First Day of Spring

Good morning everyone ~ Hope your first weekend of spring is filled with wonderful outdoor projects.

Yesterday was the first day of spring, it was also my birthday. My 60th. DH is taking me to Morikami Gardens for my bday. We were going to go this past week, but we have been having some much needed rain, which postponed the event. Hopefully, we can go next week. Everything will look better after all this rain. Read about Morikami Gardens here.

It has been raining again this morning. I'm working at my job again today as I did yesterday, so no gardening for me. I did pick some blue pea vine seed pods though, and yesterday took some pictures which are shown below.

I know all of you are thrilled that spring has sprung and I wish you bounteous, beautiful gardens this year.

Happy Gardening ~ FlowerLady

Below is my main garden.
The paths in and around my garden are roll roofing material.
Inexpensive and works great.

This is my blue bottle bouquet with the shrub Thunbergia.

This is a yellow firecracker plant. I also have the red. This yellow one is one of the last plants I bought last spring. It goes great in the old Mizner flowerpots. I have two of these pots. I think we paid $5 each, or $5 for the pair, many years ago, at a yard sale.
They are heavy concrete from the 40's or earlier.

This is a Duchesse de Brabant bud, growing among crotons and azaleas.

This is a bougainvillea. Very pretty with it's blush color.

This is a wild orchid which grows with little effort on my part.

Oh the wild orchid is lovely! Where do you get the blue bottles from? Today I went out and purchased two red roses called, Mirandy. I know nothing about roses, wish me luck.

Your garden holds so many surprises. It seems to be green all year. I'm not sure what state you're in but wherever you are, I find myself envying you and your special garden.

Have a blessed weekend :)

I love the wild orchid. All of your photos are very pretty. Nothing blooming here except for a few crocus, 3 I think at last count, but my tulips are coming up.

Happy Birthday to You! Hope you have a great birthday celebration.

Happy Birthday FlowerLady! I just love your garden. I showed Larry your path. I hope you make it to the garden this week.

I have been working outside lots, and am having an awesome time. The man who owns the house across the street asked if I want to garden next to his garage, and I have the area almost filled up already.

Happy Birthday! Your garden is beautiful. I really like your style of garden, and what a deal on those planters. How come I can never find such deals? :)

Good morning Sharon. Hope you are enjoying each day. Did you get your new roses planted yet? I had to look up Mirandy and it's a beauty and I only wish you could share it's scent here. This rose sounds wonderful and like a lovely addition to you gardens.

Below are two websites about this rose in case you need more info on growing it.

The blue bottles were 'Relax'wine bottles and a couple of other bottles.

Our gardens are green all year, as we do not get little if any freezing weather. If we do, it doesn't last for long.

Don't be envious, enjoy the loveliness that surrounds you in your own gardens. I've been a tad green seeing all the lovely gardens on the internet. It can ruin our own peace, joy and tranquility if we let it. I am learning contentment with what will grow in my area, in doing with what I have and growing, hopefully daily in God's grace and mercy.

Thanks for visiting and your kind words. Blogging and gardening are continual works in progress.

Have a lovely day ~ FlowerLady

Rebecca ~ Thank you for your bday wishes. The more you get out and play in your gardens, the more you will want to be out there every spare moment. Do you have a blog, if so how do I get there?

Have a wonderful week ~ FlowerLady

Marla ~ Thank you for the bday wishes. It sounds like spring is finally happening for you and I'm sure you're glad to see bits of color as things awaken from their long winter sleep.

Enjoy ~ FlowerLady

Sue ~ Thank you for bday wishes. How neat to have a neighbor say you can have some of his space to garden in. I'll be looking forward to seeing pictures. ~ I've also been working outside a lot and it has felt wonderful.

Have a great time playing in all of your gardens ~ FlowerLady

Catherine ~ Thanks. My style of gardening is cottage style in the tropics. :-) Concrete garden pieces abound down here. We've 'found' quite a few pieces curbside. They are 'heavy' though and we aren't so quick these days to pick up too much more of that unless it is really something special.

Enjoy playing in your gardens ~ FlowerLady

Betty ~ I have quite a few 'dunnos' also in my gardens, especially the botanical names, not the homey garden names they go by.

Enjoy getting to know your plants.

Kudzu ~ Thank you. I'm sure you can create your own lovely bottle tree too.

Have fun ~ FlowerLady
