Beginning of November

Hi Folks ~ While most of you are starting to feel a drop in the temperature and enjoying lovely fall weather, it is hot and humid here.  Someone said record breaking temps for this time of year, mid 80’s feeling like high 80’s to low 90’s.  We need rain, what I don’t hand water  or is not under the sprinkler, is parched, brown and dry. Rain keeps being predicted, but goes all around us.

It’s hard to believe the holidays are almost here. This past Tues. my little group of ladies from Bons Amis ~ Good Friends, had our Thanksgiving potluck luncheon/meeting.  There were 13 of us and it was fun and good food had by all.

Next month we are having a Christmas tea. We will dress up and bring our own tea cup and saucers and teas and will bring finger foods.

Yesterday I gathered collectibles up from around the house and the storage building out back. Cleaned them up, started pricing items. Today I set up with other people for an indoor flea market happening tomorrow and Sunday. I was out of my comfort zone as I did not know anyone there, so just had to wing it, say hello and be friendly. I had a sale from one of the dealers, which paid my entry fee, then I turned around and spent half of it. Smile

I spied these ‘FlowerLady’ sheets laying on a table. Had to wait for the lady to come back to find out the size and price.  I did think they looked like a full size and they were.  I got a fitted, top and two pillow cases for $10. Waverly, 100% Cotton, 200 thread count.  I checked them out online when I got home and the pattern is Fontanelle floral. I found a pair of king pillow cases in this pattern that went for $39.99 on Ebay.  I am pleased with these. Have been wanting floral sheets and just haven’t come across any until now. This was my kind of price that is for sure. I washed them and they are hanging out on the lines now. They look almost new so I am a happy camper.  I loved the pintuck trim too.

Then I found three vintage pieces of needlework to use in some creations of mine.

Aren’t they pretty. The hours that went into making the edgings in the top and bottom photos is mind boggling.

The middle one I’m keeping for myself because of the heart edging.

I love finding treasures. I’m sure I’ll see some and maybe buy some more tomorrow before the show opens.  I’ll have to take a photo of my set-up. Since this is a flea market, I’m not sure how collectibles will sell for the prices I’m asking.  But, people can always get a better price if they are nice.

I’m getting hungry, so it’s about time to fix some supper.

Here are some flowers to close this post out.

Here are a couple photos of Miss Rosie. She follows me everywhere, leaping here and there on leaves, etc. Running to and fro. She has a sweet little meow and she smells sweet too. You can faintly see her tabby stripes in her tail and on her legs.

I am thankful to God for His many blessings in my life.

Have a great weekend ~ FlowerLady

Miss Rosie, a real sweetie, and have you though of printing cards from your beautiful flower photos? I am sure they would be winners at any place where you can sell them, even on Etsy. Hugs as you prepare for another Flea Market Day.

Well, you found some lovely pieces of needlework. I hope you have a successful day tomorrow, buying or selling.
Miss Rosie looks quite content, and seems to be filling out. No telling what you've saved her from, by letting her stay with you.
Happy Weekend!

Hi Lorraine, looks like such a fun time at your Thanksgiving luncheon. The food looks so delicious. Love the Waverly sheet on the line. So pretty. I have this pattern in a quilt with red and I like to use it for Christmas. You really got a great deal.
Miss Rosie looks like she is feeling right at home. What a little blessing she is.
Love your beautiful flower photos. The hand worked pieces are gorgeous. My grandmother used to create treasures like this and I have many of them that I treasure. They will be wonderful in your designs.
Have a nice weekend. xo

Wonderful finds at the pre-sale. I'm a sucker for handmade doilies and such, I know how much goes into them and can't bear to see them possibly go to ruin, so I HAVE TO jump in and save them, lol.

I like your floral sheets. They are hard to find, I finally found a set after a long search. The meal with friends looks like fun, and a Christmas tea to look forward to. I can see why you are keeping the white hand work with the hearts on the edges.

Good morning Lorraine,

It's blowing a gale here, and raining hard as well, and so work is postponed until later today. I know what you mean about the sweet smell that Rosie has, Hobie smells like that too. Misty always used to smell like an old hamster cage that hadn't been cleaned, bless her.

It looks like you and the ladies had a really nice time. It's been beautiful here in IL, a little warmer than usual, high low 70's, and we have been enjoying it so. You found some great items and love the floral sheets.

I hope you do well at the sale, it looks like you scored a real bargain with those sheets and I love the needlework pieces. Our weather has been quite war, almost 80 the last two days, so my flowers are still blooming and I have been able to putter around in the garden a bit. My hibiscus continues to put out blooms. Your Miss Rosie looks quite content, enjoy your weekend.

Your gathering & group of friends looks so relaxed. What a great number for getting to know each other over a period of time. The flea market sounds like fun. I admire you for getting out of your "comfort zone". I can see why you fell for those sheets! They are so pretty.

We're going to play cards this evening with friends. (Just wish we could have arranged it to start before 7:00! I think I'll take a nap this afternoon so I don't begin yawning at 8:30!

I love your new sheets and lace trimmings! Flea markets are so much fun. I went to one today and found a statue for my garden--an old bunny with a nice patina. I also found an old pine straw basket.

Your new kitten friend is the cutest ever!

I'm so happy you have the nice group of ladies, and the meal looks wonderful. I hope you had a good time. The sheets are lovely, just beautiful. I love the delicate crochet pieces, too. That little Miss Rosie, she is the spitting image of our old, dear Screech. Such a love bug he was, too. I hope you get some much needed rain and that the temps cool off soon. Hugs to my dear, sweet Rainey.

You found some really pretty items. The floral sheets are so pretty and the lace pieces are lovely.

Rosie kitty is looking so healthy. What beautiful shiny, sleek fur she/he has. Rosie's little face and body are starting to get a little rounder and more filled out, looking like a very healthy kitty.

What a darling little cat. Of course we take them in although we sigh--because we don't NEED yet another cat!
Your linens are so pretty--older cotton sheets have such a nice smooth weave.
