A clarification and crocheted blooms

Good morning everyone ~ It is Saturday, the last day of my two day work week this week.  We had more rain yesterday, plus a little during the night, so our jungle is continuing to grow like crazy.

My ‘clarification’ in this post is this, the caravan is stationary, anchored to the ground and as far as we know, not going anywhere. It will be a tiny get-away (in our back yard) whenever we feel like having one, and we will be sleeping in it when we re-do our bedroom.  I also look forward to doing some needleworking out there.

The next part of this project, will be the stove, which DH has to sand down, then paint black with high heat paint. Once that is in its’ place in the counter, then we can turn the tiny a.c. on and DH can continue working on the inside, as the vents for the fridge heat to the outside, will then be sealed off from the inside space. Cool air won’t be able to escape. (Hope I explained that right.)

Here it is, planted in place just outside the ‘secret garden’. It overlooks the picket fenced enclosed clothesline area. My clothesline is called a ‘solar dryer’. I love the way line dried laundry smells.

I will keep posting pictures as we move along with this project.

I thought I would show some of the crocheted flowers I will be putting in my Etsy shop, for those who crazy quilt, embellish projects, etc.

I love to crochet and love flowers so have been searching for older patterns for crocheted flowers.  Some of these are Irish crochet patterns.

Here are the needle cases that are ready to upload to Etsy too. There are some beads in the crocheted flower and a mother of pearl button closes the case. I have a ‘small’ collection or m.o.p buttons that I have in my stash of stuff that I am using for these.

I will just show the inside of this one so as not to have too many pictures.  The felt is picked out according to which color goes best with the color of thread of the case.

I have one of these cases that I am using myself and love it.  Straight pins I keep in my pin cushion, but having the needles all in one place where I can see them easily is wonderful.

That’s it for now.  It’s time for breakfast then I need to start thinking about heading off to work.

Have a wonderful weekend and to all of you Father’s have a lovely day tomorrow.

You are so talented! Your crocheted flowers are so intricate and lovely.

The caravan retreat is so neat! You'll really enjoy that in your secret garden. Very clever!

At one time, I had a pattern for victorian-style crocheted Christmas ornaments. The body was done in white or black crochet cotton to cover completely a styrofoam ball. Two bowl-shaped halves of crochet joined together around the "equator". Then there were little crochet flowers and leaves that were to be sewn on. I made a poinsettia one and a couple of others that I gave away as gifts. I really loved them, but lost the pattern. Maybe someday I'll run across it again. I think it had been printed in a Women's Day or Family Circle magazine about in the 1980's.

I love the idea of a "secret garden". But I'm still struggling to have any garden at all so a secret one is out of the question till I get other things established.

The caravan is coming along. It reminds me of my grandmother, who always had to have a little "special place" wherever they lived. they were poor so it wasn't nearly as fancy as yours, but always unique, full of things she'd bought at church rummage sales, things she enjoyed. She and I would go there and have tea. Once it was in the corner of an old railroad car.

I love the caravan retreat. What a wonderful place to spend a night in the summer. There is a local nursery that has a similar wagon. I always love to visit it and often have wished I could buy it and place it on our property. I am delighted to see that you have one, I love what you have done with yours.

Your crochet flowers and purses are so beautiful. I know how much work and talent that takes. One day I will learn to crochet and maybe even have a Gypsy Wagon of my own

Your caravan is fab! That's my idea of a good holiday, close to home. I LOVE your crotchet, very very clever.

You do lovely crotchet work. My mother can but I never picked it up.
Your little backyard get away is too cute and a great solution when renovating the bedroom. We're starting to renovate the bedrooms in our house. Luckily we have a couple of extras so we'll relocate to one when our room is out.

Irish roses are my fav. I was going to crochet in my retirement years. It isn't happening. That dark rose color thread is so pretty and of course the ecru is always special. You do such exquisite work.

Everybody needs a playhouse.

FlowerLady - my Dad's stepmom crocheted something very similar to these in Christmas colors and called them ice-cycles. They look absolutely beautiful on the Christmas tree. Any chance you might do something like that towards the holidays?

Hi Flower Lady!!!

I've been away so long, I'm so sorry! But I loved all your comments and so appreciate you stopping by.

I'm seriously in love with your crocheted flowers! The colors are so beautiful and I can't believe all the different patterns. I'll definitely be visiting your shop.

Your getaway is inspiring, too. So much creativity you two are always involved in. Although we have a lot of room for the two of us, a little space of my own sounds like a treat. :)

Wishing you a very happy week ahead.

Your caravan project is so much fun to watch. When it is finished, I will be looking forward to the bedroom renovation. Renovating is a lot of hard, messy work but so worth it when you are finished. You know the job was done right and something to be proud of as well…

Your needle purse’s are wonderful! Such a cleaver way to store your needles. My grandmother would love them if she were still with us. She was such a good seamstress and tried to teach me crocheting but I could not catch on with anything more then a simple straight stitch of knitting.

We still need rain so out comes the hose again as the heat is on…
