Miss Rosie, new faucet

Hello Folks ~ Thank you all for your kind thoughts about my water woes. My dear BIL Todd will be here Sat. morning to work on installing a new faucet, working on the leak under the house, and doing body work on my van roof, as last week we saw ‘why’ water had come into my van during a heavy rain I was driving in. A hole in my roof and one about to happen.  So, he’ll do some grinding, and bondo work on the places.  Bless his heart.  He’s like my dear husband in that he can do so many different things, and I am very thankful for all of his help since losing my DH almost three years ago, (9th of Dec. 2012).

I’ve got containers filled with water for filling sink and basin for washing dishes, for sponge baths and for flushing the toilet.  I am camping out this week and hopefully the leak will be fixable by Todd and we won’t have to call in a plumber.  Keep him in your prayers Sat. as he does all of this work for me. He lives a little over an hour away and works full time, so I really appreciate his time and efforts.

I’ve been researching kitchen faucets, was getting frustrated looking and reading about them. Finally found one online that was in stock at my local HD.  I wanted a high arc, 360 degree turn of faucet, a metal body and ceramic valves. They had some online but not in the store, they could be shipped to store, but it might not get here until after Todd would be here.  I kept looking and found a Pfitzer that they had three of in my store.  I went there this morning with my printed out paper in hand, found it, but really hated the idea of spending $98.  As I was standing there looking at the faucets on the wall, I spied one in the same pattern by the same company, and it was $78, in chrome finish, instead of stainless steel finish.  They didn’t even have the cheaper version listed on the website at all.  Needless to say, I bought the $78 one.  I went through the garden dept. on the way out, was tempted, but not enough to buy something I don’t really NEED.  Here’s my new faucet in the box.  I’ll show it installed later.

I’m trying to learn how to use my smart phone camera, how to text, etc. I feel like such a dunce.  Miss Rosie and I have been visiting in the screened porch off the kitchen and today I decided to take some selfies so you can see how cute she is.  She really is a dear.

She is such a sweetie pie. She and I are bonding. I slouch in the chair and she lounges on my chest while I pet her, rub her tummy, kiss her. Smile It’s hard to take selfies and I’m not crazy about them, but I am who I am and it’s Miss Rosie I am showcasing.

These next pics were taken with my Canon PowerShot A650 IS.

She heard me washing dishes, so got up on the covered trash can space just outside the window over sink. This is where Miss Tork hung out too.

Here is Miss Tork in June of 2008, she didn’t become an indoor kitty until after I lost my DH, so sometime in 2013 she moved inside where she keeps me company.  She’s been a real comfort to me.

Now here we have Miss Rosie on the last day of Nov. 2015

This cracks me up.  She was meowing but looks like a really mean Halloween Cat.

I just happened to catch her with her mouth open. Miss Tork did and Miss Rosie does, rub against the window.

Well, It’s about time for me to go get horizontal to read before sleep.

Tomorrow I’ll be trying my hand at washing my hair in a basin with a pitcher of water.  My hair is long so I’ll see how that goes.  One thing about experiences like this, having to do without, is that you appreciate so much more the everyday conveniences we have.  I look forward to hot showers once again. For now I’m sponge bathing while I camp out.

Goodnight and rest knowing God is watching over you while you sleep.

You have a pretty nice place to "camp out." I like the faucet. It looks good and should really be handy to have all that height. Your selfies are great. Very cute actually. You'll get the hand of the phone. It should have little emoticons you can use when you text too. Like hearts--I know you like those. Sleep well.

Lovely selfies. I have tried to take some, but always end up deleting them. I don't like pictures of myself. Hope your faucet woes get resolved soon.

I'm so sorry about your water woes, what a blessing to have someone who is willing to help. The Lord provides for our needs doesn't he. Your Kitties are sweet, they can be such nice companions. My son brought a dog with him when he came to visit last week, I had forgotten how comforting they can be. The dog he brought spent time snuggled up right along side of me, was sweet. I am still not good with "selfies" actually it's taken a longtime to figure my phone out. By the time I know how to really use it, I'll stop working..lol. Hope all goes well with your plumbing, blessings to you

Plumbing problems tend to be discouraging. How good that you have someone able to attempt the repairs!
What lovely cats for company!

Your cats are entertaining charmers, and I must say your screened porch is inviting.

I love your "selfies" ! Especially the first one of you and Rosie.

There have been quite a few times in my life when I did not have running water indoors and saving and using water was done with much thought for being conservative. I too remember it is a precious thing and do appreciate having water on hand at the turn of a tap.

Your BIl is such a kind man , a man your husband must surely have loved and trusted and known he'd be there when your husband could not for such emergencies. God is so good .

This month must be bittersweet for you. The month you lost your beloved husband, the month we as Christians celebrate the birth of our Saviour, the month so many share posts of being with family. It is good to know as Christians we have a vast family of brothers and sisters in Him.

Oh, Lorraine! I can't imagine living too many days with your water woes. So thankful the end is in sight for you :)

The photos are great! You'll love your smart phone. They are so handy. (Can't really remember much of life BEFORE! For SURE I didn't take nearly as many pictures!)

I am so sorry to hear about your water woes. I know how awful it is to be without water - we've had problems in our house over the years, too. Same with the electricity. You sure don't realize how much you rely on these wonderful things until you're without them. I'm sure it's much more frustrating to deal with these things when you're a widow, too. Thank God for your BIL coming to your rescue. Your kitties sure are cute. I'm such a cat lover, so I love seeing other people's kitty photos.

Rainey, I'm so sorry to hear about the water situation, this is just another thing you don't need. I'm also happy your BIL is helping you, what a blessing he is. I love your new faucet!

Rosie reminds me so much of my late, great Screech kitty; he had the same markings and was more like a dog than a cat. I'm so glad Rosie found you and you can tell she is, too!

Sending hugs to my dear friend. :-)

I have "belonged" to one cat or another nearly all my life, and I really think that cats of the same color carry the same traits. Yellow tiger cats are a little bit aggressive and sometimes obnoxious. Black cats are very loving. So are the black/gray stripe like Miss Tork, but they like to be next to you and not so much in your lap and they are less aggressive than the yellow stripe cat but moreso than the black cats. Sam, my Siamese, is very talkative and is so bonded to me that she has to be with me almost constantly. She is not a lap-sitter, though and doesn't like to be handled. She has little patience with belly-scratching but loves a good ear wiggle. She's not the hunter that my black cat was. His name was Midnight and he was constantly leaving little "gifts" of dead birds and mice on the front steps. And he was a lap sitter for sure.

So sorry to hear about your water woes, my dear. I do hope it is an 'easy' fix
and not something to call a plumber for. My daughter bought a 1910 cottage this summer and had almost the same situation. She is a single gal and so her Dad was called into service and was able to fix the leak. It's always something......isn't it? Your BIL is a sweetheart and I know you appreciate him so much. It's hard being a single gal. So nice to have those sweet little kitties to snuggle up with. So precious. They give so much love and ask for so little. I went a few years without modern conveniences while we were building our home here before we could afford to bring in electricity and drill a well. It's tough going without those modern conveniences and I have always been so grateful for them ever since. Every time I take a shower I say a grateful prayer of thanks! Hope all goes well - take care. Hugs xo Karen

Oh my gosh, I love all those selfies with Miss Rosie! So cute. I don't think she looks scary at all :-)

I feel you on the water woes. When the hubby and I were renting a couple of years ago, I sprung a big leak in the kitchen sink while he was at work. Water was shooting up and everywhere, and I was hysterical. I had to call the landlord to come help me. Water problems are the WORST!

Hope you are having a good week FlowerLady!

Hi Lorraine (do you go by Rainey?)....just checking on you to see if youre doing okay and did you get your hair washed and do you have water and all you need? Thinking of you and trying to encourage you til he gets there to help you out!

Rainey, the faucet is a good one and you'll enjoy using it. Those type weren't available when we renovated the house 20 years ago but every time one needs replacing, it's that kind I'm using. The curved, long neck makes life a tad easier.
Camping out at home...had to do it a while back as a part on the well went out. An inconvenience that hardly caused a ripple but I sure was glad when I had running water again...lol.
Merry Christmas and thinking/praying for you.

Hi Rainey. It sounds like you did a lot of research on faucets and found one that will work well, looks great and fits your budget. Perfect. I know what you mean about having a new appreciation for the things like plumbing when we have to do without for a time. I'll be praying for your BIL. God provides. Always! Hugs, Nancy
