Resting from our Work

Good morning Friends ~ I hope you all, here in the US have a nice holiday, resting from your jobs. Enjoy the day and have a great week. May the rest of you around the world have a nice day too, and a great week as well.

The sky is overcast this morning, and the temp is a tad cooler. I did some hand watering yesterday as things were wilting. Rain was predicted for yesterday, and I heard some thunder but we didn't get the rain. Today and tomorrow more is predicted, so maybe they will be right and we'll get some.

I look at my gardens which are in desperate need of a good going over, and I think, what the heck can I find out there to take pictures of. I go out anyway, with camera in hand, and here is what I came up with yesterday.

Click on pictures to enlarge.

Below is Maggie, a real sweetheart of a rose, the old-fashioned variety. She is a found rose, a Bourbon. You can read more about her here at Rose Gathering

The next two pictures are of Old Blush.

Below is a picture of South African Foxgloves, . You can find out more about them here. I grew this from seed and hope to gather more seeds, as I'm not sure I've any left, and this is the only plant that came up from reseeding itself.

The next two shots are of Don Juan. What a rich, velvety bloom.

Now here is Phyllis Bide, seen looking up through the lattice ceiling of my little seating area on the north west end of the main garden. Her blooms are tiny, but she is a dear sweet rose.

The last picture for this post is of Trumpet vine flowers. This plant is growing in several different spots on our property. For more information go to Campsis radicans.

We never know what a day may bring us, any of us. We can make plans or not, and one thing we know is we cannot control events. Each day is a gift. What we do with each one is up to us. Hopefully, we will be appreciative of the gift, and if/when things are dealt us that we'd rather not have happened, may we grow in the grace, peace and strength of God. He has promised to never leave or forsake us even in the depths of despair or when things are going fantastically.

Blessed be the Lord,

who daily loadeth us with benefits,

even the God of our salvation.

Selah.(Amen)
Psalms 68:19

Oh Lord ~

"Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning;

for in thee do I trust:

cause me to know the way wherein I should walk;

for I lift up my soul unto thee.
Psa 143:8

Your photos, as usual, are uplifting and beautiful as usual.

I hope you have a wonderful Labor Day, too! I love the roses, so beautiful, and the one from the trellis is fantastic. I could send you some cooler air too, and some rain, as we have both at the moment. My gardens are in desperate need, too, but your garden looks wonderful.

Happy Labor's Day to you, FlowerLady! I am always amazed by your roses. That 'Maggie' looks so stunning beautiful! I guess it can resist the blackspots quite well? I am looking for the roses that are suitable for Florida's humid hot weather.

I thought Foxgloves won't grow well in our zone 10 climate, and here you grow it successfully! You sure have green thumbs!

The roses are very beautiful. I have a pink Don Jaun and Old Blush but, they look nothing like yours. I am not good with roses or anything that requires special care.

I will just enjoy yours here.

I hope you have today off and can just relax and enjoy it.

Yes, everyday is a beautiful gift. Thanks for these reminders. I love how we never quite know what surprises the garden will hold each day. Your roses are gorgeous, as usual. Love those 'Phyllis Bide' photos. Beautiful!

but we NEVER take a day of rest from our gardens because every inch of work we put into them refreshes us from our souls to our toes.

All joys,

In spite of drought your roses are so pretty. A garden nearly always offers inspiration.
