Blooms, embroidery, Tropical Storm 16

Well, we've been getting some much needed rain off and on today as we get stormy weather from Tropical Storm 16. At least it's not a hurricane and we are thankful for that. She'll be coming right over us, the way the prediction shows.

Click on pictures for larger views.

The rain will be wonderful for the gardens,
and for me the gardener. I really miss not having our well.

Here we have the passion vine that has the smaller, paler flowers.

A close-up of Porterweed.

Here we have three different vines taking over the Ixora bush.
Air potato vines, a real pain in the rear to get rid of.
Morning glories.
Passion vines.

Ixora blooms.

A pretty hibiscus.

I saw this when I was looking out the scullery window.
So grabbed the camera and zoomed in.

A male cardinal is all his glory.

What I've done so far on my latest embroidery project.

And if tonight my soul may find her peace

in sleep, and sink in good oblivion,

and in the morning wake like a new-opened flower

then I have been dipped again in God, and new-created.

Good night all.

Yes, this rain is much needed. I am so glad that this is not a huricane! The cardinal is always a pleasure to see in the garden. That dragonfly shot is pretty! Love your passion vine.

We've had a small taste of your humidity here the last couple of weeks off and on. I can't imagine how it would feel with the high heat. Glad you'll be getting some rain.
Your embroidery is so pretty, what a great idea to use a picture of your arbor for it.

Hi flowerlady, your flowers are lovely. I love the Porterweed, pretty pink Hibiscus, and interesting Ixora which somehow reminds me of Christmas, they'd make beautiful winter floral arrangement. The birds are wonderful, you're blessed to be close to nature and birds surround you. Thanks for the post!

When your music started playing (the storm) ... I thought maybe my pc was starting to crash ;)

What weather patterns you have in your area. I've never been through a tropical or hurricane storm before.

My favorite flower picture is of the hibiscus! And the dragonfly is awesome!

Have a blessed day.

Glad you are getting some rain!

It makes us and the plants happier.

Your pale passion vine looks very much like our native one that grows in the fields. I should try bringing one into the yard.

Morning glories are beautiful.......but I vow to never again plant one!

I love how the new piece is coming along...

Have a super day!

Love the garden embroidery! It's
going to be so beautiful. I am
in love with the Ixora. Never saw
such sweetness. And the quote from
Lawrence would be nice on a cross
stitch design. As usual, I leave
here inspired and happy. :-)
Hugs,
Sandy

So glad you're getting some rain without too much of a storm behind it. That rain barrel should be full to the brim. Love seeing your new embroidery piece coming together especially since I know from your previous post how and what inspired you to create it.

Still a bit of moisture in our air as well. The cold front from the North should move through tomorrow with cooler temps. I was unaware the front yesterday came from the south but should have known with the ocean feeling air we felt later on... LOL...

Your blooms are so beautiful and the second pic of the Cardinal looks like a post card!

Your new piece is looking good! And to think, in your garden! How special that one will be for you to complete...

I do love me a good tropical storm! (As long as there is no flooding, knock on wood!) Have to say that is a gorgeous passionflower! Wish I wasn't so afraid of vines....

The passion vine is sooo pretty but I love the Ixora flowers the best. I seem to be favoring red flowers on everyone's blogs this year. I must plant some red flowering plants next spring!

I hope all of the rain you received was gentle and refreshing, just like this post was for me. Your pictures, embroidery and flowers are so beautiful, and what I needed to calm my jangled nerves today.

Thank you!

You have so many beautiful vines. I love the red Ixora blooms. I am glad you will be getting some rain for your barrels. I went with out well water for years and used a cistern. I person learns not to waste the water when it is so sparse. When we got our well drilled I was so happy. But I still do not waste water to this day and use the cistern and rain barrels for watering the garden.
Oh, your new embroidery picture is going to be so pretty.
Have a good week.
