Good morning Folks ~ Here it is Thanksgiving morning eve. We already had a horrible thunderstorm pass over, more expected. Lots of wind, rain and thunder and lightening. This weather is bringing us a cold front so that we will have night time temps in the 50's. Hurray.
I've started working on baking and cooking for tomorrow's dinner, and am sure a lot of you are doing the same thing. This year I'm fixing a roaster chicken stuffed with cornbread stuffing, green beans with garlic sauce, mashed potatoes, fresh made whole cranberry sauce with horseradish sauce and yogurt mixed in, heat and serve rolls, and southern comfort sweet potato pie. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. The green bean, pie and cranberry sauce are new recipes for me this year.
Late yesterday afternoon I was sitting on the back deck when I heard a weird little bird chirp, I looked into the secret garden's hedge and there was a hummingbird flitting around. He flew away and sat on the powerlines. Every once in a while he would flit out then go back to the line, I figured he was catching goodies to eat. I decided to come in for the camera, even though he was at quite a distance I zoomed in on him and you can tell that he is a little hummer.
Here is yet another picture of Phillipine Violets.
I just love this shrub.
It makes babies by seed and I dig them up to plant elsewhere.
Easy to grow and very hardy.
This is a wonderful flowering vine,
with unique leaves and seed pods and a lovely flower,
it is called the Alamo Vine.
Here is another shot of St. Francis.
I just love that little bird sitting on his arm.
This is my shed's garden again.
This rose is Bon Silene.
This last picture is of an afgan I worked on for a couple of years.
I just love the colors.
This is called a sampler afgan because the rows are different stitches.
I'm working on another one done mostly in purples/lavenders/blues.
This covers the top of our double-size bed to pillows.
This Thanksgiving I am thankful to God for our many blessings large and small. In spite of a cutback in time and pay where I work, at least I still have a job. I am thankful for our little cottage and that it's paid for. Thankful for gardens which give me joy and serenity in their simplicity. Thankful DH can do so many different projects around here to keep our place going, artistic and functional. Thankful for the love, life and laughter we share. Thankful for the different crafts I enjoy doing. Thankful for the friends made through the internet. Thankful for the gift of each new day.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Hello,
I hope you are able to stay dry today and enjoy the time getting ready for tomorrow. I am baking a 20 lb. turkey, but all other family members are bring the sides, so I shouldn't be having to work too hard in the kitchen.
I love your little hummingbird photo. I love it when they visit.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
That is such a sweet post. I have many things to be thankful for this year too. Didn't know you are so creative. I have been wanting to try my hand a quilting - something I've never even tried. Maybe it's an age thing for me - I feel pretty old sometimes.
Ooohh I love the beautiful rose Bon Silene.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Happy Happy Thanksgiving my dear sweet friend! It sounds like a lovely dinner you have planned. I will raise a toast to you at dinner.
The afgan is wonderful I can see how it would take the time it did. There is a lot going on with all those great colors. I look forward to the next one.
I owe you a letter my dear. Please forgive my neglectfulness.
Have a great day and know that I am thankful for you!
Beautiful afghan! You are so creative! I have been cooking for th emost part of the day as well. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving full of many blessings
It sure does look pretty there, even after the storms. I love the hummingbirds pictures, they are so fun to watch.
Have a great Thanksgiving, it sounds like your meal will be delicious!
A happy thanksgiving to you!! Your shot of the hummingbird is great. You afghan is gorgeous. I'd keep that out on my bed, too.
Just a lovely post, Flower Lady! I love the hummingbird particularly. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Happy Thanksgiving.
I just wanted to tell you that your blog never fails to make me feel better for having visited.
Your meal sounds delicious. I have to stay with the old things....my family would protest anything new!
Loved the pictures as usual.
Blessings to you and your family.
Your Thanksgiving dinner sounds wonderful. Your flowers are beautiful -- I especially love the Phillipine Violet and Bon Silene. Happy Thanksgiving!
Good morning Folks. Hope you all survived the day yesterday and have nothing but good memories.
AZPlantLady ~ You fixed a huge turkey. It was nice to be indoors baking and cooking while it was not so nice outdoors. Yes, it is always nice when the hummers visit.
LeSan ~ We had a lovely, quiet day yesterday. That afgan makes me feel happy. I am enjoying working on the next one too. Don't stress about owing me a letter. It's always a treat hearing from you when you have the time. I am thankful for you too.
Becca ~ I've got a first and only quilt in mind and have started cutting out squares and have made crocheted embellishments for it, but that's as far as I've gotten. Check out some books from the library about quilting, you'll get inspired.
Catherine ~ I always get excited when I see a hummer, I can't help it.
Dirt Princess ~ Thank you. I love to crochet. My step-grandmother taught me when I was 15.
LemonVerbenaLady ~ I wish I could have gotten better pictures of the hummer, but that was what I got. They are little sweeties.
MaryDelle ~ Thank you. I'm glad I was able to get a picture, even if from a distance of that little hummer. I've made that afgan several times now, and just love the way it comes out each time. It's all in the colors.
Gld ~ What a sweet comment. Really inspired me to keep on doing what I'm doing with this little blog. ~ We weren't too crazy about the cranberry sauce, so I don't think I'll make that again, but everything else was good.
SweetBay ~ Phillipine Violet is one of my favorites. Bon Silene is a sweet little rose too.
Thanks again everyone for visiting and your kind comments.
