Computer is working again, Garden book review & give away

Good morning Folks ~ My computer was fixed yesterday morning. YAY! I’ll write a personal post later. I have three book reviews to write and post, two will also be give-aways.

Being without a computer for 6 days was rough! Trying to do anything on a small tablet is rediculous in my opinion. I like my PC.

**********

Today’s book review is for the book “Garden Design – A Book of Ideas” by Heidi Howcroft & Marianne Majerus.

02-06-books3

This is a beautiful book, 311 pages filled with wonderful photos of gardens of all types to suit all personalities. Lots of great ideas to inspire you. A book you will want to look through at your leisure over and over again.

Some thoughts taken from the introduction:

“ Every garden, irrespective of whether it is a crate on top of a barge or parkland surrounding a country mansion, is a personal piece of paradise, tailor-made for the individual.

Some gardens are meticulously planned, while others just happen. There are no hard-and-fast rules for their design. It is all about personal taste, so who is to judge what is good or bad?

There is a garden out there to suit every one of us; it is merely waiting to be discovered.”

Below is the list of contents:

Basics
Question of Style
The Components
Greenery & Flowers
Furnishing the Garden
Difficult Plots & Tricks of the Trade

This book along with two others was sent to me by Firefly Books, for review, a give away and is/are mine to keep. Smile

For followers of my blog, leave a comment below to be entered into the give away, which will end Sunday, March 26th at midnight EST. I will do the drawing on Monday then post the winner.

The book will be sent via Firefly Books.

Next week I will post the other garden book.

Happy Spring to all ~ FlowerLady

That sure looks interesting! (But don't enter me again since I've already won the rose book - which by the way arrived late last week.

Glad your computer is back to work. It can be SO frustrating to be without (or even with one that has problems - like a broken screen).

I love the quote that you shared along with the book. This looks very interesting! I'm planning gardens in my mind all the time for our new house. :)

Oh yes, that garden book looks right up my alley! I'm glad your computer is fixed, I can't work on anything else either. I really admire people that can blog off their phone or tablet, but I'm not one of those people. LOL. It's too much technology for me. If my computer is broken, I take a break from the blog :-)

I hope you are having a great week FlowerLady!

So glad the computer is working again, a tablet is fine for travel, but I like my full keyboard. What a delightful cover on the book, looks so good, and what lovely words to say about any garden plan.Yes please.

Good Day!!
First, don't enter my name for the book. I no longer design, but maintain my gardens. I suspect it would be more useful to someone else.

I'm glad your computer is back. I hate using my tablet. And my laptop (Win 10) as well. I HATE apps!! We are expecting warmer weather soon. Who knows if it will last. Also rain will be visiting pretty often, but that's OK. Spring is here!
xx, CArol

Looks like a wonderful book! Glad you are back on-line. What did we do without computers? I was thinking of that the other day. And what did we do without cell-phones? I remember walking to phone booths whenever my car would break down......I had so many old cars over the years. Haha! I like the line 'some gardens just happen'. That would be mine :) Hope your weekend has some sweet blessings. Hugs xo Karen

I'm pleased your computer is working again - we do rely on them so much these days.

Looks like a lovely garden book, a beautiful one for you to keep (but please don't enter me in the giveaway - we have so many books already).

I like the comment that says "who is to judge what is good or bad", as my garden definitely "just happens"! This sounds like a beautiful book.
Thank you also for your kind comment on my blog. I'm sorry I can't reply back to you via email. Your words and prayers are much appreciated.
Enjoy your weekend ahead,

". . . a personal piece of paradise, tailor-made for the individual." I couldn't agree more. Looks like a beautiful book, Rainey. Please don't enter me in the giveaway, as I'm still trying to keep my book collection to a minimum. It's a lovely prize, though, and will be a blessing to the winner. xo
