Good morning Friends,
It is Friday, gray, warm and drippy here. We had some light rain earlier. I’ll be heading off to work later. DH is still healing up from his neck cramping earlier. This takes time. Keep us in your prayers.
Autumn is here but doesn’t feel like it or look like it down here in s.e. FL. No cooler temps yet either, something we are so looking forward to. I did mow the other day, and it rained afterwards. Yesterday I did some weed wacking. There is still much to do but I don’t have the energy or the inclination while it is still hot and humid.
I’ve been doing a lot of reading, fiction and non-fiction. I love going to the library to see what gems I can bring home with me. I’ve also found a couple of books at a local thrift store and a yard sale. From the thrift store, ‘Captured by Grace ~ No one is Beyond the Reach of a Loving God’. From the library two fiction by Debbie Macomber and three books on beading and embroidery. From our own personal library I took out this book this morning to see what I could find for my day and will post it here.
The excerpt is from a great little book ‘A Well-watered Garden ~ A Gardener’s Guide to Spirituality’ by Harriet Crosby, given to me by a friend many years ago.
This is under the section about Autumn.
“ Our gardens teach us that we are stewards, caretakers of God’s creation. We cannot make a flower bloom or a tree grow. We can only work to make the conditions right for growth. And sometimes we can’t even do that – sometimes the weather is too hot or too cold, too dry or too wet.
Our garden are gifts from God that teach us that all life, all growth is in his hands. Only God has the power to create and sustain life. All life seems more precious because of the care we lavish on our gardens. Taking care of them extends our appreciation for other living things. God made us stewards over his creation so that we could rejoice in it, admire it, and love it as much as God does. And we never take for granted a single bloom, a ripe tomato, or the red leaves of a maple tree.”
I hope you all have wonderful weekends. For those going through tough times whether it be physical, financial, emotional or spiritual, may you feel the love, peace and healing of God surrounding you and flowing through you.

Oh, that's a nice quote. I'm going to look for the book!
You can definitely tell that autumn is here also. The mornings have been cool or cold even. I'm actually glad it's here and my plants are getting some relief. Have a nice weekend.

sent your way..
Wonderful post Rainey! And beautiful roses. Wish I could send you some of our lovely cool weather.
I do hope your husband gets well soonest. Good thoughts coming your way. Beautiful roses.
Sounds like you're staying busy. I hope you enjoy your new reads and your cooler temps. Love your roses. Sending hugs, dear friend.
I've been thinking about your DH as mine has been really struggling with his back more so than usual.
Keeping you and yours in my prayers.

I wish I could send you a little of our coolness. The weather has been so crisp and energizing here....
Meanwhile, here's what I posted on my facebook page today. Perhaps it will encourage you & your dear husband as he deals with the neck issue, etc.-- I saw this posted elsewhere in another format & want to remember it myself AND pass it on..."When you are going through something hard and wonder where God is, remember the teacher is always quiet during a test. Trust in the Lord!!"
Of course, keeping prayer for DH until this miserable mess is over. It will be. Gardening is a great healer, whether on a plot of land, in a container or on a windowsill. Your healing words deserve the same in return. I love your varied “booklist.” Happy weekend.
Beautiful words and photo as usual, FL. Hope you and DH have a wonderful weekend. xxoo Nancy
I am sending you my best wishes for your husbands quick recovery.
I hope your cooler fall temperatures arrive soon. I can't work in the heat either.
Have a wonderful weekend.
I have a few roses blooming now too.
I've had a lovely day in my garden today, taking good care of my plants
Hi Lorraine, Such a lovely, heartfelt post with your generous thoughts and wishes. And the garden is truly the best metaphor for creativity and life. I think everyone needs to experience those everyday miracles and lessons of growth and flowering.
Wishing you a wonderful Sunday.

I love a good book in the fall. Time to catch up on some reading.
Hi Flower lady. My garden is also over grown, no veggie s or proper flowers. Hav e to get everything cleaned up
Nothing like a good book in the fall :)
I wish we had fall temperatures, I keep seeing all my friends talk about nice cool temps and we're still in the triple digits. Oh well....
Hope you have a fantastic week :)
I do feel like a steward as I plant and the rest is up to God's plan. The rain, the storms, the heat and the cold. You rose bush is beautiful.
What lovely quotes and sentiments Lorraine. I hope your husband is well soon. What you said in an earlier post about these things bringing you closer is very true.
We are also having a very warm Fall here but we are getting very little rain -it's been a hot and dry summer and I am with you in looking forward to the cooler temps. On the other hand, your gardens look stunning thanks to all your rain!
Your fall in FL is very subtle. Many of my husband's family live near Sarasota. Here in CO we are definitely into fall and even had some snow last week.
