Some crocheted sea creatures, etc.

Good morning Friends ~

Here it is Monday morning, for us, and the start of a new week.

It is hot and humid down here, but a lot of you are having hotter temperatures. I do hope you all are keeping as cool as possible, and do not work too long out in the heat.  Drink plenty of water.

DH is working on the neighbor’s roof, this is the third day now, but at least he’s been under the shade of a huge oak tree. It’s not as bad in the shade as it is in the sun. He drinks water all day long and that’s good.

Here are some crocheted sea creatures. I found the instructions through Mira’s blog here.

Susan the creator of these patterns can be found here, with instructions that she has freely given. She just wants people to not claim the directions as their own, giving her credit and you can sell the items you create.  She has really created some neat patterns.

I love working with fine thread, so that’s what I chose. These are made with size 30, except for the peachy colored conch and that is size 50.

These are tiny.

The peach conch is 1 3/4” long x 1 1/8” wide by 3/4” high.

The small conchs are 1” x 1” x 3/4” high.

Star fish, roughly 1 3/4” point to point.

Sand dollar 3/4” in diameter.

Angel fish 1 3/4” long by 1” wide.

Even though they are tiny, they take time, from around 25 minutes to almost an hour. I wear my stronger glasses working with this size thread.

I love how they turned out.

I do hope all of you that need rain will get some soon.  We’ve not had any since a week ago Sunday when we got that 4”-5”.  Everything is green and growing like crazy.  It will be time for me to get back outside in the mornings to get more done out in the gardens.

Here are some photos taken a week or so ago.

Hi Rainey, your little sea creatures are adorable. This hot weather makes me really appreciate all that you do in your garden. We haven't had any rain in about a month. The one silver lining is that we don't have to mow the grass!

FlowerLady - your sea creatures are just too cute. I can't imagine the patience you must have. I've watched my mom crochet with that tiny thread and was just amazed. . . Maybe someday I'll give it a try. Of course, I struggle completing a project with just yarn!

Good Morning :) I've missed visiting your blog, glad to be back :)

I LOVE your crochet little animal creatures, they are adorable. I think I'm going to give it a try though I'm still very new at crocheting with the thread.

Beautiful photos as always, I just love your flowers :)

Hope you're having a good Monday and I hope the rest of your week is wonderful too.

Hugs,
Sandra

Your creations
are so beautiful.
Rain is needed so much in my area.
Almost depressing to see my
beautiful garden trying to hang on.

How adorable! No way I could work with threads so small. Lady, you have a talent there!

We had a bit of luck with a pop up shower on Sunday evening. Only had 1/2 inch of rain but on top of all the watering I have been doing, that was ever so welcome. I have not had to water much the past 2 days. Hopefully, we shall get another pop up shower or two and soon or I will be back at hose dragging again....

Happy 4th of July!

Oh and you asked about the Vitex tree ~ I'm not sure how old mine is. I bought it on sale at Lowe's as a 3' tree. I've had it 5 years. Vitex trees grow fast and start blooming young.

Hi Rainey, I love the sea creatures, they are just so perfectly done. I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to make those teeny, tiny stitches. Your work is impeccable.

My son was helping a friend roof a house last week in the high heat and I'm so glad they're done. Water is indeed the beverage of choice. I hope your DH is done soon. Roofing is not my favorite job.

Still no rain here, but the temps are at least down to the high 80's until later this week. Like Carl said, 'It's just not our turn.'

Hugs to you, dear Lady!

Lorainne, your flowers are just bursting with colour! I love your statuary! It looks like it's always been in your garden!

I hope you get moisture soon as well. We are enduring, in the loosest sense of the word, a week-long heat wave. Hopefully, it will see its end by the weekend.

Take care and thanks for being a frequent visitor at The Gardening Life.
