Good morning Folks ~ I know I’ve been missing for a bit, summer doldrums.
This will be short as I’ve got to get outside early to do a couple of things before a tree/hedge trimming crew get here. That palm tree that has been dropping fronds and spreading roots, will come down today. I called the local botanical gardens society and talked to the palm guy and Royal Palms aren’t worth anything now, unless you have a lot of them. No one wants them. I am tired of dealing with falling fronds, being startled as they hit the porch or house roof, won’t have to worry about them falling on me or other’s vehicles. When they fall green they are very heavy. I have to deal with getting them off the roof, and then cutting them up to manageable size to take out front to be picked up by the county. Enough already. I’m not getting any younger.
Driveway looking south. I won’t miss this look or the falling fronds.
Looking north
I have been praying about dealing with the overhanging tree limbs from neighbor’s property, my own trees that need trimming and the hedge out front that needs the jasmine at both corners and some shrubs cut way down to a manageable height for me to deal with. I have been trimming what I can, as high as I can. Friends that give me a ride to Bible Study each week have a lawn/tree maintenance man who they deal with, do trade with, etc. and at no charge to me, that man and his crew are coming here this morning. What an answer to prayer. I’m nervous and excited at the same time. And oh so thankful. God hears are hearts cries.
So, later today I hope to take pictures of the new look. I will lose some shade, but at least it’s nearing the end of August.
Other bits and pieces of life later. I’ve got to eat and head on outside.

Hang in there, Lorraine! Let your neighbors help you when you can. That's what life is about. You can do something for them too. :)
At some point, we look around our garden and realize there are a few changes that will make life easier. I suspect this is one that will make yours a bit more simple.
xx, Carol
Such a tremendous answer to your prayers!! Yes, God certainly hears our cries and HE IS FAITHFUL!!
You are wise to remove that palm tree now in this toti of your life. You will find it to be a much easier life and worry.
Your place is beautiful, like a sanctuary, though I'm sure quite the work load for you.
My prayers will be with you and your help today.
Much Love~
That's going to make such a difference for you, Lorraine!! Hope all goes smoothly with the removal!
I do hope that all that trimming and cutting will make your life somewhat easier.Yes,we need to make adjustments as the years add up.
Down here, we too have friends who come and help. Home baking is always there for them to take home, and they are so thankful. I guess when we were all a lot younger, we helped in a similar way. The Palm, you will not miss that work at all, and what a wonderful gift those men bring, this is how life should be.XXX from a wet and cold morning down here.
It is a huge tree and I can see that it is just to close to the house. My brother in Arizona never planted palms in his yard as he could see everyone that had them had a mess all of the time. You are right for taking it down as it is dangerous for your house. You do have a lot of other things that will be just as wonderful to see.
I am so happy for you! My friend and I were just talking about the palm trees we have known in northern California and how rare it is that they don't end up being a blight on the landscape. I realize that Florida is where they are more likely to look good, but then they are likely to be really healthy and take over!
I have often felt this conflict in my heart regarding trees - it seems sad and unnatural to cut them down, and of course it is costly to have them dealt with professionally. But we want to live in a garden and not a jungle, so our garden must be tended. Pruning is very biblical ;-)
You are wise to reduce your work load, which is really quite adequate without giant palm fronds falling on your space and demanding attention!
It's always a blessing to find people who are willing to help out. I like to think of them as earth angels.
Hate to see any tree go. A friend leaned to far trimming a neighbors and fell in their yard . I would chat your ideas to them
I look forward to seeing pictures of your new space, Lorraine. What a blessing that you have such good friends. P. x
I am so glad to hear you're having that palm tree taken down! I remember when you first posted about it and how scary that was to have those huge fronds falling on your roof. Also, what a blessing that you will be able to have the other trimming work done, especially at no cost. Tree trimming is so expensive!
Hello, dear FL!! Welcome back to your blog home :) It has been some kind of of a summer, hasn't it? I'm so glad you are getting good help, getting that tree down. It's so hard to keep up with the growing "verge" in summer. Our place has been out of control with all the rain, rain, rain. I'll be glad for fall.
Your tree trimming crew is an answered prayer and how nice it is connected to your Bible study friends.
Hello, good to see a post pop up from you! Wonderful answer to prayer about your trimming needs! God is good and it's good to be in fellowship with others who can help with God's prompting!
Pfft, it's quite a big tree and so near to your house. It will be a relief when it has removed. We just have to make adjustments in our garden as we are getting older. Next week my huge Taxus hedge will be trimmed by a gardener, some things we have to leave to others.
Hi there Lorraine, so glad to see you post again...I've been thinking about you and wondering how you are!! HOpe this went well today? It will make things much easier for you and that is a good thing. It's probably still brutal hot there, isn't it?--it sure is here! Still, I'm having a great summer, stay inside during the heat of the day and we venture out at evening.
Good Morning Lorraine. God does hear our prayers and I am so happy you have good friends that have help for you. You deserve to have help when you need it. Happy Friday.
Hugs,
Kris
God is so good to send help that is needed! I guess the work is finished by now? But lots of cleaning up still to deal with? Maybe seeing it gone is like what people feel like when an unwanted wall comes down in their house? That feeling of more space, more light? I hope you are pleased with it and it went smoothly. Maybe your plants will flourish even more now. Don't work too hard in all the cleanup!
Hi Lorraine,
Just this morning I was thinking of you. I realized that you hadn't posted in a while and I said a prayer that you were okay. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I am looking forward to your next post.
Terry
I can imagine how frustrating it is to have to deal with the neighbors overgrown shrubbery invading your space. Hope the trimming takes care of that for a while. You sure have the perfect growing conditions for all your beautiful plants.
Praise God for an answer to prayer! So happy for you!
