out.  Sheesh!  We will be so glad when summer is over, but for us that won’t be until sometime in October, if we are lucky.

While we were out working, a loaf of garlic/herb bread was baking in the bread machine.  It smelled so wonderful in here when we came in.  In a little while I’m going to get dough going in the machine for pizza tonight.  I’ve got to get the Italian sausage cooked and then make the sauce from scratch too.

When I came out here to my little space this morning, I noticed what looked like a book laying under my heart pattern pages.  I lifted the pages and this is what I saw underneath.

I was thrilled. DH got it at a yard sale he stopped at yesterday for 50 cents.  It is a wonderful book.

Now, on to the passion vine flowers.  I can’t quit taking pictures of these blooms.  They are so amazing, the colors wonderful and the scent is sweet.

The tendrils grasp onto anything and everything.  This particular vine is growing up one of my dwarf white bauhinia trees.

Mown, weedwacked & trimmed

Good evening Folks ~ We have had dinner, it is lightly sprinkling, and DH is out in his workshop.  He has been in his  computer quite a bit today in a CAD program drawing out the original back door lock mechanism to the ‘camper’ now stationary ‘gypsy wagon’ as we call it. He is making a door for the ‘front’ of the wagon and will be incorporating this lock into it.  He took drafting in jr. college and  enjoys doing things like this.  He drew up plans many years ago for his workshop, the barn and the storage building and he was given the go ahead to build and passed all of his inspections.

Yesterday morning after we ran our errands, I mowed and let me tell you it was miserable.  I was sweating buckets, drinking water, and decided to quit and not finish up the pruning I had started.  I did that this morning and weedwacked too.  It all looks nice now.  With all the rain we’ve been getting lately things have been growing like weeds.  We haven’t had rain for the past three days, but more is in the forecast for the next week or so.

Latest Needlework ~ Heart & Flowers

Well, I finally finished this latest piece a little while ago. I started it on the 22 June, 4 different days. It took approximately 8 hours. I try to keep track of my time while sitting here and write it in a little book.

I really enjoyed working on this, and for some reason it made me feel like crying. DH said it was pretty, maybe that’s it. The prettiness of it. I love hearts and I love flowers.

The flowers are all in the purple family.

They are Winter Iris, Petunias, Violets, Japanese Anemone, Penstemon and Periwinkles.

This will be for sale, I just don’t know yet if I will sell it as is, or try to find a frame for it. People may not like what I would frame it in. It can be matted and framed, sewn to a pillow or piece of clothing, depending on the person.

It is approximately 4 1/4” x 4 1/4” square.

The fabric the embroidery is on is more of a soft pale camel color not the gray that is shown here. I need to take a picture in better lighting.

Now I can think about what to do next. More of this crazy heart theme with flowers no doubt.

Have a wonderful holiday tomorrow. We did have some sunshine today. More rain is expected. We have had LOTS but I am NOT complaining.

Friday ~ 1st of July

Good morning everyone. Hope your weekend will be a great one whatever you do, wherever you are.

It is a gray, drippy morning. Thunder has been rumbling to the east of us. It is 81 and feels like it is 92. We’ve been having rain every day for about the past week. Sometimes we have thunderstorms with strong winds. Yesterday was one of those storms as I was driving home from work. I do NOT like driving in T-storms. It is always a relief to pull into our driveway, then to get indoors to our humble home sweet home. More of this weather is expected over the next couple of weeks. It is beginning to feel more like our old summertime weather pattern.

Thank you all for your comments about our funky summer project. I’ll keep you posted as to it’s progress.

This morning I went out with camera in hand to take some pictures and here are the results.

This was my one caladium that keeps coming up every year. I love these plants for their heart shaped leaves, and their many color formations.

Below is my newly opening Miss Muffet caladium from Meems. (Thank you Meems.) It has been fun waiting and watching these come up. Since they started out like this.

I planted three in the pot below so they will be growing with/under plumeria and firespike. (Thank you Darla for the firespike cuttings.) The other three are in another pot, just starting to unfurl.

In the next few pictures you will see the yellow dwarf poincianna blooming tree. I grew this from seed.

And speaking of love, I just finished watching the series, From Larkrise to Candleford and I loved this. It was filled with love, hardships, heartache, wisdom, morals, forgiveness, joy. I laughed and cried through the whole thing. The ending was great, although I wish they had shown Robert coming back home to Emma and his family. (He had gone off to find work to support his family.) Maybe they will make a follow-up.
