We survived!

Hi dear Friends ~ this will just be a quick note to let you know I arrived home this morning, took me about an hour to get here. Some traffic lights were out so I just had to watch and treat those intersections like a 4 way stop. I was so relieved to pull into my driveway.

Barn girls FINE! What a relief!  Some broken tree limbs barely brushing my cottage roof. They will stay there until help comes. Some fence damage, but not much. Lots of limbs and palm fronds and leaves all over. Everything got battered good. I’m so glad I didn’t stay here, I would have been freaking out.

An electric crew from Connecticut just hooked my power back up about 30 minutes or so ago. Bless their hearts. They were really nice. I don’t know how long PC was without power, possibly 48 hours maybe a little more. The fridge smells funky, so I need to clean that out.  I checked the chest freezer and things in there were still solid. I am thankful for that.

Ok, that’s it for now. Miss Tork and I are so glad to be back home. I am so thankful Plum Cottage and my barn girls survived the storm. It could have been so much worse. We weren’t able to see news about Naples and areas on the west coast of FL to see how they fared. It was really rough.

Thanks be to God for His protection for Plum Cottage.

Thank you all for your love, prayers and words of encouragement.

Time for some supper. Tomorrow will be more clean up of the property.

Love & hugs ~ FlowerLady

So glad that all is well and you are home, and there is minimal damage. I didn't know you'd gone elsewhere with your sweet kitty. I'm glad you did. What a relief that it is over!!

It was such a relief to open you blog and find today's post. You have been in my thoughts and prayers too as with all your followers. When I used to visit my sister in Sonoma Ca it was earthquakes that would keep me a wee bit nervous, well maybe quite a bit.... Pleased to hear you are safe and now you have the task of "clean up". I would be more than happy to help but I'm just a tad too far away.
Take care and slowly does it.
Love & hugs,
Gillian, Australia.

So thankful that you are safe and sound, and so is your house and your kitties. I know you'll have a lot of clean-up to do, but the most important thing was your safety.

Relieved to read this update from you. Our family in Jacksonville area are safe and well, though needing to clean up some flood damage. It would be good if this is the last serious hurricane for the season!

so glad to hear from you Lorraine! we are okay and so glad to hear you are as well and not too much damage to your pretty home! So glad YOU LEFT and were safe, and now SO GLAD YOU MADE IT HOME and can get back to normal. It was a bad bad storm, but so much worse for your state than here. Take it easy and slow with your clean up, don't hurry and don't hurt yourself!

I am so happy to hear that you are ok and that your home is too. We have been watching tv and see all the horrible destruction that the hurricane did.

What a relief for you. We do not get the kind of bad weather that you get over here in the uk and so I am not really up to speed with what it does, but listening to the radio got me thinking about the cows, stray cats etc who would have to ride it out and I was horrified to think what must happen to them. so glad your barn girls are okay.
God bless

So glad to hear you are safe and didn't get too much damage, I read your earlier post and wanted to say I love those cut out hearts in the plywood, its like your late husbands love is shining through to you. And the painting you did of the both of you is so beautiful. Well I have more to clean up outside those sticks and twigs just seem to pop up everywhere. Take it easy with your clean up.

What wonderful relief it must have been to return to your home and find it mostly intact! And thankful you did not lose anything in the refrigerator! What a blessing to have people from Connecticut come to plug up your electric, thank the Lord! Take it easy, cleanup will wait, sounds like nothing is urgent. It is a difficult time to go through. Keeping you in my prayers!
