Eye glasses and thrift store finds ;-)

Hi Folks ~ I want to thank all of you for your encouragement to get back the the optical center with my glasses.  Come to find out, the wrong # had been put into the computer than what was on the written prescription by the dr. They apologized, and I should have new glasses within the next couple of weeks. They are doing one pair at a time, so I still have my new sunglasses. Guess they want to make sure they get it right before doing these.

Yesterday I got a few groceries, then headed out to Good Will since it was Sr. Citizen’s day. I needed some colorful tops. I don’t always find any when I go there, but this time I found 5. AND one of them was a ‘Tommy Bahama’.  If you remember from a past post I mentioned how I’d seen new ones at Dillards and was shocked at the price of $118 each.

Here they are in photo below. The ‘TB’ shirt is second from the left in blues and creams with palms and hibiscus. These cost me $2.33 each.  The first shirt on the left was bought at Salvation Army, along with the ball of crochet thread, 49 cents, and the purse in mint conditon, Laura Scott, $5. I didn’t know the purse brand but looked it up when I got home and it’s around $40 online. I needed a larger one and this should be just fine.

Today after going to the optical center I stopped at the Salvation Army thrift again as it’s on my way home. I found a set of Woolrich 100% floral patterned cotton sheets, $11.  I saw a twin flat sheet for $20 online on Ebay. Also got a set of different floral patterned pillow cases, 99 cents each.

Here is the sheet pattern. This was hanging on the clothesline. The bed is now made up with fresh smelling new sheets and pillow cases. I’m ready to get horizontal to read before sleep.

As to butterfly gardening, I’m not just starting out.  We’ve had butterflies here for years, I’m just gathering potted butterfly plants into the ‘secret garden’, so that I can enjoy them all the more when looking out the window. I sure look forward to learning more from this young lady I mentioned in earlier post.

Summer is here. Hot and humid, we need rain. Hurricane season is to be more active so they say. UGH!  That’s not good news.

Yesterday my feet were killing me, and were hurting when I went to bed. They felt better when I got up this morning and weren’t bad all day, even now, they don’t feel too bad. Healing takes time and I’m thankful for good days.

Well, I'm behind on my visits; I'll have to scroll back and catch up with you. You got some good deals there; I especially love that purse. Isn't the price of clothing absolutely ridiculous??
A butterfly garden sounds so lovely! And I love the printed sheets; they seem so old-fashioned now (in a good way!). xo Deborah

I'm happy to hear that your glasses are being remade, I have progressives as well and for some reason this pair has not been great. I wish I would have taken them back but now I need to wait until January! You are a great shopper! TB for less than $3, that's awesome! I do hope you enjoy your early mornings in your garden and time with your butterflies! Blessings, Cindy xo

I'm glad you got things straightened out with your glasses, Rainey. I'm learning at this late age, that it does no good to suffer in silence. :) Love that purse. Isn't it fun to update your wardrobe for pennies?

Yes, healing DOES take time!
I'm glad you've found some "new" tops. The purse is quite sweet, too!
It's kind of a pain to have to go through the hoops to get your glasses corrected, but so glad you did! Seems so many mistakes made these days You kind of wonder what OTHER prescriptions are incorrectly transcribed?!?!

I love the idea of progressives but I have not liked the ones I've had. There's always an area in the "progression" that I cannot see well out of. So I used to get bifocals and would have the area for up-close that was on the bottom of the lens widened. It's commonly done and there's a name for it but I don't remember now what it's called. We have to drive to Owasso, almost in Tulsa, for reasonably priced prescription glasses. The opticians here in our town charge exorbitant amounts and make you wait a long time because they send them off. In Owasso, they make them while you go shop in town and for what we'd have to pay here, we can get an extra pair in Owasso. And merchants in Bartlesville wonder why people don't shop here. It's a no-brainer!

You got some great bargains at the thrift shops. I've never gone to Salvation Army and didn't even know they had a thrift shop till one of our friends mentioned he bought some things there. Gotta go check it out.

I can't remember if you said, but when my husband had that the doctor gave him some exercises to do for his feet.

I'm so glad your glasses are getting done properly. I know a friend here, when they sent the prescription away to get the lenses made, somehow the left and right eye were swapped, They did fix them at no cost. Op shops, a wonderful array of goodies to be found, well done for your bag and tops.

You got some great items at the thrift shop! I am so impressed. I never find anything that great when I pop into the shop. I did find a cute stool this week and I already gave it a makeover, but it's no designer stool that's for sure! :)

Well, it was your turn this week for me to accidently delete your comment, Rainey! The cursor on this laptop is so touchy! I just want to say thank you, I'm just trying to catch up to my favorite flower lady (and you know who that is wink! wink!)

Hope you are having a lovely day!

Nice finds! Fresh sheets are so sweet smelling. I look for that crochet thread at thrift stores too. There's often a spool - I guess people don't know what to do with it when they buy it? But I use it as the warp on my loom, and it works so well.
